Reliable and pleasing until the inevitable crunch, 8 Jan. 2009
Bic has been at the forefront of gravity-driven ballpoint pen development for the mass market for as long as time itself, and it would initially appear that they have got the practice down to a fine art. Subtly stylish, reputable and satisfying to use (particularly on fruit), the Medium is to the pen what the horse is to the zebra. Nothing excessively fancy, but arguably more useful and consumer-friendly.
For Biro-chewers such as myself, however, the Medium provides a meagre meal at best, and one which inevitably results in an audible shattering of plastic and the digestion of dangerous amounts of ink and transparent shards. Whilst one may begin proceedings by chewing the lid, this quickly becomes grotesque and unappetising, particularly once it has been retrieved from the floor for the fifth time. The lid is discarded, and the ticking timebomb of ink-poisoning begins here.
All in all, an admirable and effective tool, but one which must be approached with caution.
