4.0 out of 5 stars Cato and Macro Keep Your Interest Again, 1 Jun. 2015

Although well into the run of "Cato & Macro" books this one is still very readable particularly as it is concerned again with the conquest of Britain and the resistance put up by the Britons led by Caratacus. That Caratacus lost his fight against the Romans is known but the details of what happened to him I did not know, so there was a little bit of history learned here. Caratacus also appears very briefly in Robert Fabbri's "Vespasian VI", and Vespasian is mentioned in "Brothers in Blood" so the two books are very slightly interlinked.A good, quick moving read

4.0 out of 5 stars Vespasian's Destiny Continues, 1 Jun. 2015

Another good book in the Vespasian series. Not as much battle action as I would have liked and too much perversion and unjust killing for my liking. However this was the ending of Claudius's rule and the beginning of Nero's so to continue the story of Vespasian I suppose the intrigue and lies had to be included. Still a good read but better in parts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Little Reader, 11 May 2015

At last I can read my Kindle in the dark. My wife has had a Kindle Paper white for over a year and at times particularly through this winter I have envied her ability to keep reading in the low light. My own was the first type produced and even using one of the little clip on lights it is not as comfortable to read, and of course it does not have a touch screen, so any clumsiness is followed by a search to find the page you were reading as inevitably you have caught the back or forward buttons on the side.
The other advantage is that the Kindle paperwhite is easier to handle than using an Ipad or android tablet, as it is usually smaller.

Please see " Black Path" for general review of the Asa Larsson "Rebecka Martinsson" novels. All I am going to say here is that I found them all good and read the complete series. This is the book that tells you of Sweden's position in World War 2, not "the Black Path" Sorry about the mix up. I found this a very good book but somewhat sad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark Tale, 8 May 2015

Another good Skandinavian novel following the life of Rebecka Martinsson. I have now read 5 books in this series and have enjoyed every one. I started at book 2, whichwas a mistake but so good that I bought the rest and followd them in order. These novels give a good insight into life in Northern Sweden and I think it was this one which told me about Sweden's position in the 2nd World War which is nothing for Sweden to be proud of.
However following Rebecka's life story takes twists and turns and varies from extreme violence to compassion, and all the while stays interesting.
