3.0 out of 5 stars Looks good. Maybe not ideal for young children., 28 April 2016

Looks the part but it's too hard for young children to break. They were going at it for ages with a cricket bat with no success

3.0 out of 5 stars Tricky to build and falls apart too easily, 14 Mar. 2014

Perhaps my son is too young for this, but I found this to be quite a chore to assemble and that it falls apart far too easily when you're playing with it. I almost wish I'd glued it together as I went along.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great replacement for ageing Samsung Galaxy S2 owners., 14 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Edited review: April 2015

Having been a really great phone for the first 11 months or so my phone has become incredibly slow of late - perhaps since the last update. It now takes an age to do anything. On that basis I really can't recommend anyone buy this phone.

My Samsung Galaxy S2 died last week after 2 and a half years of continuous use and abuse.

I was pretty happy with my S2, it did everything I needed it to and did it all pretty well. It was my phone, my main way of browsing the internet and consuming news and it was my sat nav. I think it had started to slow down a little recently, but most of the games my son had loaded on to it still worked.

The new Moto G which I got as a replacement is faster than the old S2 (Which I suppose you might hope for given it is so much newer), and it does everything that I need it to do whilst priced at approximately 1/4 the price of phones that are of a higher spec. These phones may be better, but are they 4 times better?

The only real weakness that I can identify with this phone is the camera which is only 5 megapixels and doesn't do very well in low light conditions. Everything else is excellent. I even get better mobile signal.

This is a great book which my son has loved for the last couple of years. Pillow fights, and "floodwaves" all very amusing, and he always likes to give the cats a good night kiss.

The Getaway: Black Monday (PS2)
The Getaway: Black Monday (PS2)

3.0 out of 5 stars The Getaway, 29 July 2005
The controls are a complete pain in this game. You find yourself continuosly running into walls etc.
Even with the crummy controls the game is far too easy. There is an auto-aim button that you can hold down and fire continuosly at your enemies. This allows you to kill your opponents with no skill at all. If they shoot you all you have to do is lean against a wall and you recover.
The reason for it getting three stars and not less is that it is relatively fun for the short period that the game lasts. The graphics are excellent and the levels played as Sam are quite inventive as you have to sneak around without being seen (these are much harder than the levels where you just mindlessly kill people).
Since it is only £8 on Amazon it is probably worth it though.

This is one of the best books that I have ever read. It traces the history of a German family in Berlin from the turn of the century (1900) to the very early post war years. It takes in both WW1 and WW2. In my opinion what makes this book so good is the way that it helps to illustrate what it was that made so many German people support the two wars.
If you have an interest in the history and causes of WW2 then this book would be an excellent addition to your collection. It is well researched and also very well written, which is why I give it 5 stars.

Warhammer 40,000 Fire Warrior (PS2)

3.0 out of 5 stars Too easy and not varied enough, 13 Nov. 2003
I did enjoy this game. However it is too easy and there are several glitches with the AI. If you run up to the space marine, dreadnoughts and other large fighting machines they are unable to shoot you but also don't have the brains to move out of the way - this makes them really easy to kill. As they are supposed to make the game dificult this makes it a bit too easy.
The game is not very varied, all you have to do is walk around plant bombs, shoot people and find keys. Even the grand finale is really easy, you have to kill a large demon and it is surprisingly (or even annoyingly) easy.
The graphics are not as good as those for medal of honour, and frankly if you don't have this game already you should wait for the new medal of honour game comes out and buy that.
The only caveat is that I haven't played the multiplayer game, so that could offer some redeeming features.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3 and a half stars, 29 Oct. 2003
The game itself is really good fun, with excellent graphics and sound and interesting tasks to complete, ranging from finding explosives and freezing them to sneaking around trying not to be spotted by various goons.
However in my opinion where the game falls down is in the storyline and the video sequences. Whilst the video sequences are technically very good the story is completely ridiculous and would only really appeal to the fans of japanese Manga comics. I found it all to be a bit purile and overdone. This would be fine if you could just ignore them and press X to get out of them, but you can't. You have to sit through several long tedious video sequences which disrupt the game, and distract from the game play.
At only £20 though you can't go to far wrong as this game does certainly have its good points.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great game, just don't buy it for the kids!, 29 Oct. 2003
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a great game, whilst it is very similar to GTA3 it is still great. There are lots of different missions, the graphics are good, the story complements the game well (rather than getting in the way as is the case in many games). It is a mixture of 2 games really, a driving/racing game and a shoot em up/ beat em up.
Its 18 certificate is certainly deserved with large amount of violence and the possibilty of killing police etc something that you should not encourage children to view.
I think the game is a great pastiche of TV shows such as Miami Vice right down to some of the police driving Ferraris and wearing suit with their sleeves rolled up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful pictures, 20 Oct. 2003

This book has really beautiful pictures of the trail. It doesn't contain all that much text but it does give you a history of the trail. In any cases I think that the pictures speak for the trail much better than text can.
