5.0 out of 5 stars Love this book, 21 Jan. 2012
Wow, what a straight forward and easy to follow book this is. Great ideas from start of project to finish, with clear images, and not full of difficult or ridiculously intricate rules. Following this book you could 'dress down' and 'refurb' anything at all to create a sort of french shabby used look very very easily. I have purchased some of her paint, but also went online both onto youtube and also websites which show in more detail how to do things (like the waxing - some good tips especially on youtube with people who use her products) and also to recreate a chalk based paint at a fraction of the cost, so once Ive finished with her products, I might try and make my own. Definately worth purchasing if you only purchase one book of this type.

2.0 out of 5 stars A confused read. More suited to Teenage Fantasy Fiction., 21 Jan. 2012
This review is from: PORTAL (Kindle Edition)
Don't often bother downloading free books other than the classics - and now I know why. The read up sounded interesting, and I thought well, why not - i can give it a go for nowt (see later). Well - maybe I shouldn't have bothered. It starts off in a half decent manner, and although very patronising to the yorkshire dialect (eee bah gum tha noz, put t'wood in t'oil etc. etc.,) at the beginning , I stuck with it, but about a 10th of the way in, the book changes direction, as though the author got bored of the way it was leading, and decided to write a completely different type of book for a completely different type of audience. Starts off reasonably fine, Young randy couple move North with small child to quaint dales village, Horror 'history of old house' story is told in old local pub (locals stop eating and drinking when it is mentioned), bad storm, lights out, woman and child go missing in house, old door leading to cave leading to Flesh eating Trolls, Man Eating Plants, Helpful little 'guide', party of companions, a wicked witch who devours childrens souls in a different world - basically a book made up of lots of other peoples ideas i've read and seen before from both novels and films over the years. Infact, reads more like something that Brendan Fraser ought to be considering for his next very far fetched 'fantasy' movie. Perhaps if this book is marketed more clearly at the teen fantasy fiction market, this might do better.

Lovely book, and great ideas and recipes, but disappointed that there are no fat contents added to the recipes, only calories.

Ken Hom's Foolproof Thai Cookery
by Ken Hom
Edition: Hardcover

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok but nothing new., 6 April 2009
Nice images and good recipes, but im afraid that the recipes arn't really much different to the ones I already have - was looking for a foolproof Red Thai paste from scratch, but Ken Hom seems to prefer shop bought ones and uses them in his recipes, so a bit disappointed.
