very interesting book, because I was not previously aware that the US Army in Vietnam had "fixed wing asset's" available to them. The book arrived well within the specified time, in excellent condition and made for a great read. I have been in contact with Gerald Naekel who has another book under preparation. I eagerly await its arrival.

5.0 out of 5 stars great, informative read!, 2 Mar. 2014

very interesting tail of flying in the UK & USA, on types that most PPL holders can identify with and including one short but very illuminating chapter relating to the authors quest to fly a P51D Mustang, which he achieved at some cost, how I envy him.

well named, RB was it seems totally driven in his task to be a successful fighter pilot, pushing himself through serious injury more than once, to survive the dangers he did and then to die in the way he did was a very sad ending, but I think he would have found it difficult to adjust to peace?

great to read about ordinary people going out on a limb, so to speak, to save folk who for whatever reason have got into grave difficulties, which are life threatening. The author never judges these people harshly which speaks volumes for him. I am not a climber but found it hard to put down!

Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars great read, 10 Jan. 2014

very interesting account from a WW1 Aviator, who did his duty on regular basis, constrained mainly by the weather. Great because its a normal sort of bloke doing extraordinary things under difficult and dangerous circumstances.
