Fifteen fantastic tracks of instrumental genius. A band that Jim Heath of Reverend Horton Heat refers to as the greatest guitar band in the world.
If you don't own a Los Straitjacket album this would be an ideal place to start. From the opening track "Crime Scene" to the last "Fur Sophia" these boys will whisk you around the world. They delve into so many different musical styles too numerous to mention but also somehow maintaining that surf sound and beat.
My favourites change with every listening at the moment I love twisting with a bit of Cossack dancing to "New Siberia". I also love "Low Tide" with amazing saw playing by Irina Bjorklund who also adds a little vocal to the brilliant euro cheese slice "Sardinia Holiday". The playing is fantastic all throughout this album. If in doubt check out the video for "Space Mosquito" on youtube.
All in all this is a very uplifting and entertaining album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Sweet, 4 Mar. 2012
This review is from: Leaving Eden (Audio CD)
This album is abundant with quality and charm. In a time so full of manufactured bands it is refreshing to hear a band that can really sing and play. My only complaint is that it is so good that it seems too short. No filler and produced by Buddy Miller. If you like this check out "Wake Up Sinners" by The Dirt Daubers, string band music is alive and well.

Great track from Cush from The Men They Couldn't Hang. An instant Christmas classic to warm you up on those chilly winter nights.

Thank you Emmy and Tim for creating a great Christmas album. A perfect partnership have created a true piece of pop perfection. You will be grinning from start to finish when you hear this. There is not one bad track on this album and it looks and sounds fantastic. Power pop is given the wall of sound treatment which crashes and sparkles into the
21st century. It will warm you up on those cold December nights.

5.0 out of 5 stars Serious Fun, 18 Oct. 2011

This album sums up the early eighties for me. I remember first hearing Serious Drinking's first Peel session and I was hooked. We shared the same interests Football, girls, watching telly, drinking and being left wing.
I still have the original album but sadly I gave away my free beer mat hoping to impress a young lady (what the hell was I thinking ?).
Thanks to those kind folk at cherry red we have yet another forgotten classic reissued (it was reissued before but I missed out unaware of said reissue). Not only do we get "The Revolution Starts At Closing Time" and "They May Be Drinkers...." mini album but all the singles A & B sides released on upright records.
What great memories this album brings back and what of the songs? Even as a Scotsman I have to admit "Spirit Of 66" is the best unofficial world cup anthem recorded. "Love On The Terraces" and "Bobby Moore Was Innocent" are also two other fine football themed songs. Elsewhere tracks such as "Time Is Tight", "World Service" and "Baby I'm Dying A Death" spoke of how to try and deal with the oppisite sex. The song "The Revolution Starts At Closing Time" is a classic anthem of the time which Killing Joke's Jaz Coleman lately admitted to singing in the shower.
How can you not love an album that name checks Sgt Bilko ,Jimmy Hill, Brian Walden and The Undertones as well as nicking riffs from the Damned and Fleetwood Mac?
The five stars here are for the first CD. The second CD is ok but not a patch on the first. However it is great to hear all this stuff again. I hope they might even release the Peel sessions.

Glad to see all these tracks on one disc. This provides a master class in how to create the perfect single. All of the A sides here should have been huge hits. Inventive , creative and imaginative but also great fun I have fond memories of listening to the vinyl versions of all of these. How wonderful as well to have the full "Friday The 13th" ep available on cd again. "Limit Club" is a stone cold classic. One of the greatest periods from one of the greatest bands. If you don't own a Damned album this would be the ideal place to start.

An enjoyable hoe down of an album from start to finish.
In these days of over hyped over produced country albums this is a refreshing change.Played straight and played great by Col. J.D.Wilkes of Legendary Shack Shakers his wife Jessica Wilkes, Mark Robertson and Steve Latanation helping out on drums and percussion. The album is a fine mix of originals and standards with J.D and Jessica taking turns on lead vocal duties. My only complaint is at just over 26 minutes it leaves me wanting more. Go on and treat yourself you'll love it that much you'll be applying for planning permission for a porch if you don't already have one.
P.S also check out their self titled first offering.BelievePandelirium [7" VINYL]

I know some people are not that fussed over cover versions but this is an amazing cd. Five top quality songs sung with warmth and passion. I really love the version of Tom Wait's "Bottom Of The World" as much as i love the original. Apparently there is a full album on the way soon and if the standards are as high as this it should be a scorcher.Elvis Lives HereDevil on the Wind

If you are a fan of Power Pop, Phil Spector, The Ramones and short catchy fun filled tunes then don't hesitate buy this now.
After the mixed bag of their self titled debut these three girls have now added Linwood Regensburg to the line up and with his addition have found direction. This album is a scorching feel good pop record that is steeped in the past but also sounds fresh and exciting. "Screws Get Loose" and "Be Your Bro" must be two of the most overlooked and underplayed classic singles of recent years.
A fantastic fun thrill of an album well worth investing in embrace Those Darlin's now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Year Of The Rat., 7 Feb. 2011

This is Bob's fith solo album and first all new product for ten years.
I myself have been a fan of Bob Geldof since 1977 when The Boomtown Rats exploded on to the scene.
Many changes of musical style and direction have followed since those days with mixed results.
I am pleased to say that this is a fine collection of songs. The opening track "How I Roll" gives a slight nod to Lovin Spooful's "Summer In The City". "Blow Fish" and "Systematic Six Pack" are full on blusey rockers. The former grumpy old man sounds positively happy throughout the proceedings and none more so than the radio friendly track "Silly Pretty Thing".
Bob's backing band also deserve a mention ,from funky "She's a lover" to folk "Dazzled by You" and the mighty "To Live In Love" they sound great throughout. The album draws to an end with the very touching "Mary Says" the falsetto sung "Blow" and the stunning "Here's To You" (sounding very George Harrison).
There is also a hidden track in which Bob sums up his life in a comic Irish aire with piano and spoons.
I really wish Bob Geldof all the best with this album and hope to see him and his fantastic band back on the road again.
