2.0 out of 5 stars There's scenes in this film that are sure to satisfy torture porn enthusiasts, 9 May 2016
This review is from: The Green Inferno [DVD] (DVD)
There's scenes in this film that are sure to satisfy torture porn enthusiasts, not really my thing, but when the lone survivor makes it back to safety, she denies it happened, it made no sense and no explanation was even offered, it wasn't as if she was talking abuot werewolves or vampires ro whatever, no reasn to think she wouldnt' be believed. Anyway, worth a watch but not exciting, I go more for fast paced stuff, like say 28 Days Later, and please don't you lot all start, I KNOW it's a different genre, I'm talking about the style of direction - and why do you all go on the internet anyway to comment on other peoples reviews! Get a life!

I'm unsure what the material is. Label says Merino wool, but it doesn't feel like the merino wool polo shirts I bought from Jaeger & House of Fraser.

Babylon - Series 1 [DVD]
Babylon - Series 1 [DVD]
Dvd ~ James Nesbitt
Price: £7.99

5.0 out of 5 stars says"I'm like a cocomo cat [, 14 Mar. 2016
This review is from: Babylon - Series 1 [DVD] (DVD)
Some of the lines in it, including James Nesbitt saying, I'm going to go all 1970's West Midlands Special Forces on you and say walk with me, and then when his giving his assistant the rollocking of a lifetime, says"I'm like a cocomo cat [?] on an electric fence, that's me, relaxing, and you've just popped up on my radar, charlie". Some of the lines I just wanted to hear again and again, or when a journalist wants to do an expose on the police, his boss says you're like the guy who cuts off his head, lifts it up and says look what I've done, be warned, got loads of swearing but really funny, stars the black guy from Green Wing and Peep show, also an irritable James Nesbitt, directed by Danny Boyle. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent werewolf movie, 2 Mar. 2016
This review is from: Wer [DVD] (DVD)
Excellent werewolf movie, although irritating that it falls for the "passing on the bloodline" ending, don't want to spoil what is otherwise a very good movie but this entire genre seems to want to end their work exactly the same way. However, I'm only griping [ a bit ] about the end, it is a good movie. A lawyer wants to defend a werewolf who's been wrongfully arrested and taken into custody, yeah well, and the lawyer feels sorry for him. Everybody else knows what this creature is except her, I mean, honestly, didn't the wild eyes, long hair and long teeth give you some sort of clue? Anyway, she wants to tke on the establishment and show how clever she is but she eventually twigs it but by then it's far too late and everything goes steadily pear shaped. Very splashy. Well worth adding to the permanent collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars can it still be as funny for a ninth series, 22 Feb. 2016
This review is from: Peep Show: Series 9 [DVD] (DVD)
My son and I are both diehard fans and we both had doubts, can it still be as funny for a ninth series, simple answer to that is, yes it is, one scene is when Super Han[d]s? - not sure - is getting married, Mark has to step in at the last minute as best man, and at the altar he says to the bride, actually, I'm sorry, I don't know your name and then turns to Super Hands and says, I don't know your name either. Very funny. Surprised Jeremy turns out to .........whoops, sorry, don't want to spoil it, if you like the first eight series, buy it, you won't be disappointed.

The Book Of Taliesyn
The Book Of Taliesyn
Price: £5.44

3.0 out of 5 stars I was disappointed and only listened to it once or maybe twice, 22 Feb. 2016
This review is from: The Book Of Taliesyn (Audio CD)
What I wanted when I listened to this record was Made in Japan for hard edged rock from Ian Gillan belting out Highway Star and Ritchie playing those incredible solos, but couldn't afford it and settled for this at half price. I was disappointed and only listened to it once or maybe twice. I should say Rod Evans is my least favourite singer but I returned to this record recently and accept I've been a bit unfair. Kentucky Woman and River Deep are pretty good and I can't help a wry smile listening to Rod Evans singing The Shield, however I would suggest getting In Rock, Machine Head, Live In Japan, Purpendicular and Now What first and then these other records, I think you'll appreciate them more, also Shades of Deep Purple is a really good record. I would even include the classic Fireball on this deferred list as the styles on that album are so varied. Definitely have a listen.

3.0 out of 5 stars They are a fantastic band, no question, 31 Dec. 2015
They are a fantastic band, no question, seen them five times and they blow the roof off every time. My sole criticism of this release is that it still concentrates on Machine Head, great album, yes, but they only play three of the new songs! When I saw them at Brixton on the Purpendicular tour, an LP pretty much forgotten about now, they played eight from that record. To The Setting Sun is better because to be honest I don't want eight or nine DVD's all of them with virtually the same set list where they play the same six or seven songs from the same record. On, admittedly a bootleg, they played all nine songs. Ye gods. Purpendicular is also a terrific album, as is Abandon and they're pretty much left by the wayside.
