A very good film, may be not quite as "epic" as it could have been but still very good, although it may appeal more to those with a real understanding of the Civil War and a knowledge of the events covered in the film.

I read a previous review on this and the reviewer appeared to be criticising Stonewall's death bed scene, thinking that it was "over dramatic" etc....but according to the history books, it was accurately portrayed.

There are also some reviews that seem to not be keen on the "Southern" slant, i.e. the film has Jackson and Lee as leading roles. As in every conflict, there are two sides, and if you had been born south of the Mason Dixon line your sypathies would have towards the Gray not the Dark Blue! I think this is refreshing change!

4.0 out of 5 stars Series 7 Review, 8 May 2014

Matt Smith had a very tough job following on from David Tennant's incarnation and I must say at the start I was a little take it or leave it..... However, having now watched his three series through, I have changed my stance and think that he really was a very good Doctor and well supported by his assistants. I'm old enough to remember saying to my late Mother when Jon Pertwee regenerated, "do you think he'll come back?"

A criticism I would have over the various series though is that there is a sub-plot running through / behind each story. Can't we just have a single stand alone story?

Nice to see the Ice Warriors back in a more athletic guise than when they made they debut!

Amy certainly grew on me as the series progressed, only to be replaced by Clara who has in my opinion hit the ground running and who appeared to get on very well with "her" Doctor! Will she get on with the next one...? Time will tell...

4.0 out of 5 stars Reign of Terror Review, 9 July 2013

Very well put together, perhaps a little too much of the re-capture scenario but none the less, very good.

Edward Brayshaw makes both a charming and excellent villain, as we know, he certainly dropped the charm in the War Games! Could he have played the Master....? Instead he ended up in Rent a Ghost!

The early historical shows have held up well as the sets are well put together, a shame it wasn't made in colour, compared to the sci-fi based stories where so much of the equipment now looks terribly antiquated.

The cartoon links are brilliant, whilst not quite out of the top artistical drawer, they are so very much better than the short episode links provided to the likes of the original VHS release of the Invasion.

If you like the early years of Dr Who, you will enjoy this.

A good all round package with some nice added features, e.g. interviews with the cast etc.

I hadn't seen any of these stories since they were originally braodcast, Kroll certainly frightened me as an eight year old!

Each story stands up in it's own right, some as will always be the case being better than others, my favourite being the Androids of Tara.

Also a reminder of how good and striking an actress the late Mary Tamm was, a shame that she didn't carry on in the role.

Any Dr Who should enjoy this!
