5.0 out of 5 stars Another Top Carrey Film!, 28 April 2009
This review is from: Yes Man [DVD] [2008] (DVD)
This film has everything you require from Jim Carrey, laughs and love. This film is an excellent alrounder in which Jim Carrey puts in another great performance giving many laughs, and although the film might not be as funny as some of his other films, it is still a great laugh.

The concept of saying Yes to everything is also ingenious making way for many silly situations to arise, from attracting unwanted attention from an elderly nieghbour, getting into fights, falling in love and losing a love. It is really clever, and prooves to be a really good feel good movie!

Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Madness just get better and better!, 12 April 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Madness have always been known for there silly sounding hits including 'House of Fun', 'Baggy Trousers', 'My Girl', 'Driving in my Car' and 'House of Fun' rather than thei albums. Only fans know the true brilliance of their album work.

Madness have released 8 studio albums throughout their career with many contining songs which are pure genious.

The Liberty of Norton Folgate follows on from their previous success with 14 new songs. Every track has Madness stamped all over them whether it is the classic tragic love tale that is NW5, the reggie of Forever Young or the more nutty Idiot Child, every song on this album is Madness.

Each track has a chorus that will stay with you throughout the week, and if one song isn't your cup of tea the next one wil be, as all the songs are different, mainly because they have been written by the different original band members. The songs contain clever, meaningful lyrics accompanied by some great music. The title track 'The Liberty of Norton Folgate' is a prime example demonstating the bands skills as musicans over a period of 10 minutes.

The album my not be as 'pop' like as the album 'Wonderful' but is some of the best work they have ever done, with hints of work from all of their past albums. This could be the album of the year and I hope it gets the recognition it deserves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, 12 April 2009
This has to be one of Morrissey's finest singles ever. 'Something is Squeezing my Skull' is one of those catchy tracks with a great verses followed by the fantastic chorus and like all Morrissey songs, the lyrics speak the truth.
The track is much faster than 'I'm throwing my Arms Around Paris' and has a similar 'heavy rock' tune to 'All you need is me'
And to top the lead track off, as a b-side you get the wonderful 'This Charming Man' which I'm sure you all know he originally performed with The Smiths. Morrissey's band aren't the Smiths but they still sound fantastic.
This is a top single that old and new fans will enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Same Complete Madness!, 2 April 2009
This review is from: Complete Madness (Audio CD)
When I heard Madness had got a new record contract to release their entire back catalogue, I was expecting a completely new compilation cd of their fantastic songs.
Ok Complete Madness is a fantastic Album in it's own right with a great collection of their early singles and some great b-sides, Madness deserve better really.
It is an exact repackaging of the previous release. I'm glad there is a Madness CD out there to buy, as their new fans haven't had a chance to buy a 'best of album' from Madness for a few years now.
It is certainly a must have for any music fan, but hopefully there will be a new collection on Madness tracks covering their whole career later in the year. That will be certainly worth owning!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as some make out!, 21 Mar. 2009
Ok you may be wondering how Peter Sellers is the star of this film when production began a good few months after his death. The answer is that the film uses deleted scenes starring Sellers as Inspector Clouseau, to make a new Pink Panther story. The end result is quite surprising.

Most of the deleted scenes are taken from The Return of The Pink Panther and The Pink Panther Strikes again. They are peiced together surprisingly well with added help from new scenes featuring Herbert Lom as Dreyfuss.

Many of Clouseaus scenes are very funny and you would't even know they were deleted scenes as they work so well. And the new scenes with Dreyfuss and Francais are just as good.

It is only when the film reaches the half way point, that it goes down hill. Clouseau is reported missing after his plane doesn't land, and it is up to a news reporter (played by Joanna Lumley) to document his life in order to piece together a possible solution to his disapearance.

During the second half the reporter interviews people that knew Clouseau, including a funny scene with Dreyfuss, Hercule his assisant from A Shot in the Dark and The Phantom played once again by a frail David Niven and Clouseau's ex-wfe. It is actually a pleasure to see these old faces, with the interviews being enhanced by the inclusion of clips from the past films.

The film ain't to bad at all, a few jokes go a bit to far, especailly in the costume shop and with Clouseaus father, but all in all an enjoyable movie.

If nothing else, it is a superb tribute to the late great Peter Seller. Worth a watch!

3.0 out of 5 stars One of the worst Pink Panther Films, 19 Mar. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
After the failed attempt to relaunch the series with Curse of the Pink Panther in the the early 80's, Blake Edwards waited a further decade before having another go, with The Son of the Pink Panther.
The film stars Roberto Benigni as Clouseaus Son, who must hunt down the gang behind a kidnapping. The overall story is rather lame, but the links with the other Pink Panther films make this a must see for fans of the series. Most of the jokes are un funny, but Herbert Lom as Dreyfuss is on top form as always along with Burt Kuok who plays Kato.
Unfortunatle the return of old cast members can't save the film, which has a completly different feel to it's predicessors from the poor opening credits to the end.
There are a few laughs but nothing really that funny. This release is exactly the previous with no added extras.
Only worth watching if you are a true Pink Panther fan, even then you'l be disapointed.
I've give this 2 stars only because it's a pink panther film, featuring several original cast members reminding me of the originals.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad collection, but!, 16 Mar. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This album has many great tracks taken from Suggs's two studio albums. So if you already own both albums there is very little point in owning this apart from the inclusion of Blue Day and a couple of remixes.

The track 'I am' is taken from the 'Three Pyramids Club' even states 'Welcome to the three pyramids club' before it starts, surely it would have made more sense to include the single version of it.

Furthermore the release has a very 'Cheap' feel about it with the booklet been a leaflet and the cover work consisting of a random picture of Suggs performing with Madness as the Dangermen.

People who are new to suggs will enjoy as it includes some of his best tracks, but for true fans it's not that worth while, unless you want to listen to blue day. But then again you could just down load that single track!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very much underated!, 7 Mar. 2009
Many critics panned this film upon it original for not been all that good, fair enough the film has some unfunny moments bt there are many funny scenes.
John Candy is excellent as he always is playing a detective who must find out the culprits behind a kidnap.
Worth a watch, but be warned the typical 80's music in the film has dated it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Different from later films but........., 4 Mar. 2009
This review is from: The Pink Panther [DVD] (DVD)
After watching 'The Pink Panther Strikes again' I couldn't wait to see the orginal. Initially I was a little disapointed as compared to the later films in the series but after watching the film again recently I have found it is much more funnier and clever than I ever remembered. Although David Niven's character is the centre of the story, Clouseau steals every scene he appears in. It shows Peter sellers at his very best as at every opportunity he has a clumsy accident, whether it is falling over or burning his hand.
The plot involving the Phantom (Niven), his nephew (Wagner) and Clouseau's wife is excellent, even though it can be confusing at times. One scene for example sees Clouseau's wife trying to hide Niven (who she is having an affair with) and Wagner (who wants an affair) in her bedroom, whilst Clouseau is there wanting a shower, this is classic comedy at it's best.
The film may appeared dated in places with a song sung in one stage and scenes that can be prolonged.
It may not be as funny as some films but the comedy is subtle and clever. It is very different from the following films but if you watch it with an open mind you'll love it.
This was the start of a great series!
