5.0 out of 5 stars Fun with a criminal cat, 10 Sept. 2012
Atticus Claw Breaks the Law is a great new kids book, which kept both me and my six-year-old daughter gripped, and her begging me for "just one more chapter".

It's the story of a master criminal cat burglar called Atticus Grammaticus Cattypuss Claw - a tabby cat who lives in Monaco, and takes on a job in England for a bunch of ruffian magpies who want him to steal all the town's humans' jewellery in revenge for the deaths of other birds.

I won't spoil the story but Atticus meets and stays with Inspector Cheddar and his family, and ends up pitting his wits the dastardly magpies.

My daughter is very excited about the two new Atticus Claw books promised in the next 12 months.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book... with a fatal (avoidable) flaw, 29 Aug. 2012
This review is from: The Windvale Sprites (Hardcover)
I read this book to my six-year-old daughter, who enjoyed the story, asked lots of questions and loved the author's illustrations.
Unfortunately the publishers have missed its potentially fatal flaw. Early on in the book there's a paragraph that explodes the myth of Father Christmas. There really should be a warning, or it be taken out of the next edition. I had to very quickly change the character to the Tooth Fairy to protect my girl's innocence about Santa. I really couldn't back out of it any other way - children know when you're trying to cover something up. If I'd known beforehand I could have skipped the paragraph.
As it is she now knows there's no such thing as the Tooth Fairy - rather ironic in a book about fairies...
Otherwise a lovely book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great intro to Windows 8, lots of read, 21 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This Complete Guide to Windows 8 is packed with information about Microsoft's next-gen operating system. I'm really looking forward to Windows 8, and this is the perfect starters' guide, with about 100 pages of tutorials and information.
There's a great introduction to the different versions of Windows 8 - why can't there just be one, like Apple does with Mac OS X?
The New Features section is indepth, and by reading this guide I think I'll be ready to really roll with Windows 8 as soon as it comes out later in the year.
Recommended!

Richard Hawley meets the Smiths... with a bit of prime-era Elvis thrown in for good measure. Great album! Never heard of him, read a rave review, bought the album, wrote a rave review... Pass it on!

So many standout tracks on this album it could be Loney Dear's best.
Sweet, sad, Swedish - what's not to like. This really is an amazing album, and you'd be nuts to miss out on something this wonderful.

Loney Dear is literally a one-man band, and this album is stunning. You should also catch him live - incredible. I can't recommend him or this album enough.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work with CompactFlash, 9 May 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This card reader simply doesn't live up to its claims to work with loads of memory cards. It failed to work with my CompactFlash card and even though I was very careful with it the card broke the pins in the reader (a common complaint if you read the other reviews here).

I sent the item back and two were dispatched to me very quickly, so good service, but sadly neither worked either.

So my advice is don't waste your money if you want a card reader to work with CompactFlash. I can't vouch for if it works with other memory cards, but I'd be suspicious to any claims for this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars As good as Julia Donaldson!, 31 Oct. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Chosing to have this book illustrated by Grufallo artist Axel Scheffler is a masterstroke, and the verse shows how much of a debt long-time Scheffler collaborator Julia Donaldson holds to TS Eliot.
Am must for all Eliot, Donaldson/Scheffler and cat fans.

The best book about Michael Caine after his own autobiography. Bray has really nailed the actor and the man.

It's not what you'd naturally expect from Arcade Fire but The Suburbs is an excellent 5-star album, and will be vying for album of the Year - make no mistake!
