1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible. Slow, 12 July 2017

Terrible. Slow, dull, bad acting, woodenly delivered lines. Luckily it was free with Prime. From the description, it's the sort of thing I normally love, so could easily have paid for it. I would have been even more disappointed if that were the case. Believe the critical reviews, not the glowing ones.

Sadly this book has been badly edited. Grammatical mistakes and very poor writing made it impossible to finish. The subject matter is interesting but at best this would make a short story after some (very) heavy pruning/rewriting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent first book!, 4 Sept. 2013

I loved this book. The dual dialogue worked really well, and it was believable. The tension between the characters was realistic, as were the times when they said what they meant, without all that faffing about with irritating misunderstandings and things left unsaid. Please hurry up and write another one. I'll even pay for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential reading, 22 July 2013
If you only read one book about keeping quail, then make it this one. It holds the hand of the complete beginner, offering sensible, practical advice in a readily accessible format. It also has the answers to the questions that more experienced keepers will be asking; there really is something for everyone. It's not all sunshine and light when you keep animals, and this book is down-to-earth about the problems you might encounter, which is essential. Too many people blunder into keeping poultry, of any type, without researching it first, and expect it all to go swimmingly. Well it's important to have somewhere to turn when things go wrong, and you will find the answers here, in this up-to-date book. Great photographs too!

3.0 out of 5 stars Surprised no-one has commented on.., 30 April 2012

the porn mag content. My 8 yr old daughter loved the first Walliams book she read, so we got her this one. I was disappointed to find myself having to explain what a porn magazine is. It goes on to say the father hides his, and the older brother takes them. If she had spotted one in a shop and asked, then fair enough, but to find it in a children's' book was not appropriate. I've given this three stars for this reason. Apart from that it's a great book, well-written, funny and greatly enjoyed.
