Making a Start in N Gauge Railway Modelling
Making a Start in N Gauge Railway Modelling
by Richard Bardsley
Edition: Paperback
Price: £15.90

5.0 out of 5 stars A good all round N Gauge Model Railway Reference, 8 Dec. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I had borrowed this from the library and renewed it quite a few times and since I found it a sufficiently worthwhile reference book, I decided to buy it.
The section on tracklaying was particularly useful.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good piece of software for making 3d Digital Art and ..., 3 Oct. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A very good piece of software for making 3d Digital Art and Animation, as with most software aimed at 'proffessionals' it takes an amount of effort to learn how to get the most from it but once mastered it can be very rewarding, in the sense of 'I did that'.
There is a very large freeware community over at sharecg which provides a multitude of additional content across many genres and on youtube there are many tutorials on line catering for full range of ability from the absolute beginner right up to masterclasses.

5.0 out of 5 stars the addition of the 'soft feel' grip makes holding the pencil comfortable and easy to use, 17 Aug. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A well designed re-vamp of the old 'Burgundy Red' Rotring mechanical pencils, the addition of the 'soft feel' grip makes holding the pencil comfortable and easy to use, an improvement on the solid 'series of bulges' style grip. Got it at a reasonable price too.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good introduction to programming in Java, 12 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A well written introduction to programming in Java, covering the basics of object oriented coding and going in deep enough to introduce lambda functions. All the main elements of program control are well covered and there are a multitude of examples throughout the to aid understanding of the concepts introduced.
I had previously obtained the sample chapter and table of contents from the publishers website so had an appreciation of the authors style and level of detail, sufficient to want to read more.
The only area where the book falls down, hence four stars, is that of operator input to text fields, the book mentions this only in passing with a surprising lack of examples. However there is always the www to fill in any gaps.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good value Intel i7 16GB Windows 7 Computer, 7 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Initial messages as it boots for the first time are in German - some alternating with the English translation others not but when it came to setting the Windows 7 install options the first dialog was to select the language, after everything is done in English.
On the Windows Experience Index the processor and memory sections scored 7.8 and 6.6 for the 3D graphics, so I was well pleased. I'm using the machine mainly for programming and testing software but also for processing very large numbers of night sky images to produce a single photo, hence being pleased by the raw processing power of the computer (quad core i7 @ 3.6 GHz & 16GB DDR3). It's also much quieter that my previous computer.
Had never heard of CSL before and some of the reviews of other models weren't that encouraging but there seemed more good than bad so I went ahead and am very pleased with the decision.

4.0 out of 5 stars A useful modelling tool, 18 Dec. 2014

What can be said, when the instructions are followed it embosses a 'rivet' patten in thin sheet metals and plastics. Can also substitute as a pattern marker by piercing tiny holes in pattern paper for chalking

4.0 out of 5 stars Replacement Blades for the X-acto #X7747 Foam Board / Mat Cutter, 18 Dec. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An essential accessory for the X-acto #X7747 Foam Board / Mat Cutter. After a few dozen long cuts on a mix of 3mm & 5mm Foam Board and 2mm Mount Board the blade starts to lose its sharpness leading to a slightly woolly appearance on the cut edge. These blades are relatively inexpensive and as they are reversible effectively doubles the quantity in the pack.

4.0 out of 5 stars A perfectly functional 90 & 45 degree Foam Board / Mat Cutter, 18 Dec. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Works as billed, has the facility to cut slots too - if required. The blade securing/stop screw can be reversed making the cutter equally suitable for left handed people. The blade can be reversed to gain extra life - essential as cutting card dulls the blade edge quite quickly and if not regularly replaced can lead to a poor cut.
