4.0 out of 5 stars Quick, easy read and interesting., 7 Jun. 2014

A collection of mass school shootings throughout history, up to modern day.

Each one is written in a short report style which gives you a synopsis of the shooting, a brief bio of the perpetrator or perpetrators, and then a more detailed write up of the events of the fateful day.

It is a very short book that can be read in a couple of hours, but then if you want to learn more about one particular incident you can buy a book about that event.

2.0 out of 5 stars If you like characters being told to "get some sleep"..., 7 Jun. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Ark Royal (Kindle Edition)
The basic storyline of the book is quite interesting. And being set in the Royal Navy of the future is a novel idea (no pun intended) that holds great promise.

However, the characters, plot development and writing don't live up to the potential of the original idea. To say the cast is formulaic is a huge understatement. From the old ship with its drunk Captain, the ambitious First Officer, to the washed up Flight Commander with a failing marriage and a moral dilemma.

The thing that really grated on me was the dialogue. When characters meet throughout the book, they have almost EXACTLY the same conversations with each other. On top of this, the number of times one character tells another character to "get some sleep" is ridiculous. Seriously. Once I noticed it (which didn't take very long) it really began to grate on me. At one point it seemed like every couple of pages, someone was being told to get some sleep. There's one bit where the Captain and First Officer spend over a page actually arguing over who should go and get some sleep first. "Go get some sleep" "No, you go get some sleep" "Okay, I'll get a couple of hours' sleep but then you have to get some sleep". Really? The Royal Navy of the future spends all its time sending each other to bed?

I didn't hate the book, but it was hard to keep reading it at times. I don't think I'll be reading this author again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Ipod case, shame about the belt clip., 19 Mar. 2009
Like a lot of the other reviews about this product, I really like the case but hate the huge belt clip.
The soft leather and white stitching on the case give it a really nice look and feel which I think perfectly suit the design quality of the Ipod Classic. The magnetic clasp is also very good and engages very easily and firmly.
The belt clasp however is everything the case isn't. It's really poorly designed, huge and clunky and above all, for such a nice looking case, it's really really ugly.
In short. If the case looks like it was designed by a fine Italian craftsman, the clasp looks like it was made in Cold War Russia.
