This review is from: Vivian Maier (Hardcover)
An undiscovered talent is a rarity and we are privileged to be able now to see the world of Vivian Maier as she captured it over many years. The intimacy of her street portraits are unequalled and her capture of light and shadow show the city to its best advantage.

Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars Master Photographer, 3 May 2014

Anyone who visits Paris will appreciate the sheer scale and scope of the work of Brassai. His moody shots of a misty Seine or Canal St Martin are captured in his own unique style as are the brief moments caught in the bars and clubs which he frequented. The epitome of Paris of the thirties it is a must for anyone interested in this most beautiful of all cities.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read., 30 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An extraordinary story about a clearly unusual man. Forger, conman, philanderer and photographer. The story romps easily from Australia to the UK, the USA and back to Australia and from darkroom to courtroom with ease. Eloquently written it highlights the story and influences of this unique man with humour and skill.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Bio which confirms Rodger's place in the ranks of the best photojournalists of all time, 30 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An excellent biography of the lesser known partner of Capa, Chim and HCB in setting up the celebrated Magnum Picture Agency. This volume places Rodger firmly on the map as one of the major photojournalists of his time ranking in stature to the better known Capa. Rodger's work in WW2 as well as afterwards in Africa rank him as one of the best. This book explore his influences, family background and the demons which haunted him after the success of his images of the atrocities at Belsen concentration camp. It is not a hagiography and it honestly assesses his family life, his good points and bad.
