5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, the Donner version., 23 Sept. 2006
Well, I cannot wait for this version of Superman II to be released.

Let me just explain a little for the people that don't know the full story.

Director Richard Donner had already shot most of the Superman II footage during Superman: The Movie, about 75% of the sequel had been completed. But as production on the sequel continued, creative differences between the director and the film's producers became irreconcilable and Donner was fired from the project. Although new Director Richard Lester was hired to finish production, he chose to make major changes to the film, leaving only vestiges of Donner's original vision and concepts in the version of Superman II that was ultimately released to theatres.

Now, nearly thirty years later, Warner Bros grant the wishes of countless Superman fans. With this DVD release, Richard Donner has become the first director in history to be able to complete a film he left during production with nearly all his footage unseen.

So now we have a brand new Superman movie with Christopher Reeve.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb!, 30 April 2006
A movie that starts out with the "Man in the Mirror" music video which was captured on stage of two Michael performances, it then changes to a montage of video clips of Michael's amazing career with fantastic footage from the Jackson 5 days and Motown 25.

Next comes a parody of his 'Bad' video by children who perform 'Badder', and then Michael is chased by fans in a fantasy sequence. Two more videos are shown which includes 'Leave Me Alone' and the fantastic claymation mini-movie of 'Speed Demon'.

The movie now begins in which Michael plays a hero with magical powers. In it he is chased by drug dealer Mr. Big (Joe Pesci) and saves three children while turning into the super car and the Jackson robot.

Also included is the spectacular 20 minute piece of music film which is unquestionably the best video of all time 'Smooth Criminal' and finishes with Michael live on stage to perform 'Come Together'

AMAZING, and fan will love this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb DVD Release for Occasional Python Fan., 7 Feb. 2006
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you're a serious Monty Python fan then this set will probably upset you due to the major lack of content, but if your the occasional Python fan who just likes the classic sketch then this is just right for you.
Being a compilation of the best moments from the series it features such classics as 'Hells Grannies', 'Dead Parrots', 'Spanish Inquisition' and of course 'Ministry of Silly Walks'.
This limited edition Box-Set contains 4 DVDs in total, The Best of Monty Python volumes 1-3 each lasting well over an hour, and the fourth DVD features the Pythons live at Aspen filmed in 1998 where the team discuss and perform their favourite sketches. It was the first time in 18 years that all the Python's had appeared on stage together (the late Graham Chapman making his appearance in an urn).
A great comedy DVD set to own for any real comedy lover and at a fantastic price from Amazon, contains over 5 and half hours.
Hope my review helped someone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bruce's finest movie., 4 Feb. 2006
Wow, this is one fully packed out DVD surprisingly all on one disc which is great. At last, the complete uncut version of Bruce Lee’s masterpiece ‘Way of the Dragon’ has been digitally restored and remastered for DVD transfer.
This is the only self-directed project he ever did and it shows, in my mind this is better than ‘Enter the Dragon’. Now re-instated are the 10-minutes of incredible hi-impact fight footage previously prohibited by the BBFC, including Bruce’s stunning double nunchaku battle sequence which is totally unique to this movie, you just want to keep re-watching the scene again and again. So the movie is now available to the UK audience just as director Bruce Lee intended originally.
The special features for this title include, digitally restored movie, 16:9 Anamorphic version enhanced for widescreen, audio commentary with Bey Logan and Jon Benn, AC3 5.1 digital audio, original trailer, photo gallery, rare on location photo gallery, reflections on ‘The Little Dragon’ promo and making of ‘Way of the Dragon’ text files. So all-in-all this is one great DVD with stunning extra’s and its all on one disc, a dream for Bruce Lee fans everywhere.
Hope my review helped someone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superman: The original and best superhero movie ever!, 4 Feb. 2006
Finally, we the region-2 market get a complete DVD release of all the Christopher Reeve Superman films in a lovely smart DVD package box-set like the United States and Japanese release.
Richard Donner’s 1978 Superman movies, Superman: The Movie and Superman II are clearly the best 2 superhero movies ever made, but its a real shame that only the first movie was made into a special edition while the others didn’t get the same star treatment when transferred to DVD format.
Superman: The Movie got a great DVD release which includes a total re-mastered movie with superb picture quality and presented in true widescreen format, including 8 new added scenes, 5.1 super surround sound, two 30-minute documentaries with cast interviews, rare Christopher Reeve 1977 test shots, and deleted scenes which is all a hell of a DVD.
In this DVD set Superman II, Superman III and Superman IV: The Quest For Peace have only been transferred straight to DVD format from the original source, so even though the picture quality is still brilliant and their presented in widescreen also, these movies are only in 2.0 audio stereo sound and come with their original trailers, that’s it for the movies and extra features, nothing when compared to what Superman: The Movie is packed out with.
I have heard a few rumours that Warner Bros have special editions planned for the other 3 movies later this year. This could well be true because as we all know (well Superman fans anyway) the new Superman Returns movie will open this year for 2006’s summer blockbuster, which means a DVD release 3 months after cinema release so they may plan to release the original Superman movies on special edition DVD around the same time to coincide with the new movie, just like they released all 4 Batman movies on special edition along side the Batman Begins cinema release last year, lets just hope.
Hope my review helped someone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, but does have an enquired taste., 12 Jan. 2006
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
One of my best comedy DVDs in my collection. Why oh why doesn’t this brilliant series ever get repeats on BBC1 or BBC3 instead of seeing the overrated 'Little Britain' and very annoying 'Two Pints' every night?
Wacky, bizarre and unique similar to the classic 'Monty Python' and 'The Fast Show' (also my favourite sketch shows) Big Train is right up there. From the creators of the hilarious 'Father Ted' Graham Linehan and Arthur Matthews. Also includes a fantastic cast…Kevin Eldon, Simon Pegg, Mark Heap, Julia Davis Amelia Bullmore and Rebecca Front (many who have worked and stared with Steve Coogan in his Alan Partridge series.
Never got recognised enough when originally transmitted in 1998 so the second series which followed 4 years later and wasn’t quite as strong from a writing point of view didn’t have a chance, so the Big Train is probably not very well known today just like the amazing 'Perfect World' which stared Paul Kaye in 2000 and 'The Peter Principle' which was another brilliant BBC comedy to run in the late nineties which stared Jim Broadbent. Great BBC comedies all which ran once with no repeats with the rubbish we get today on ITV2 and BBC3, the best thing comedy wise on today is 'Peep Show' and 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'.
Does have an enquired taste, but please try it.

5.0 out of 5 stars How many of Kay fans don't understand this DVD? A lot!, 7 Jan. 2006
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Listen everybody who thinks Peter Kay is trying to con you, of course this DVD is going to contain the same material as the 2003 'Bolton Albert Halls' gig as it from the same live tour, I'll say it again for you, its from the SAME tour which is the "Mum wants a new Bungalow tour".
PLEASE READ TO UNDERSTAND. Exactly how music tours are done, say for instance (my favourite artist) Michael Jackson's 1992 Dangerous tour at random, he performed his Dangerous tour (of music from his Dangerous album of course) all over the world containing over 140 live shows, you wouldn't expect him to perform anything else would you apart from his Dangerous music material at each and every venue he did, it would of course be the same.
This is exactly what Peter is doing - touring, it's the same gig/material as 'Bolton Albert Halls' because its from the same tour which is "Mum wants a new Bungalow tour" this is just filmed at another venue as part of his live tour to another audience which is in Manchester, if you want both DVDs then buy both but you don't have to, pick your favourite on how you think Peter performed - its personal isn't it? Which one did you prefer him in, just like how you would rate one live music album is better than another live music album from the same group on the same tour.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm gonna look like a right dickie-doo-da without this DVD!, 6 Jan. 2006
Stumbled across this DVD last year which is hard to believe. I remember watching the first series when originally aired in 1995 (my god is it 10 years?) but didn’t know there was a DVD release of it yet so I bought it right away. What a bargin from amazon.co.uk of only £9.99, I would pay twice that for this classic.
Couldn’t wait for this to arrive and re-live All those memories from Raymond and Grim’s banter. Series 2 I slightly favour more for funnier moments, yet I prefer Cray (the one who’s always eating) rather than the big guy he was replaced with (from ‘The Full Monty’) in the second series.
Why doesn’t this show get a repeat on the BBC? We have to see ‘Little Britain’ and ‘Two Pints’ every night on BBC3, why don’t they throw some classics on? I think this show didn’t get the recognition it deserved when transmitted which is a shame with the amount of poor television we have had in the last few years, give it another chance and please repeat it.
The only small criticism I have with this DVD release is that it doesn’t feature a ‘Play’ All’ facility, so if you plan to have a night in and watch all 7 episodes from either series you have to press play every single time for each episode when they finish, but it was a 2001 release when ‘Play All’ didn’t happen as much.
I don’t really care about extra features like everyone else, your paying for the main material weather it’s a movie or TV programme, the extras are exactly what they are…extras. The show is good enough, and I like how both series are in one DVD case so its altogether and only taking up one space in your collection, like ‘The Big Train’ DVD.
Go on, give it a watch and you’ll be laughing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thee original and best CGI movie!, 5 Jan. 2006
Although I did love 'The Incredibles' last year. Gets a suitable DVD re-release in December 2005 to mark the 10th anniversary of the original release date, my god has it been 10 years?
Pixar and Disney tend to release great DVDs and making the extra effort to make them two-disc sets, presenting the movie in 5.1 surround also with THX entertainment and adding a stack full of special features. This release has no differences.
I do have in my DVD collection 'Toy Story', 'A Bugs Life', 'Shrek 1 and 2' and 'The Incredbles'. These are the best CGI movies made for adults and children.
I can't recommend Toy Story and The Incredibles enough to any age group.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, British comedy., 4 Jan. 2006
Got this DVD for Christmas with a load of other live stand-up DVDs also and I have to say this comes out on top.
I had heard a bit of Al Murray’s pub land lord character in 2004 and obviously seen him with comedy partner Harry Hill when he played his big brother Alan. Then last year I spotted the ITV1 programme ‘An audience with Al Murray” and it was one of the funniest live shows I have ever seen.
Then watched this DVD and was in hysterics, can’t removed this show enough, I will be ordering his other 2 live shows from Amazon soon and really hope they release ‘An audience with’ this year (the one where he gets dean Gaffney to sing, and gives a pint to that ginger kid out of the Harry Potter movies)
5 out of 5 viewing, Al’s shows does depend a lot I have to say on the type of audience he gets for that gig as he plays jokes of them all night and for this you have to be very talented at ad-lobbing and thinking of jokes on the spot, Al does this to a tee, just watch.
