5.0 out of 5 stars even better than i imagined, 3 Feb. 2013
the one i ordered on amazon didn't arrive... eventually i asked for my money back and went down to pc world to buy one.
this is a revelation: almost instantly on, and despite being very different to a windows based laptop is very intuitive. and, well, for anybody who's a little bit geeky it's great fun learning about the chromebook and marvelling at how lean and efficient the whole concept is.
uploading all of my music to google play, and it's available wherever i can log on to chrome.
can't praise this product highly enough and i think it won't be long now until traditional desktops and laptops will truly have had their day. get one!

3.0 out of 5 stars white gold..... but base metal too, 22 Sept. 2011

for me the least fulfilled Ladytron album yet.
However, and confusingly, i think it has some of the band's best ever tracks: White Gold is astonishing and ambitious - i can't stop playing it!
The second half of the album i just don't get: where are the gorgeous melodies that Ladytron so often deliver?

5.0 out of 5 stars a happy surprise, 24 Mar. 2009

i've always been in two minds about royksopp: there are moments of sheer genius, but then long stretches of .... not a lot. so i was very pleasantly surprised by this album! it has a consistency i've not picked up on from previous outings. the guest vocals are great: particularly like robyn on 'the girl and the robot' as it's nice to hear people stretching their comfort zone sometimes. standout tracks for me are 'vision one' and 'miss it so much'.
even if you've not warmed to royksopp before give this a go as i really think it's in a different league.

5.0 out of 5 stars engaging and intricate, 20 Sept. 2005

i guess i was shocked to see this album with a two star rating! since its' release it's been an almost constant feature of my musical life, becoming a familiar soundtrack to dark winter nights when you want to go to bed early or cosy up on the sofa and let your mind wander to the darkness and strangeness outside the window.
through the use of bursts of shortwave radio broadcasting hoisted up on layers of relentlessly tense and menacing background noise, a suggestion of the intricacies and possibilities of sound as music emerges from your speakers and grips you in an icy and perfect clasp. even this many years on, the recurring eddy of ghostly noise on 'plight' makes my heart beat faster and sometimes elicits a nervous look round the room. try this album out, and listen enough to become familiar with its form...you won't be disappointed!
