Read this after searching for new authors. Maggie can shift between this world and the monster world, she hunts down those pesky monsters that break through to our world. Started off quite easy, getting to know her background and the plot. However, fight scenes are not well written, one minute she's hanging out the car, second she is stabbing her stake through the car roof....action in here is lousy. The banter between her and the hunky pointy eared elf is sooo tedious, the one line jokes fall flat. Eg, let's watch some J Springer, oops can't, not the same since I staked him! I mean really! Would suit bored teenagers! Not recommended as it does not flow well at all.sporodic and confusing in the simplest terms. Sorry xx

For those who do not know Marc Tufo, start with Zombie Fallout 1, and work your way merrily along to Zombie Fallout 6. Hand on heart, you will not be disappointed. He writes with gore, humor and a barrel of laughs along the Zombie lines. This book picks up with Mike and his merry band of survivors. Not to give anything away, I would recommend these books to anyone with a funny bone and a taste for a different aspect on Zombies!! Read them all ;)))) Nice going Marc!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Good ;(, 20 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Decided to try a different author, and reading some of the reviews, this seemed ideal. A fresh twist on Zombies. However, no matter how hard I tried to read it, I could not get into the story line, the characters or anything about this ill written book. The characters are flimsy, the twist u can see it coming from miles back. Its not well written, and would of expected any 13-15 year old to come up with something better than this. Really, Really a disappointment. I will read everything and anything, but this stays in the Do Not Recommed pile. For those that left glowing reviews - I have no idea what book you were reviewing, but this surly wasnt the one.

The Fate Of The Dwarves
The Fate Of The Dwarves

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovin It!, 7 Nov. 2012

Markus Heitz is one of those prolific authors, who never skip, shorten or leave the reader in a state of is that it! He writes with such care and attention nothing is left out. I have read (and enjoyed) all of his Dwarves books. This one continues the story of Tungdil and his escape from what can only be perceived as the depths of hell. From here on, he is on a mission to stop the monsters and creatures taking over. The book twists and turns, and you are never sure what side Tungdil is on, or is he something else entirely? Irkheart is back with a vengence, chopping and dicing with his famous beak. What I liked more however was the banter between the characters, the dwalven sense of humor in the most perilious of occassions. I cannot give this book enough stars, but would suggest to other readers, that they start with Book One, as they would be missing a lot of flesh and bones. Its worth the read, packed with gore, love and loss. Read them all, you will not be disappointed!

2.0 out of 5 stars Editing needed!, 7 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Downloaded after reading some good reviews, but to be honest it did not live up to my expectations. I was suprised just how much detail the author could cram into the book, like what type of water heater, gun or clothing his characters used. Reading became tedious but i stayed with it, only to find much of the same. Its reads more like a survival guide in parts, what to pack and what not to pack in case of emergency break glass approach. The story, is easy to follow there are no twists and turns or scary parts or even gory parts. Its just a read about a Pandemic and how it will eventually effect a small street. Faced with limited resources its a struggle to survive, but the main character being an X Marine knows how to survive and is prepared. Only to be chastised by his community/neighbours when there food/heat/water/innoculations begin to dwindle does it take on a more humanistic picture. sorry but read far better versions of this kind of story. Hence only two stars.....More editing needed and more gore and character definition would of helped.....;(

Always loved Terry Brookes, dont know why but Ive read everything this guy has printed without complaints. However, I think that this story line is way to similar to his previous writing/novels. I think he needs to refresh his way of thinking in some parts of the story lines. For those that have not read Terry Brookes previous works, well I guess you will throughly enjoy this second helping! The story continues, mankind and elven are fighting for there homeland, which was protected with magic, now the magic is down and they have to come face to face with an invading Troll army and a Demon who will stop at nothing to get what he desires..mainly the Magic Rod carried by the Staff Bearer.
It weaves in and out of there lives, as the story progresses, mainly running around a forest, being hungry, thirsty and trying to save mankind from the invasion and this rather miffed off ancient demon. It does continue to repeat itself from different prespectives, but I guess hes just trying to fill out the pages. He does however make the characters feel real, and somewhere you feel for them as they ramble on through the book. And I do MEAN Ramble! Will get the third book, as I dont want to miss out on the ending. However, I do feel a bit of a let down, as the areas he writes about are very very familiar with his other older works. FOur stars as I enjoyed it, but did flick through a few ramblings as they were repetative. Four stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tufo rocking the house, 19 April 2012

Having read the other Zombie Fall out books, I couldnt wait till I got my "Fix" of the Talbot family antics in Alive in a Dead World. This one deals again with the Talbot family and friends as they try to survive the Zombie Apocolypse and dreaded Vampire that controls them. I would suggest reading the previous books before this one, just to add flavour to the characters. Talbot and Crew are trying to survive in an apocolyptic zombie infested USA. Armed with a few guns, a few friends and a barrel of laughs along the way, not to mention a few sad goodbuys to some of his friends as they progress through this book. I could rant and rave about the characters, but think other reviewers have already covered that. So I will keep it Simples, would recommend reading these books in a nano-second. Took me a while to finish it, as I was fuming and doing my Stephen King "Misery" when I read the part where my favourite toon got bitten! (still stomping around the room!) Hope there will be another to follow and sooner the better, as I did not like the ending very much.......(No Spoiler Alerts!) Buy it, you will not be disappointed!! Five stars!

Babe on Board - A Harry McGlade/Jack Daniels Mystery

Ja Konrath does it again, this has to be one of my fav stories following Harry mcGlade/Jack Daniels series. Its all about Harry McGlade with a sprinkling of Jack Daniels, but it does not disappoint. Harry McGlade is a side kick to Jack Daniels story lines. He has appeared three times in short stories taking up main roles, but this one just takes the biscuit...I laughed throughout the story, its humerous in the only way Harry can be!
Harry meets girl...Harry saves girl...Girl becomes pregnant....and inbetween that story you find yourself laughing your socks off, or cringing as some of the wise man remarks Harry manages to get away with! Only prob with this book, its tooo darn short!! WOuld recommend reading, even though its short...;) ty

Downloaded this due to the Play and Movie, would prefer to read them before I watch them on stage or TV as reading gives you more satisfaction and stimulates the imagination far greater. However, even though it delivers on the Ghostly scenes rather well, I was not really drawn into the characters, they seemed to be unfleshed out and just meandering through the story. It does have great scenic descriptions of the house, the environment and the rooms, but leaves the reader a little flat. I tried reading the book at night, with the lights down low just to add to the atmosphere, but sorry to say, nothing happened to intrigue or scare me. Only thing I had was eye strain. The only character in this book worth considering is the dog....The story line is old fashioned as Hammer Horror. Arthur (main character) is sent to Eel Marsh House to put a dead womans paper work together. The house is empty and is seperated from the village via a swamp....only access is by horse and trap at certain times of the day...Arthur travels down to get them. In an empty house he then proceeds to try to allocate the documents he needs. As the story line progresses he is faced with ghostly apparitions and bumps in the night. Im not one for spoiler alerts so you will have to read it for the ending. I can see why schools have chosen this book for students to study, its descriptive and atmospheric, lots of talking/discussion points. Glad im not a student, its one of those books where they try to use up so many descriptive words, you end up with eye strain and start yawning. Hence only 3 stars........good luck to the students studying this book, me, I would prefer Kes by barry Heinz to study!

Having now read the majority of JA Konrath I downloaded this gem of a book to keep me entralled. It comprises of short stories and a few Jack Daniel tales thrown in for good measure. Be warned that some of the stories are rather graphic, after all they are horror, and yet some of the stories are so funny you will find yourself chuckling to yourself! There are "Jack and Friends" stories, "Crime Stories" "Horror Stories" and "Funny Stuff". It covers all readers genre. I have read some of the stories before in other books, but to be honest, re-read them again, as they are that good and I love re-reading JA Konrath. The stories are well written and worth the download/read. Was mighty sad they came to an end. My fav story has to be "A Fistful of Cozy" whick pokes a tickling stick at Miss Marple (type)! TY for a great read, would love another 65 stories to keep me entralled! Would recommend to any Horror/fun/crime person to try reading some of this without being scared whilst laughing your socks off at the others. Good Holiday reading!
