SPARES2GO Mini Turbo Turbine Brush for All Main Models of Dyson Vacuum Cleaner
Offered by SPARES-2-GO
Price: £10.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Works fine!, 20 Aug. 2017

I found the original Dyson turbo brush too heavy to use on a regular basis ;it made my wrist ache!
This brush , although not as good quality plastic as the Dyson , is in my opinion far easier to handle and works fine!

4.0 out of 5 stars The definitive series on air accidents, 20 Aug. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Air Disaster: Vol. 1 (Paperback)
As a retired UK controller, I have long had a professional and personal interest in flight safety.
This series of Air Disaster books must be the definitive account of the most well known air accidents of the past decades.
All of the most serious and influential disasters affecting air safety and human factors are present here.
The author gives an authorative account of the causes and outcomes of each air accident in a separate chapter,
with clear illustrations to accompany the texts.
It can be difficult to find copies of the series ,especially the propliner issue , but I recommend you make the effort
as this series is an excellent read.

Seventies Ringway: Manchester Airport 1970-1979 (Ringway Through the Decades)
Seventies Ringway: Manchester Airport 1970-1979 (Ringway Through the Decades)
by Mark Williams
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous read for plane spotters!!, 20 Aug. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As a keen planespotter at Manchester during the 1970's this was a "must have" book!
I had to pay a small fortune for a copy as it is out of print and scarce but I think it was worth it!

The book consists of a 10 year log of aircraft movements at Ringway, with some additional notes
and anecdotes from the author ;I must have rubbed shoulders with him on the viewing terraces without realising it at the time!
The photos are nostalgic and well scattered through the pages.

I think you will enjoy this book best (if you can find a copy!) by dipping into it from time to time, rather than reading it from cover to cover.
This is what I am doing ; I have had the book for maybe 6 months and am up to 1973 when I started spotting!
Your way of enjoying this book to the max may vary however!

As a blast of nostalgia , when spotters could actually walk on the Ringway pier terraces with binocs, notebook and sandwiches in your rucksack, before all viewing sights were closed by terrorist threats , this is pure delight!
PS I do think you need to have been a UK spotter to enjoy this book , otherwise you will wonder why you bought it!!

Pilot Error: The Human Factors
Pilot Error: The Human Factors
by Ronald Hurst
Edition: Hardcover

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit too dry a reading experience for my liking, 20 Aug. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As I retired controller I was looking forward to reading this book .

Having read it I have to say that although the analysis of human factors is exhaustive and very scientific,
I found it too dry for my liking, lacking the pilot perspective and actual aircraft incident information.
I am finding the Macarthur Job "Air Disaster" series much more interesting I have to say.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm very pleased I bought this scanner!, 20 Aug. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I'm so glad I bought this scanner ; I was going to buy one of the cheaper models that are in the £50 to £70 range
commonly seen in catalogues etc. but for not a lot more ( £120 in my case when I bought it) you get a really nice quality scanner which is capable of really nice results
I have so far scanned about 150 films so thats heading towards 5000 scans and this scanner had been working just fine.

Heres my experience of using the scanner for about 4 months.

Most importantly , YOU MUST BE PATIENT TO GET DECENT RESULTS!!

The quick scan takes about 30 seconds , scanning a neg at 2400dpi (my default setting as a balance between quality and scan time)
takes about a minute.Using 3600dpi for better fine detail takes maybe 2-3 minutes
So scanning a 36 roll neg can take about an hour to set up and save at highest resolution but its up to you what quality you want to achieve!

Scanning at lower res will take much shorter time if you just want "contact sheet" style scans and then you could just pick
a select few as favourites to scan at higher res.

The Silverfast software works just fine for me ; one thing I would say is I prefer to scan using as few filters and adjustments as possible
from the Silverfast software and just use Photoshop to adjust my scans afterwards.Prescans can be easily cropped to your desired ratio and to remove the rough black edges of the neg frame
One quirk of the prescan is that sometimes the prescan works at what is clearly a low resolution as the image lacks the normal detail that you usually see in the prescan
However, when you scan , the saved image will be scanned at the correct resolution!
I have never found out why this happens but if you prescan a second time it will show the detail if you need it.

The neg holder works fine but once a neg strip is inserted , I often need to gently tap the holder to get the neg strip to align properly
and I always use a blower brush on the holder before inserting in the device.
The seals on the scanner seem to work well in keeping dust out of the innards ; I have not noticed any dust on the scanned images from the scanner bed itself ( but too many from my less than perfect negatives unfortunately!)

The plastic clip that you press on to clip the holder together lasted about 100 films and then it snapped off, leaving the holder too loose
to hold the neg strip tightly.
After cursing for not buying a spare holder I solved the problem easily ; just put a bit of duct tape across the clip area ; the thickness of the tape provides enough friction to close the holder tightly again.Job Done!
It worked for me but your experience may differ ; spare holders are not expensive

This must be the classic " when I retire" job to be done when you have the time to devote to it, like me!

I have about another 25 films to scan but I feel this scanner has already paid for itself and I highly recommend it
Dont waste money on a cheap scanner ; you only want to do this once so spend the extra and do the job properly!
Get a decent scanner like this one!

Sentinel 389200 88008 X200 Boiler De-scaler 1 Litre
Offered by Trade Supplies Online
Price: £18.99

3.0 out of 5 stars Works fine for a while then needs replacing, 20 Aug. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have used this for several years as my boiler is ancient and suffers from kettling noise.
What happens is that the product cuts the noise significantly for maybe a year but then loses its effectiveness
and needs to be replaced ; still its cheaper than a new boiler!

360 Leather Rotate Case Stand Folio Cover For Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 T530 T535 (Blue)
Offered by Reedax World
Price: £4.49

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice case stand for the Tab 4, 20 Aug. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This case works nicely with my Tab 4.
If I have one criticism it is that the grooves to make the tab stand up are too shallow
so the tab slides out easily, but despite this I am glad I bought it.
