Waking Up: Searching for Spirituality Without Religion
Waking Up: Searching for Spirituality Without Religion
by Sam Harris
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars Meditation, Spiritualism, Spiritual, Sam Harris, Advice, Help, Selfhelp, 13 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Sam Harris is his usual honest self. Covering his own personal thoughts on what it means to be 'spiritual'. Commonly, to many, it meant very little, and only certain experiences in various spiritual disciplines have taught him there is something real to be gained from such experiences. Many people will find his realistic advice helpful, to their personal selves, particularly his meditation tips.

3.0 out of 5 stars Problems with the device, 5 Oct. 2015
Loved it at first, but now owned it two years, and problems are developing. Cuts off randomly the power on the headphones and it gets annoying. Turning them on as quick as possible everytime they cut means its a faulty device.

5.0 out of 5 stars A legend we all know and love., 2 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
From its humble beginings, to the modern day. Elder Scrolls franchise is a popular, well loved series. However, Only getting into the game with Oblivion first, then burning thousands of hours on both Oblivion and Skyrim. I can safely say this was a mustby. Great value, Excellent packaging. Lovely artwork. Easy access to the older titles in the series. Of course the first two games in the series are highly dated by today's standards. But really can be enjoyable if given a chance.

2.0 out of 5 stars Better Printer Needed!, 2 Nov. 2014
The letters on the page are not printed properly, correctly, or clearly. It is somewhat disappointing. Fortunately I have very good eyesight so with some concentration can still make out what's being said. However, this is not how it should be, and a proper edition of this book should be made and reprinted.

This review is from: Why We Get Sick (Paperback)
It's impossible for me to understand how people can deny evolution when it explains so much! Once you understand biology, you know evolution is a fact of life. This book explains another aspect of biology we often don't like to be victims of... illness. However, that too is a product of evolution and has reasons for its existence. Enlightening stuff, and very informative.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely reminder of the precious state of life. :), 2 Nov. 2014

It is not really a decorative piece, it feels slightly more for medical purposes, or for anatomy & biology students. However I really liked it for what it is, and it sits on my bookshelf between some books. :)

3.0 out of 5 stars A wise man., 2 Nov. 2014

Absorb what you like, discard what you don't. I found some things in the book seemingly written without justification but appeal to emotion.

I consider spirituality to be an intensely private experience and to the individual to make their own spiritual path, absorbing what resonates well with them. Indeed Osho has profound words of wisdom to share, and great insights.

Selective when reading spiritual "gurus" - whiles absorbing the source of many spiritual foundations, "scriptures" for my own understanding.

Contributions by iconic writers make this book an enjoyable read. Thought provoking, intellectual stimulation and insights. They really are well picked writings by Christopher, "Essential" is the right word!
We lost an absolute treasure with the passing of Christopher Hitchens. - His legacy of education in logic, rationality, and intellectual growth, lives on.

5.0 out of 5 stars A typical Roman, 2 Nov. 2014

I'm a sucker for history. This is like peeking back in time at one mans mundane everyday life. You'd see no difference from the way we communicate today, how society values are not all really that different. Just different times, different attitudes, but.... all too human. Love it!
