Queen Unseen-Peter Hince A Great Read, 8 Nov. 2011
A great, rollicking rollercoaster of a read. For someone not that familiar with the lifestyle on the road, this book brings to life the variety, the buzz and often the sheer zaniness of the experience. It is clear being a roadie offered one of the best opportunities for travel, albeit with long hours and obstructive red tape thrown in. The book is alternately funny, revealing and occasionally outrageous (and envy-inducing). But it is never cheap and sordid. Ratty gives a real insider view of what it is like to be so close to, and share in, serious worldwide fame. And despite the inevitable superstar tantrums, there is genuine affection in his description of touring with Freddie and the other band members.
The text is accompanied by superb photos, which capture the full gamut of emotions that was Queen.
This is a fantastic page-turner, which kept me going in both central London and central Asia. Simply the best rock and roll book I have read-a great buy.
