Trainers were bought for my 15 year old. They are very smart and the velcro means they're not always coming undone as he walks around. A great purchase so far. Kappa used to be a very fashionable brand. Not so much now, but these trainers make me think it should make a comeback

5.0 out of 5 stars Criminally good fourth season from the guys at the FBI's New York White Collar Division, 8 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: White Collar - Season 4 (DVD)
White Collar Season 4 has never been shown on UK TV. Why? I haven't the foggiest idea. This show just get's better and better. The chemistry between the main characters Peter Burke (Tim De Kay) and Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) improves with age like one of Neal's fine wines and the ensemble cast, which includes the hilarious Willie Garsen as Neal's loveable but decidedly dodgy associate, support the main pair admirably.

Season 4 opens with Neal and Mozzie on the run in a beautiful Island paradise, with their stash of Nazi acquired treasures, after the FBI have conspired to not set Neal free from his tracking anklet. Burke seems content to let Neal go, to allow him to be free, until he discovers that the FBI have assigned a man to hunt him down and bring him back, dead or alive. Fearing it could be the former, Burke tries to follow the clues left to him by Neal and track his friend in an attempt to save his life. As it happens, the pair once reunited accidentally discover a way to get Neal back to his beloved New York, and working with Burke for the FBI White Collar Division again,

The main arc of this season surrounds Neal's need to discover more about his past, namely his father. Was he a murderer? A dirty cop? Or was he an innocent man, framed by other corrupt individuals in high places. The proceedural elements of the show remain but this main story arc plays out to a shocking conclusion in the last episode, which will leave you desperate for Season 5 (so make sure that's on order before Season 4 has been watched).

Extras include the unusually high level Gag Reel (these guys really had a lot of fun making this show), excellent commentary on the final episode with the director and all the main players and a short documentary on Tim De Kay's first efforts at directing an episode. Deleted scenes are included after the individual episodes. Fantastic entertainment all round.

Beauty And The Beast: The Third Season [DVD]
Beauty And The Beast: The Third Season [DVD]
Dvd ~ Kristin Kreuk

5.0 out of 5 stars More Beastly goings-on in New York City, 8 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
At last, the DVD of this, the third season of the CW's Beauty and the Beast has hit the doormat, and after watching the series on my PC, again on the Watch Channel and for the third time on my DVD player, the only disappointment is that there are only 13 episodes this time around.

Season three opens with Cat and Vincent now living a seemingly idyllic life together in New York, after the traumatic events of Season 2, when Vincent was being hunted both by the NYPD for murder and then by Cat's deranged ex-boyfriend, Gabe. Cat has been re-instated in her role of detective and Vincent has had his medical licence returned to him so he can begin, at last, to earn a living after living off the grid for more than 10 years.

He is happy with where they stand and, due to the lack of clouds on the horizon, has wedding bells on his mind. Cat meanwhile has been secretly meeting with agents from Homeland Security, who want to recruit both her and Vincent to help them deal with a new kind of threat. Someone has been experimenting on innocent New Yorkers, enabling them to do incredible things but also putting them and the general population at risk. Cat feels it's her and Vincent's responsibility to get to the bottom of the mystery and stop the experimentation. But that will put both their lives in danger, again, and threaten the normal future they have craved for so long.

This season focuses on the struggles of our beloved couple to take their relationship to the next level, in the midst of these new threats. The performances of Kristin Kreuk as Catherine Chandler and Jay Ryan as Dr. Vincent Keller are excellent as usual and they are well supported by the rest of the ensemble cast: Nina Lisandrello as Tess Vargas, Cat's former partner and now her boss and Austin Basis as Vincent's best friend J.T. Forbes. Cat's sister Heather, played by Nicole Gale Anderson, makes a welcome return and provides some much appreciated lighter moments in what can be a dark and brooding story. There are also some great guest stars this season with Natasha Henstridge and Alan Strang playing Bob and Carol, an enhanced super-couple who cause all manner of problems for our Vincat, and Jason Gedrick, playing the role of the terrifyingly calm, super-bad Liam.

Thankfully, there are no silly love triangles in this season and the chemistry between the two main actors remains strong. Even when they are arguing, they are still exceptionally cute together and the mutual respect they have for each other shines through. Enjoy the ride as Cat and Vincent negotiate, engagement, co-habitation and co-dependency on their journey to become Mr. & Mr. Keller. Do they finally tie the knot? You'll have to buy the DVD and find out for yourselves.

The extras on the DVD are pretty standard: Deleted Scenes, Gag Reel and Season Review documentary together with a look at the process of getting each episode started in the writer's room. The deleted scenes include an extended scene at the beginning of episode one where Cat gives Vincent advice for his first day at the hospital, telling him to 'play nice with the doctors but not too nice with the nurses'. I liked that one and there's a very funny scene in the car between Cat and Heather, where Cat rips her dress and smudges her make-up and asks her if she wants to be hit too. You'll have to see the scene to get the context but I wish both these scenes had not been cut from the final episodes.

All in all, essential viewing for any BATB fan and a series that once watched leaves you wanting more. Shame we only have one more season of this show to look forward to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Watch it! it's a crime not to., 5 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Caught this show by accident on Universal channel when I was channel surfing one afternoon. I was intrigued as it's star, Matt Bomer, had guest-starred on an episode of Glee that I'd seen and I wanted to see what he was like in a drama show, when it didn't involve singing and dancing. I was immediately taken with his performance as Neal Caffrey. His charm and allure was perfect for the Art fraud conman turned FBI consultant/CI. But despite the fact that he was a conman, the over-riding feeling was that this was essentially a good man who really cared for his friends and colleagues, including Peter Burke, the man who caught him and was now his FBI 'partner'. Together, they used Peter's skills of 'always getting his man' and Neal's knowledge of the art world and his particularly good lock and safe breaking skills to bring down the bad guys. Of course the partnerships leads Burke to loosen up and Caffrey to see things from the other side of the law, although he can never truly escape his criminal past, no matter how hard he tries to do the right thing.

This show has a great ensemble cast of characters that you really begin to care about, from Neal's criminal friend Mozzie to Burke, his wife Elizabeth and his close colleagues at the FBI, Diana and Clinton Jones. There is a sense of fun that pervades the entire six seasons and scenes of real pathos that allow the cast to show off their acting skills. Neal is at the centre of everything though and I can't express enough
what a good job Matt Bomer does. He not only looks the part, with his flashing blue eyes, perfect teeth and body, but he really makes you care what happens to him as he tries to earn his freedom from the FBI and remove the ankle monitor that he is forced to wear as a condition of his early prison release. His bromance with Peter is the core around which the show revolves and believe me, it is a journey worth going on with them both. Seasons 4-6 have never been shown on UK TV which is astounding to me when so many other shows, with a lot less invention, go on for 10 or more seasons. Originally, I bought season 4 and 5 separately to see the seasons I'd missed but eventually realised that this is a show that will stand repeated viewings, so I sent them back and invested in the Con-plete collection of seasons 1-6. I've watched the lot, including the fantastic gag-reels (best I've ever seen) and the finale does not disappoint either. Watch it! It's a crime not to.

This review is from: Child 44 [DVD] (DVD)
This film was an unexpected afternoon's viewing when I discovered it was free to watch with Amazon Prime, but in all fairness, having seen it, I'd now gladly buy the DVD as it would stand repeated viewings.

The story revolves around Leo Demidov, who we first see as a child, orphaned during the post first world war famine in Ukraine. Leo grows up to be a soldier in the Soviet Army, a war hero helping to rid the world of Nazi tyranny, only to find that the regime he now serves is no better. He is placed in a difficult position when the young son of his best friend is found dead by the Moscow train track. He knows it's murder but the Soviet Party line says it's a terrible accident. It can't be murder because there is no murder in paradise. He has the unfortunate job of persuading his friend's family to accept the accidental death verdict, which he does. But can he accept it himself?

When his wife, the fantastic Noomi Repace, is amongst others accused of being traitors, his somewhat comfortable life comes crashing down as he is forced to make a choice, Denounce her or be demoted and shipped out to the sticks. He is an honourable man and sticks by his wife, despite her lack of affection for him, as he believes he must protect her at all costs. However, his exile in Rostok highlights more cases of murdered children, along the railway line from Moscow to Rostok, as he discovers his friend's son was Child 44 on the killer's list of victims.

This is where the story truly begins as Leo can no longer ignore the killings. The search for the truth will put him, his wife and his friends, in danger as the regime hunts him in an effort to silence the rumours and remain in 'totalitarian' control.

The performance of Hardy is exemplary as usual as he not only hunts the killer, but tries to discover his own nature. Is he a hero or a monster?. Noomi Repace plays the wife who starts out fearing her husband due to his uniform, but who begins to see him for the man he is underneath it. There are some memorable and heart-wrenching scenes, the knife-fight on the train being the most gripping, I think, although the final confrontation in the muddy woods was fantastic too. I didn't notice the length of the film. Always a good sign for me as it shows how engrossed I was with the story and the characters. I wouldn't say there were any slow parts. The pace was just what it should be to allow the viewer to take in all the nuances of Hardy's and Repace's performances, together with the scene setting and political backdrop.

Stalinist Russia may not be a huge draw at the box-office but that's not surprising to audiences raised on superhero movies and alien apocalypses. Hopefully, in the future, this film will be appreciated for what it is - a powerful, well structured and well acted piece of cinema.

Bought this chair in August 2012 for my son's bedroom. Apart from now looking a little grotty due to his frequent midnight snacking and coming in from Scouts covered in mud, it was still holding up OK until he complained today that the seat will not now stay in position. It appears the gas pump is now not working. Three and a half years is pretty good for a chair, used every day and given such a hard time, (he used to rock on it constantly), so I feel fully confident buying another one.

When it arrived in 2012 it certainly looked the part and was easy for a 45 year old woman to assemble unaided. My son was smitten with it from the get go. Will report back in another few years and let you know how long this one lasts.

Lovely, quirky jumper and was much admired over the festive season. Wool is very soft but the jumper is also thick and warm. Can't wait until Christmas 2016 so I can wear it again. Bought the lazer cat jumper for my 18 year old son and his friends thought it was fantastic too. Can definately recommend these Tipsy Elves jumpers.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nicely made but too small to be really useful, 4 Sept. 2015

I bought this as a lunch box for my older son. Really is too small to be useful but I recently put it to work transporting my younger son's medicine to and from school. You can fit a wrap style sandwich and a snack size pack of biscuits or a yoghurt pouch maybe. A wrap or a very small juice box but this may be a bit of a squeeze.

Nice little snack pot to go inside the Jurassic world lunch bag. Big enough for some cut friut or veggies or can house a muffin or a cake to avoid it turning into a load of crumbs. Only problem was I bought it from an Amazon seller, only to find it in my local supermarket for one third of the price. Felt a bit robbed to tell you the truth. So, I can recommend pot but don't pay more than a £1 as that's how much I saw it for.
