5.0 out of 5 stars A good description and development of the characters and all are ..., 27 April 2015
I have never really gone into the reading of historical fiction especially during the the time line written about in this book. However it turned out to be an impressive read from the start. A good description and development of the characters and all are written in realistic terms and not grand heroic terms as many books do these days. In fact the book itself opens itself to several spin offs in the author so desires. A very good read

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 26 Dec. 2013

Knowing the author i felt i should at least attempt to read this book. What i got within just the first few pages was an honest account of life within hostile environments. For security he changed all names but still kept an accurate account of his time within Libya. Much has been said recently regarding this account but knowing this person his integrity and honesty is never in question he has fallen ill to protecting others reputations ahead of his own, so have no doubt that everything written is correct and truthful. A very good read

1.0 out of 5 stars Why Ray why, 22 Jan. 2013
This review is from: The Sweeney [DVD] (DVD)
As a fan of Ray Winstone i was looking forward to this, but the film was rubbish. You have this police unit who think they are the SAS (without the skills or drills).
The old one handed shooting (may aswell done it john woo style).
They did not need the whole love story bit and the 70s style policing in 21st century uk made the film even worse.
They missed a trick with this one, after the success of life on mars why not just do the film in late 70s. Would been whole lot better instead you have a film which cannot decide if its 70s or mod con 21st century.
Top tip STAY WELL AWAY AS ITS 2 HRS OF YOUR LIFE YOU NOT GET BACK.

One man's war.
One man's war.
by Michael Mason:
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read, 22 Aug. 2012
This review is from: One man's war. (Hardcover)
I picked this book up n an old book shop and what a read. I had heard of Michael Mason before , a former fur trapper, boxer and land owner in Oxford, he was one of Ian Flemings inspirations for 007 and this book does not disappoint. Telling of his life just before the war and into the war years. He does not in any way try to give it the big 'I AM' as you see in most miliatry biographies today. A very good read

1.0 out of 5 stars One of the worst films ever, 29 Jun. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I brought the above film on the back of the novel which rumour has is really good. I wasted over 1hr half on what was a very poor film. Phrases like ' I am different from rest of you' (because she killed enemy troops) sound stupid. The film just did not add up in any way and was in no way belivable. What surprised me the most was that the teenagers with no weapons training became skilled at sabatoge and weapon drills (the resistance during WW2 needed training from SF etc). One word to best describe the film JOKE

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Good, 23 Jan. 2012

This review is from: Far From Over (Kindle Edition)
This novel is actually very good and i have to admit similar in style to Ross Kemps Devil to pay. The main character is set out well and an intelligent move by the author to get away from the normal ex SAS, SBS main character. What i also liked is how the novel based itself in world of private security contracting but stepped away from the Iraq, Afghanistan mold and instead created a more international feel. The main lead back story (in ref to the MMA) was a nice touch and also leaves the option for sequels which can expand and not just stay within military/security side of life. Good effort

5.0 out of 5 stars Good read, 9 Mar. 2011
Notice a lot of digs at the writer of this book. Well i have never met him nor have i been asked to review it but i can say its a decent read and one that most who have served in ranks can relate to. because majority of stuff he writes about i have seen myself from others and even myself been involved in. I no of a lot worse behaviour that goes on from very good soldiers. A more honest account of military life than some efforts out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Action new martial art star to rival wesley & van damme, 10 Dec. 2009
This is a simple action packed movie. The fights are excellent and michael jai white proves he has the makings of action star for the 21st century. Definatly an actor who should been considered for sly stallones new movie the expendables.
The final fights at the end are well performed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Title, 6 Jun. 2009

This is a fantastic and informative piece on a part of world war two not always in the public eye. What is more it goes into detail on some fantastic men such as Michael Mason, Britains man in danube out to cause chaos for the Germans.A former Boxer and fur trapper many assume that Ian Fleming,a close friend, took many aspects from Michael Mason and put them into 007. A great read.
