2.0 out of 5 stars The 'Ultimate' version only available in 2D. Beware!!, 1 Aug. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The movie itself is good, in my opinion and it has decided opinion.

Those off you that purchased the Ultimate Edition in 3D will be sorely disappointed. Only the Theatrical Release is presented in 3D. The extended version is only available in 2D. It does not state this anywhere in the pre-release material and you only find out once you have opened the packaging. I feel ripped off.

Beware!!

5.0 out of 5 stars "..you've been targeted for termination.", 10 Oct. 2012
I can only echo what has been stated in numerous other reviews.

This blu-ray version of 'The Terminator' is incredibly sharp. The restoration work has been meticulous in it's execution and it has taken years off the film in terms of it's look. The crisp 5.1 soundtrack is also superb and for the bargain basement price of just £10 it instantly becomes a 'must have' blu ray title.

The extras are interesting, if a little lean but there is a very good cut scene that acts as a pre-cursor to T2 (and The Sarah Connor Chronicles).

What is pretty cool now is that you can watch 'Terminator Salvation' and then watch 'The Terminator' and the viewer can reasonably assume that the films were created in a much closer timeframe with 'The Terminator' almost being filmed in a retro style. It really is that good a restoration job and is a testament to how far ahead of it's time this film was.

Excellent!!

5.0 out of 5 stars WTF!! Oh, you got me!!, 12 Jan. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A great film. Not the best Blu-Ray transfer I've seen but crisp and a great soundtrack.

Also, it is now incredibly good value at £7.

The best bit for me? The studio purposely making me think there was a disc error when the menu loads up...you'll see what I mean.....WTF!! moment or what?

Clear and Present Danger
Clear and Present Danger
by Tom Clancy
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars A masterclass of pacing and multi-threaded storytelling, 3 Oct. 2011

IMO this is Clancy's best novel. The characterisation, depth and twisting of multiple plot-lines together is outstanding. Forget the very poor film adaptation and read (and then re-read) this novel. Superb!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Complex, but simply awesome!!!, 26 Nov. 2010
I've had this Casio for about a year now and yes, it can be complicated to try and understand and use the functions correctly but it is a technical tour-de-force.

The watch is stylish, a great size, innovative in function and design and exceptionally good value.

Here's a tip. Try and get the rubber band on the EQW-500 Edifice models and replace the stainless steel strap on this one with the rubber strap on that one. IMO it makes the piece even more attractive and comfortable to wear.

In response to 'Bozo' and his 2-star rating. Try re-setting the home city first, make sure the DST function is switched off and then try a manual radio update. This should sort out your problem.

A fantastic watch. Buy it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Poignant, relevant and important....even today., 20 May 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It is rare that a film inspires people to look at things in a different way. This is the central premise of this film and it is as relevant today as it has ever been.

A wonderful film that succeeds in lifting you up and pulling you down in equal measure.

Sit back, relax and enjoy it for what it is. A classic piece of film making and character acting.

First Man: The Life of Neil Armstrong
First Man: The Life of Neil Armstrong
by James Hansen
Edition: Hardcover

3.0 out of 5 stars Astonishing, 27 Jan. 2006
The anticipation of this book made it almost impossible for the book itself to completely satisfy and on many levels the author does seem to fall quite short of the mark.
What is obvious is that Neil Armstrong was, and still is, an intensely private man and also a very humble human being who fully understood and appreciated the enormous effort it took to place he and Buzz Aldrin on to the Moon and return them safely.
History will hopefully remember Neil for the exceptional individual he is and respect, finally, how he has dealt with the fame of being 'The First Man', with quiet dignity.
Maybe it's because of his nature that this book ultimately falls short on the human level. I don't feel as though I know Neil Armstrong any more now then before I read about his quite remarkable life. I still don't know who Neil Armstrong really is, what he actually felt as he planted that first step or how he felt when gazing back at us from the surface of the Moon.
If this to be the only chronicle of Neil's life then it is a tragedy.
