1.0 out of 5 stars Boring, save your money, 24 Oct. 2014
Boring book, im just angry with myself that I spent my hard earned money on this garbage and I'd advise others not to make the same mistake. A French born Chinese prostitute with webbed feet could've wrote a better book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dont waste your money.....or time!, 17 Feb. 2014
The storyline of this book could've been thought up by a 5 year old girl in a overheated, Hong Kong style, sweat shop. Terrible writing and use of grammar, an example being that the author spells the male name Gerry as "Jelly". Apart from the laughs I got from the misspelt words and terrible grammar, I found this book to be wasteful of my precious time. I give this book 1 star out of 5. Save your hard earned money and go buy from a proper author. I recommend Gerry Kelly's "The Escape", great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars a very interesting but shocking read, 5 Nov. 2013
A very interesting but shocking read. Author sets out clear and hard evidence of collusion between the security forces (RUC/UDR) and Unionist terrorist groups in the murders of over 100 innocent Catholics, all of whom were not connected in any way to the republican movement. The British Government turned a blind eye to all this. An essential read for anyone who's interested in the troubles and history of Northern Ireland.

PS: Many of those leaving negative reviews are quite obviously Unionists who are well known to have supported such collusion and murder on the Catholic community, their fake reviews are designed to stop people reading the book and not know the truth, hence even more reason to read this book!

Young Stalin
Young Stalin
by Simon Sebag Montefiore
Edition: Paperback
Price: £12.38

5.0 out of 5 stars The harsh, adventurous and bloody early life of the Greatest Dictator of the 20th Century, 8 Oct. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Young Stalin (Paperback)
This book sets out the early life of Joseph Stalin better than maybe any other book around. Born in the brutal clannish, gangster fuelled Georgian town of "Gori", one of the then Russian Empires most lawless places, Joseph Stalin even as a child was cunning, strong willed and very intelligent, excelling in his studies but also in other, activities such as choir singing and poetry. The Author starts from the very beginning, even before Stalin was born and gives a brief insight (brief due to lack of records that still exist) of Stalin's mother and fathers life just before they got married. The book goes on from there, right through Stalin's early childhood, him and his mother getting badly physically abused by his father (nicknamed in the village "Crazy Beso") right up to Stalin's numerous exiles in the frozen, deadly lands of Siberia and finishes off just after the October 1917 Revolution had succeeded in bringing Lenin to power and Stalin to the beginning of his job of attaining power in Russia. Of course there is COUNTLESS other facts about young Stalin's life in between what I have just mentioned, his gangster activities in the "Oil Kingdom" of Baku (modern day Azerbaijan), his countless mistresses, his bank robberies, the activities him and his cronies got involved in in order to fund the Bolshevik movement, Stalin's time in Vienna (at the same time the young Adolf Hitler was in Vienna as a poor, failed artist), his brief time in London, etc and much more. I highly recommend this book, brilliantly researched and really goes into depth about Stalin and is clearly backed up with evidence as noted by the author along the way. 5 stars.

Great movie and in my opinion better than the first Scream movie. Best acting performance, by far, is done by Neve Campbell. Scream 2 is my favourite Scream movie out of all 4 movies.

The Power of Gold: The History of an Obsession
The Power of Gold: The History of an Obsession
by Peter L. Bernstein
Edition: Paperback
Price: £12.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read, a history on the yellow glittering metal, 6 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Great book, the author explains in detail how this metal, Gold, has influenced humanity since the beginning, from Ancient Lydian's (the first people to use coins) to The Royal Mint in London under management of the genius Sir Isaac Newton to the dispute over the Gold Standard more recently. Its obviously not a FULL history of Gold because such a book would take a century to write and weight around a ton but it does give great insights into how Gold has lead many great men, women and indeed even Empires to their doom due to their obsession with Gold and its power and the image it gives to those who obtain and display it, an image that continues to provoke admiration and, of course, envy, even to this present day. This glittering, rare, yellow metal has driven tens of millions to their deaths due to slavery, wars, conflicts and battles in order for it to be obtained and there's more to it than meets the eye. Highly recommend this book, great read.

One Day In My Life

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read, highly recommended, Bobby Sands the Hero, 6 Sept. 2013
This review is from: One Day In My Life (Paperback)
Whatever your thoughts on the Irish Republican movement, one cannot fail to be moved by this book and the suffering, frustration and pain Bobby Sands went through for his people, his cause and his country: Ireland. Before reading this book and a few other books on the subject, I stood on neutral ground when it came to the politics in Northern Ireland but Im now swayed, after hearing from both sides in equal measure, to support the Irish Republican view and opinion. The Troubles in Ireland is merely a continuation of a struggle of the Irish people for freedom from British rule. The oppression and discrimination of the Irish people in Northern Ireland by deliberately planted "British Loyalists" (descendants of plantations from Britain/England/Scotland set there by England in the 1600s to rob Irish people of their land, rights and freedoms) would drive anyone to do what Bobby Sands had done, to rise up and defend their country and people from unrighteous oppressors. Bobby Sands is known the world over as a hero, a freedom fighter and a very brave person and rightly so.
