5.0 out of 5 stars uni son loves it, 1 Dec. 2011
I bought this for my son who has just started uni and has absolutly nothing for cooking in his shared house. He has found the measuring cup the most useful tool, followed by the blender for soup.
He says it's easy to clean, and he's keeping it in his room

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic, 17 Nov. 2009
Having just passed my test in sign and keen to teach youngsters, I found this book really helpful for animal signs.
It is a board book, so has resisted many little hands tugging on it for a look.
The pictures are easy to understand with animal and arrows indicating the movement.
5 stars The others in the series are just as good, even the nursery rhymes

5.0 out of 5 stars fun lively game for youngsters, 13 Aug. 2008
This review is from: Orchard Toys Scaredy Cat (Toy)
I had the very first edition of this game, but over the years and times it was played, I needed to buy a new version.
I teach English to young children and this game gives great opportunity to do so. The cry of "oh no! Scarecrow" or "meow" when the cats appear to scare away our birds makes it lively. I use this game for counting and for practicing, "I've got 1 bird/2 birds"etc or "He/She's got a cat/5 birds". There are no real losers, even getting a cat can be fun. (you can play the game without the cats.)
Any number of players and even those on the periphery can join in anytime. An easy to learn and fun to play game, in class, camping, rainy day.

3.0 out of 5 stars a bit disappointed, 2 July 2008
I am a huge fan of Derek Strange's Chatterbox series and have been using the books for years. The pictures in this New Chatterbox are not as good and the story not as interesting. This is also the vote from many of my students, who have also had a good look at both.
The CD is annoying as it makes a beep between each comic drawing and is distracting when we want to listen to the story all the way through.
If the teacher is aware, she/he will know when to pause the CD.
In the NEW CB1 the songs are good, but the numbers song is too difficult, a simple Let's count upto Ten would be much better.
I use this book a lot and I have found or created bits to fill the bits in between. I still recommend this book for teaching ages 7plus, but have a look at the old version too.

5.0 out of 5 stars one more chapter please, 4 Oct. 2001
I read this book straight through to my daughter 7 and my son 10.
It didn't take much to persuade me, as I was hooked too.
We all felt for Daisy in her dilemma for a sleep-over birthday party.
We booed at Chloe and cheered at the surprising end.
I'm off to buy more books by this fabulous author.
Buy it! We're sure you won't be disappointed.
