5.0 out of 5 stars A keeper, 20 Aug. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I had a Waterpik flosser years ago and hated it. It ended up in the bin. This one, however, is a keeper. It's similar in design to Panasonic's irrigator device, but with a few pluses over it.

For charging, you attach a magnetic charging attachment. It's easy to tell when it's fully charged - unlike the Panasonic irrigator, whose charging indicator just stays on all the time, never telling you when it's fully charged. The reservoir is bigger: 210ml versus the Panasonic's 130ml, so it lasts longer in use. And you can put mouthwash in the reservoir if you want. You can only use water in Panasonic's device. Lastly, there's a bigger range of tips. Three different types are included, but you can also get a toothbrush tip and a tongue cleaner tip.

The downside is this flosser is bulkier and even more awkward to hold and manoeuvre. If you've never used this type of flosser before, it takes a bit of getting used to. And there's no lithium battery, which would have been nice.

I like this Waterpik flosser. It's great for giving your mouth a good rinse out after meals, especially if you don't like ordinary floss.

ELEMIS Skin Buff - Deep Cleansing Exfoliator 50ml
ELEMIS Skin Buff - Deep Cleansing Exfoliator 50ml
Price: £25.51

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, 19 Aug. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Compared to Clinique's face scrub, this is much less coarse. The granules in it are very fine. It exfoliated my skin without being too harsh or drying, and washed off easily without leaving traces behind. Afterwards my skin looked and felt better than it does after several other brands of scrub. I would say it's quite gentle but still effective.

So far I'm loving it. It's pricey but worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Supports microSD cards only, 17 Aug. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I made the mistake of thinking this device worked with ordinary-sized SD cards as well. It doesn't. It's only for microSD cards, which is a bit of a strange design decision. Normally card readers work with both SD and microSD cards.

It has two interfaces: USB and type-C USB. The slot for the microSD card is just above the type-C connector, so isn't accessible while you have it plugged in to that interface. There's no LED. A lanyard is hidden inside the packaging, which you can use to secure the blue cap to the device, ensuring you don't lose it. The body of the thing is solid metal. Like another card reader I've got by the same brand, it gets quite warm just being plugged in without a card in it, when clearly it's not doing any work. This seems a bit odd to me.

The reader works fine, and I like the dual connectors, but I would have preferred it if it supported ordinary SD cards too.

Georg Jensen Wine Stainless Steel Wine Stopper and Wine Pourer, Set of 2
Georg Jensen Wine Stainless Steel Wine Stopper and Wine Pourer, Set of 2
Offered by Christopher Wharton Goldsmith
Price: £65.00

5.0 out of 5 stars For wine connoisseurs, 10 Aug. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Made of stainless steel and silicone/plastic, these two bar accessories come in a nice, sizeable presentation box. At this kind of price the set is really a "prestige" item: for wine connoisseurs, or a great gift for a wine connoisseur. Though no silver is involved, it has the name of Denmark's famous silversmith attached.

The stopper and pourer feel nice and solid. The pourer acts as an aerator. They should last for ages. Neither of them are dishwasher-safe.

bliss Triple Oxygen Energizing Cleansing Foam 148 ml
bliss Triple Oxygen Energizing Cleansing Foam 148 ml

4.0 out of 5 stars Blissful but pricey, 9 Aug. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I do like foaming cleansers, though often they're too drying for my skin. This one doesn't seem too bad. My skin doesn't feel ridiculously tight after using it. It's quite pleasant to use and does the job it's supposed to.

The problem is the price. Looking at the ingredients list, I can't see why it should be so expensive. It says it contains oxygen, but what does that mean? Even plain water contains oxygen. I guess you pay a premium because it's a spa treatment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent cleanliness aid, 8 Aug. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
If you're still flushing ordinary wet wipes down the toilet just stop it. They don't degrade quickly enough and can block drains. You should only flush flushable wipes like these.

The product description says these wipes have fragrance, but they don't. They're fragrance-free. I normally use the aloe vera variant, but these are just as good, though you only get 40 in a packet instead of 42 for some reason. Both these gentle ones and the aloe vera ones are much better than the ordinary variant in the blue wrapper, as they feel more natural.

The only downside about these wipes is that they don't always dispense from the wrapper very well. Often you have to pull out half a dozen just to get the one or two you want. I assume this is pretty much unavoidable though, due to their moistness. They're a quality, reasonably priced aid to personal cleanliness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extra runtime and shorter charge time, 24 July 2017
The main difference between this Extra model and the ordinary one is the runtime. Its battery runs for around 40 minutes rather than 20. This makes a huge difference. The battery needs to be removed and placed into its own charger in order to charge it, so you don't want to be doing this too often. Another thing to note is that the battery charging time is reduced with this model: down to 3 hours.

I'm surprised by how much this vacuum cleaner picks up. Its suction doesn't feel very strong, but with the aid of the rotating brush head it certainly picks stuff up. The handheld part fills up in no time. The feeling of freedom you get from being cordless is great, it pivots easily and I like the little LED "headlights" on the front.

I use mine as an upright most of the time, just to do quick, cordless cleaning jobs in between hoovering up with a corded vacuum cleaner. For this purpose it's fantastic, though I doubt I would use it as a main vacuum cleaner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oral-B base model excellence, 17 July 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
It's a nice electric toothbrush if you want something fairly basic, without a load of different modes, expensive accessories like charging cases, and modern features like Bluetooth connectivity. All you get is two modes, a charging base, a basic case and two brush heads.

It does have a Lithium-ion battery, which is more efficient and shortens charging times compared to traditional rechargeable batteries. Many of Oral-B's earlier models don't have this. A quick look at one of the fancy toothbrushes I've got with the aforementioned Bluetooth connectivity confirms this: its battery is the Ni-MH type.

If you're after a non-sonic toothbrush that'll do the job nicely, you can't go wrong with this one. Oral-B misses a trick by not including some of its own (excellent) toothpaste in the box. Get the Pro Expert variant. It costs more but contains stannous fluoride, which is much better for your teeth than ordinary fluoride alone.

Fellowes Powershred 60Cs Cross-Cut Personal Shredder with Safesense Technology
Fellowes Powershred 60Cs Cross-Cut Personal Shredder with Safesense Technology
Price: £59.00

5.0 out of 5 stars Big paper chewer, 8 July 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This shredder is bigger than I thought it would be. The good thing is its bin holds a lot of shredded paper. Like all cross-cut shredders, it needs lubricating oil applied to its cutters, which Fellowes recommends should be done every time you empty the bin.

The "SafeSense" feature stops the machine working whenever you touch the silver paper slot on the top. I'm not altogether sold on this. The slot's so narrow there's no way you could fit your fingers in there anyway. Sometimes the feature's more hindrance than help.

Even so, I like this shredder. It chews through paper without any problems and its bin holds plenty before it needs emptying.

Philips HR1852/71 Viva Collection Juicer, 2 Litre, 800 W, Black
Philips HR1852/71 Viva Collection Juicer, 2 Litre, 800 W, Black
Price: £110.00

5.0 out of 5 stars Viva juice, 8 July 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The box this device comes in is big, but that's mainly because it's tall; its footprint is relatively small compared to some juicers. It can stay on the countertop all the time, and the colour is perfect for my kitchen. Build-wise, it feels nice and sturdy and well-made, and the collection jug is a cut above what you often get with a juicer.

The device's feeding tube is wide enough to accept whole fruits as long as they're not very large, and the noise it makes during operation isn't as cacophonous as other juicers I've used. Afterwards you can clean the sieve with just running water and a kitchen sponge. The only thing I dislike is the user manual. It's the entirely pictorial type, which seems to be all the rage now. It might save Philips time and trouble when it comes to translations, but it's not great for the end user.

Despite the subpar manual, it's an excellent juicer if you're after something well-made, good-looking and compact enough to stay on the counter, and simple to use.
