1.0 out of 5 stars "PEGASUS" Strikes Again!!!, 6 Feb. 2013
This review is from: The Best Of (Audio CD)
I can only assume that the 'reviewers' that have given this more than 1-Star haven't heard the luscious vocals of Ms. Candi Staton before???
Personally, I wouldn't have thought that Candi would've needed the money to go to this awful, awful label to re-record her once-fantastic hits?

For anyone that doesn't know by now - AVOID THIS LABEL [ALONG WITH 'PRISM' or 'BESTWAY' - the latter mainly Northern 're-records' Soul - labels!!!] LIKE THE PLAGUE as you'll feel like tearing your hair out when you hear the sound, noise, racket contained within!
What you WILL NOT hear is what you thought to be the "ORIGINAL RECORDINGS"...& the worst thing???...they dont even have the decency to let you know the tracks are "re-records"!!!
All of the songs on this CD-album are, originally anyway, excellent songs & really DO NOT deserve the horrible, nasty "re-recording" experience.
DON'T BUY: 'PEGASUS', 'PRISM' Or 'BESTWAY' you WILL be disappointed folks!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars PEGASUS RE-RECORDED RUBBISH!!!, 26 Oct. 2012
This review is from: Sweet Dreams (Audio CD)
Not a slant on the beautiful Sandy Posey but any "fan" [which the previous 'reviewers' cannot be else they'd have pointed it out conclusively..] that wants a cheap CD of what they believe to be Sandy's original hits will not find it here,
This label is well known for it's re-recording - & ruining - of original recordings to make a quick buck. And also for not pointing this out on most occasions. All it does here, & everywhere else bar a couple I can think of out of 100s - is ruin your memories!!!
A warning: Avoid like the plague & look elsewhere for the good stuff guys...

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC...but can anyone help?, 23 Nov. 2011
I'm going against my own rules here as this isn't a review as such - but at least I've not downmarked it like most do if abusing the review facility!
Firstly, this is a brilliant & very emotional concert that i also taped & will never forget the actual day as long as i live!
Secondly, & straight to the point - I no longer have the last tape - it cuts off somewhere thru' 'Simple Minds' excellent set. Reading 'Trueblues' review & the time of this tape, it seems a lot has been taken off not just DS's set.
I know there are a lot of repeats & talking/interviews but does anyone out there know what else has been culled - in short? Is the Simps'/UB40/Eurythmics etc.. in full & Whitney, I cant quite remember, but i think, the surprise act - Stevie Wonder - only sang 1 before getting dragged off stage by his bouncer - can anyone help please?
Cheers Andy

This review is from: Ska Box (Audio CD)
Just looking at the other 1-star review for this & straight-away I knew what label the item was on! The message is simple folks, if you want the "real deal" - DONT BUY 'PEGASUS!' The label is pure garbage!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Lacking "That" Magical Song........., 4 Jun. 2011
This will probably be the shortest review I've ever wrote. The pedantics will moan, however I think the "fans" will understand? Quite simply there may be some rarities here? But the lack of 1 of the greatest Working-Class Anthems ever made in the superb "Sixteen Tons" leaves this 2010 release just lacking the magic needed for any & every "Best Of..." by this artist. If ever a song DOES NOT tie a artist down - it's "that" magical song from this excellent artist!

1.0 out of 5 stars Ooooh You Are Awful.......But I Like You [or Slap & Tickle!], 27 May 2011
This review is from: Awaydays [DVD] (DVD)
I thought I'd seen every single badly acted, badly worked out film/drama based around supposed football hooliganism that there was - then I saw 'Awaydays'. This really is the pits of acting & script doubly as diabolical as each other. However - there is a saving grace folks! If you are old enough to remember Dick Emery's style of slapstick comedy, especially that mentioned in the title in this review...then this may be for you? Oh the film itself? Do I have to? Really? Well this lad gets involved with a footy-hooligan gang [hahaha-sorry, I'll be serious now], & gets in with one of the top-lads [yawn-sound familiar?], but it seems the 'top lad' wants to get into him? or so we're led to believe? Or maybe not? [I was yawning that much!]. Anyway, there's a good scene in it - oh yes there is! It's one where Corro's' lesbian friend of Sophie Webster, y'know the blonde girl, I said the blonde girl [Oh someone's said Fred Elliott's not in it no more?]. Well she appears in a love- scene towards the end. What? No, thats it - thats the "good scene" I mentioned - no more! & you'll have to fast-forward a long way to get to that too! Enjoy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Take The Picture OFF & Sort It Out [Marketplace] Sellers!, 20 May 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Original Mod Classics (Audio CD)
Firstly, this is supposed to be a 'review' & many people are quick to point this out when buyers air their dirty linen on the 'review' part. However, I cant think of anywhere else to warn/point out to buyers that THIS IS NOT THE DOUBLE-CD IN THE PICTURE! Someone has pointed out that it's not called 'Mod & Proud'...so why not go the whole hog & say exactly what it is? It isnt the 'ORIGINAL MOD CLASSICS - The In Crowd' 2CD as in this picture! [If any marketplace seller IS selling this then put it in the correct album-category with sub-title - 'The In-Crowd']. What they are selling in the main is 'ORIGINAL MOD CLASSICS' single CD-18 Track from Crimson from 2005.
It is actually a fine album of 'original' recordings, however I'm quite sure that most Mods will have just about every single track on here - & you can also check it out under it's own title too. Tk 1 is Marvin with 'Can I Get A Witness' up to Tk 18 Benny Spellman & 'Fortune Teller' if you want it - go check it out rather than pay the price 'some' are asking for it here? Anyone buying just check what you are getting anyway guys. [The 2CDer - sub-titled: In Crowd - is a far classier compilation of 'original recordings' than the 18-track with 36 tracks of well-know AND some not-so-well-known beat, reggae/ska, blues, soul & a couple of mainstream tracks..& if you can get it as cheap as some of these are selling it for - GO FOR IT!]
To the pedantics, which I've been guilty of myself at times, sorry for using 'The Review' for this - just trying to help other buyers get the correct product! "Keep The Faith".

1.0 out of 5 stars ...Yet Another 'Pegasus' Lie [...mind there's a sticker here!], 1 Mar. 2011
Anyone who sees the comment I left for the only other review left for this might wonder why I'm leaving this. Well, I do it a lot to let people/buyers know how bad this label is! If you want ORIGINAL recordings - DONT BUY PEGASUS!!!
NB: Having said that, I have to take the "lie" back on this one - as there is a sticker advertising The Neville Staples Band on here. D'Ya think they're listening? With the looks of they're other releases - Nah!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars BEWARE THE DREADED 'PEGASUS' LABEL.., 25 Feb. 2011
This review is from: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I've tried to write this on other 'Pegasus' listings. You'll NEVER get the original recordings with this label! It's like the 'Bestway' label in the hands of Ian Levine [Northern Soul] - complete rubbish! Dont buy Pagasus!!!
