5.0 out of 5 stars How can you live without this DVD?, 4 Nov. 2004
To the untrained eye this looks like another Channel 4 series that the mainstream ignore and those in the know devour with relish. However dig deep into this wonderful world of film geeks, graphic artists, conceptual painters and gun toing best mates and you will uncover a gem that will delight for eons to come.
The characters are wonderfully real and throughout the pop culture drenched episodes you realise that you too would love to have mates like Tim & Daisy (luckily I do).
The DVD is so well presented that anyone with a love of surreal comedy, Star Wars, cinema, music (in fact all things geek) will never tire of watching it. I have spent the last week with it on constant loop and I still find gems in every scene.
Buy this DVD if you ever sat in a cinema in 1977 watching a Star Destroyer chase a rebel space ship and wondered what life was like before you witnessed that moment!!!
All time classic!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the true greats..., 7 Sept. 2004

...Shannon Hoon was a true talent who lived beyond his limits and paid the price.
I first heard this album 11 years ago on my return from a year travelling. My brother had bought it and found a band of such wonderous sounds that he couldn't stop raving about them and the vocal talents of one Shannon Hoon. After hearing the band for the first time (and this sounds so corny - but it is so true) I was a fan. The guy can SING! the band work as one and the heartbreaking vocals and sweet sweet harmonies are just a joy to behold.
I would hold this album up against the exquisite Either/Or by Elliott Smith as a true album to make the blues go away and to sip whiskey to with your loved ones as the sun sets in the west!
Just tell me that Change is not the most moving song you've heard. It's heartbreaking.
R I P - Blind Melon, I only wish you'd stayed around long enough to allwo me to see you live.

5.0 out of 5 stars How can this not be the best album of 2003 & maybe 2004, 4 Feb. 2004
This review is from: Youth & Young Manhood (Audio CD)
From the best opening track on any album I have heard right through to the melachony of the "hidden" last track this album just shines!
The whole album feels like a honky tonk, dirty, beer soaked affair written & recorded inbetween major Jack Daniels and Marlboro marathons...and in my opinion makes it a timeless classic.
It never bends towards the musical trends of today but just lays down it's original sound and runs with it to the final note.
A stunning debut & one to play to your kids when their old enough to join you on the porch to sip a bourbon & watch the the sunset.

What can you say. If you know Blind Melon the band, then you will love Blind Melon the band. Shannon Hoon was the enigmatic, charasmatic leader of the band who fell off the poolside one day and never got up again. His death, and the legacy of untapped talent he left behind is what makes this album so special to fans of his music.
This collection of unreleased material contains some real gems including a song recorded on the telephone answering machine.
Shannon voice will take you to many places and certainly bring a lump to the throat knowing he has passed on.
Buy this and listen to a liver of life who gave his all in pursuit of his own happiness.

4.0 out of 5 stars Johnny Wierd, 29 Sept. 2003
This review is from: Johnny Suede [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This films doesn't go anywhere far, stars Brad Pitt, Nick Cave & Sam L Jackson and is as quirky as anything David Lynch would want to film. Thing is it does seem to have it's heart in the right place and it good to see Hollywood Superstars going "indie" in such a good way. Word is that Brad Pitt was such a prima donna that the director based his main character from Living in Obilivion on him - but that might be Hollywood myth.
I wouldn't rate this highly on any level other than it's a wierd, quirky little number that should seen - hence the 4 star rating!
