5.0 out of 5 stars Complete Cover, 13 Aug. 2008
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I had previously used AVG version 6 and 7 which as a single user you can get for a year free of charge from the avg website.

The full version 8 product gives much more protection and help in servicing all aspects of security from firewall, spam, filters, through to virus protection and scanning.

As good as norton but at a cheaper price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Exciting Novel and Excellent Character for Futher Novels, 13 Aug. 2008
This review is from: The Mark: 1 (MIRA) (Paperback)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A bit different in that its a thriller where the main character is not a policeman or detective. In fact Henry Parker has just started his new job as a journalist. He goes to interview an ex prisoner and his wife about life after serving his sentence. What happens when he meets with them shapes the rest of the novel.

Its exciting, very readable and in Henry Parker the author Jason Pinter has created a very interesting character were I see additional books developing.

A great summer holiday read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly enjoyable read, 17 May 2008
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
A really excellent book that I very much enjoyed. A very violent killer is on the loose in New York and the NYPD bring in an out of town policeman to help with the case. Unbeknown to them the detective is the brother of man they are after.
The characters are developed extremely well from Ryder the main out of town policeman and the NYPD colleagues he works with through to Jeremy the psychopathic brother
Indeed the development of the killer reminded me very much of James Patterson books.
The novel goes along at an excellent pace and keeps you wanting more at every turn. Twists and turns keep you hooked and the ending does not disappoint.
Thoroughly enjoyable read Mr Kerley can be up there with the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars is not enough to describe this book and this series, 21 April 2008
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is the 4th and final book in the series about young Joel Gustafson. It is an absolutely charming, witty, heart rending series that I would advise anyone of any age to read.

In this final book Joel is fifteen and has come to the end of his school years. Will he live his dream of him and his father Samuel leaving Northern Sweden for a life on a ship travelling on a Journey to the end of the world or will the letter telling him where his mum is now living change this. She left him when he was a baby and has never been in touch.

I cant tell you enough how much I enjoyed this series and this book. 5 stars is not enough. It absolutely moved me to tears, first book ever to do this.

Henning Mankell is a craftsman writer and this short series is his writing at the pinnacle of his skills.

For reader information the previous books in the series are as follows:-
First:- A bridge to the stars
Second:- Shadows in the twilight
Third:- When the snow fell
Fourth:- The Journey to the end of the world

Read and enjoy them, I promise you will not be dissapointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Effective Retention Programme, 21 April 2008
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I started to use minds maps last year after studying some of Tony Buzans books on mind maps. I find them very effective at putting thoughts to paper and as a quick memory aide. So I was quite interested in how this technique could be used to aid learning french.

I have to say that I was pleasently surprised at how effective this technique helps you to retain words and phrases.

Tonys belief is that your brain works by connection and that mind mapping connects word and phrases easily together.

My own experience is that peoples brains work in different ways, some people think in pictures, some in numbers, some with words. So I think this technique will work well for some and probably no difference for others.

3.0 out of 5 stars An exceptional voice - a mixed bag of songs, 21 April 2008
This review is from: The Story (Audio CD)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I found this album a very mixed bag. One very big positive is that Brandi Carlile has an absolutely amazing voice, very special indeed.

One very big negative is that the songs do not do her voice justice. Im not sure if she is a rock or country singer, a ballad singer or rocker.

I really liked the opening track Late Morning Lullaby, however the remaining songs never quite made the best of her exceptional voice.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like Sade you will love this, 21 April 2008
This review is from: African Girl (Audio CD)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Wow I loved this album. This album drips sex. A very seductive voice singing beautifully written ballads.

I was reminded very much of Sade at her very best. Extremely good percussion, mingled with laid back acoustic/flamenco guitars and an extremly hypnotic voice.

I think they have found a new star. Highlights of the album for me were the title african girl, mr so and so and fool for you.

But the whole album has the same theme. Love songs sung so seductively.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not original, 21 Mar. 2008
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a very good childrens book, but certainly not original.

Very much like the Darren Shan Demonata series of books where a young boy has mystical skills that he did not know that he had. And very much like Harry Potter where the skills are honed at a boarding school.

Still it was exciting and a bit of a page turner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating, extremely interesting though sometimes strange, 21 Mar. 2008
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is an exceptionally interesting and sometimes strange book. It explains many things about how shops/stores market to us. How they use decoy offers to push it to buy the one they want us to purchase. It also looks at the fascinating "free" offers that litter our stores and how our minds pick up on them.
It also looks at how and why people procasternate. One of the strange research experiments carried out was to see how peoples decisions were affected while in a state of arousal.
The end result is a fascinating read that engages you to turn the next page. Excellent stuff

4.0 out of 5 stars An Inspiring Figure, 5 Mar. 2008
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Long Walk To Freedom (Audio CD)
This is an excellent audio CD. Read by Danny Glover its tells the story of Nelson Mandella in Nelson's own words.

Starting from the very humble beginnings its tells of Nelsons journey from his tribal start through his joining the ANC, his reasoning into why he started a small army set upon sabotage, his arrest, trial and release.

What comes to front of your mind is Nelsons unbelievable belief in what he is doing. He has a vision in mind for how he wants South Africa to be and nothing can shake this. All of his actions are taken in alignment with this belief. As he has, he is willing to give his life for his people and he is willing also to die for his people.

The story has many fascinating inside some personal such as his family life and marriages, and some quite deep insight into how a man becomes a leader.

The only downside to this audio CD for me , was the sometimes monotonous and uninspiring voice of Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon) a strange choice for such an inspiring speaker, and the difficulties I particular had with the pronunciation of South African names and places.
