5.0 out of 5 stars Soul in a bowl!!!, 18 Feb. 2013
This review is from: Last To Speak (MP3 Download)
I first heard Allen at the "live at the Borgata" recording for Daryl Halls "Live at Daryl's house" sessions. What a sensational voice! Laid back and soulful. This guy has loads of enthusiasm and if he isn't already as you read this, he is going to be a superstar.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very unique songwriter and performer, 23 Feb. 2010
This review is from: Eye To The Telescope (Audio CD)
I heard about KT years ago when she first broke. Only recently though have I actually "discovered" her. I saw a youtube video of her performing "Black horse and the Cherry tree" on Jools Holland (which is actually her big break apparently), and thought it was absolutely awesome. I've seen her music classed as Jazz, Blues, Pop, Rock even Folk.. It has all these elements which I think is why she is so unique and hard to classify. With very strong vocals, innovative lyrics and some nice acoustic guitar work she is a breath of fresh air. It's hard to compare her to anyone else so the only option is to listen to the previews, watch some youtube and then you'll want to buy the album. Incidently, I think the "Lesbian" thing (she isn't), might have been created by the lyrics to the song "Heal Over". Have a listen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beware pre-vista OS owners, 23 Feb. 2010
This is an excellent drive. Fast and quiet BUT...

If you want to install XP onto it, you need to either change your BIOS settings to accomodate RAID drives or load third party RAID drivers when you run the XP installation. XP does not support this drive as standard. It is possible to make it work, but it is a hassle especially if your computer does not have a floppy drive (like mine- A Toshiba U300). If you just want Plug 'n' play, and you want to install XP, then you should look for another drive. I ended up reinstalling Vista which I really didn't want to do.

4.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't sit flat on Toshiba laptop., 23 Feb. 2010
A great idea to add bluetooth functionality to a laptop that doesn't have it as standard. I bought this one in particular because I thought it would sit almost flat to the laptop case. It doesn't. Mine protrudes because the space in the USB socket doesn't extend far enough into the computer to allow this to fully push in. The laptop I have is a toshiba U300. This is worth checking if you want the device to sit fully into the socket. As it is, it protrudes about 5mm. A lot less then other devices, but still enough to get caught on something. The device itself works a treat though and comes with all the drivers you need on a small CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sci Fi at it's absolute best!, 9 Feb. 2010
The original BSG was groundbreaking in it's day but attempts since at re-invigorating the "Battlestar Galactica" story have failed miserably....Until now! This mini-series begins the "re-imagined" series and WOW, what a series that turns out to be. This 3 DVD set introduces a completely new version of BSG to a an audience that probably doesn't remember the original but even if you do, don't think you are just getting a remake. Some of the characters have changed (Starbuck is now a tomboy female, although the original Starbuck actor becomes a pivitol part in later seasons). This series show a civilisation that is human but (possibly) not from Earth. Mystery surrounds the date these events happen. Distant future or past? Some of the language is different ("Dradus" instead of "Radar", "Frak" instead of "F**k"). But the twists and turns of the plot are familiar and will appeal to a great variety of audiences. The interplay, collusion, corruption between the Military and Political groups based on several space ships which house the survivors of an attack on the "twelve Colonies". We see the isolation being cast into space brings and struggle to find enough resources in space to survive (water, Fuel, food). The war between Human civilisation and the Machines they created called Cylons(affectionately called "toasters" by the Humans), which have evolved to be almost human themselves. The conflict started because of Human oppression of the machines against which they rebelled. Many of the characters have to make difficult decisions which we can empathise with. The mysterious Dr Baltar. Freind? Fo? Traitor? Saviour?

The camera work uses a lot of handheld techniques which makes you feel like you are there watching the action unfold. The CGI is seemless and all adds to the plot and makes you believe. My advice? Buy this 3 cd set. You will know if you like the whole series because it only gets better and better (I have all of them now and looking forward to the spin off "Caprica").

5.0 out of 5 stars I never thought you could make so much of a plane crash!, 5 Feb. 2010
This review is from: Lost - Season 2 [DVD] [2005] (DVD)
I came to "Lost" late. It never appealed to me but I was forced to watch it because someone bought me the first season for Christmas. Well, Christmas was only a few weeks ago and I've been so hooked, I've bought Season 2 and 3 and just finished season 2. If you are a serious Sci Fi fan, love mystery, action and adventure and also some tender moments, this series is for you. The plot centres around the survivors of a plane crash marooned on a mysterious tropical island. Each episode stands alone but underneath, a theme starts to emerge. The characters are masterfully introduced through flashbacks showing how they came to be on Oceanic Flight 815. Each Character is a "mini plot twist" in their own right. What I really like about this series is the fact that they do not seem to take you down blind alleys and the cliff hangers are nicely resolved to something that is understandable yet exciting and intriguing

4.0 out of 5 stars Loads of rainy day fun but limited volume., 5 Feb. 2010
I bought this as a christmas present for my Daughter who has special needs. The large (quite heavy) bowl goes in the freezer and is ready to use in 24 hours. It works a bit like those freezer blocks you may have for your cooler bag. Once cooled, bring it out of the freezer, clip on the top which houses the motor and stirring paddle. Switch on and chuck in the ingredients. After about 10 minutes, the contents start to freeze and voila! We've succesfully made excellent sorbets and yoghurt ice to. All very delicious. Getting all of the frozen contents out is a little hard and you MUST not use a metal spoon or knife to scrape the sides as the inside of the bowl scratches very easily. I reckon each batch is about enough to serve between 4 and 6 people. Can't beat it for the price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Little dissapointed, 5 Feb. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I've bought a couple of Jason Mraz Albums and thought it might be good to see him in concert. To be honest, I didn't recognise many of the songs and the production was a little sloppy. There are interspersed clips of Jason "Backstage - on tour" which provide nice insights but all in all I came away with the impression it was all under sufference on Jasons part, like he didn't really want to do any of it. A much better and more down to Earth session is the EBS Space Korea set in which he is more relaxed. It also features the songs of the albums so you can sing along. If you want a complete collection of Jason Mraz, and it's cheap, buy it, But don't expect what you get with his superb Albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars All the Shania hits you'll ever need., 5 Feb. 2010
Sheet music for 14 popular Shania Twain hits, with Chord boxes. If I had a criticism it would be that the format could have been more compact so you didn't have to turn the page so often. However, a very many of the songbooks you can buy suffer from this problem. Would have been nice to have a little Shania trivia too but this is just the sheet music and nothing else.
