Pure Evoke C-F6 Stereo DAB/FM Internet Radio with CD and Bluetooth - Walnut
Pure Evoke C-F6 Stereo DAB/FM Internet Radio with CD and Bluetooth - Walnut
Price: £299.95

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect., 15 Aug. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The radio and CD are very easy to set up and operate. I bought this to replace my ageing Roberts DAB/CD radio which had no button presets. Scrolling through presets becomes a bit of a chore when button presets can make the task so much easier. The Evoke F6 has three button presets, though at least five buttons would be preferred. My only niggle with system is with the CD operation. There is no "resume" function. You can pause a CD and then start it again from where it left off, but you can't pause the CD and then change to DAB radio (or some other source), or turn the radio to standby for a while and then go back to where the CD left off. The CD always starts from the beginning again. As I listen to a lot of audiobooks this is a bit of a pain. However the audio quality is excellent.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well illustrated book spoilt by printing problems., 17 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Yet another "Manufactured in China" art book I have had to send back because of printing errors. The book is very well illustrated and the diagrams certainly help with the three dimensional representation of flowers and leaves. I do have one disagreement with the author in that in the "Loading the Brush" section, it is recommended that paint is loaded right up to the ferrule. In my experience this is a recipe for damage to the brush. Sooner or later paint will soak up into the ferrule, eventually dry there, and cause the brush hairs to part, thus loosing the chisel end to the flat and the point to the round. I never now let paint get that far up the hairs. I sent the book back because the step numbers in the text which refer to the corresponding illustration numbers were either missing or partially illegible in my copy. It was difficult to relate the text description to the corresponding illustration in many cases, I certainly couldn't give my copy as a gift.

4.0 out of 5 stars Top quality shoe but would have prefered conventional laces., 14 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very well made hiking shoe, the fit is perfect, they are comfortable and they look smart. These are built to last. My one complaint is with the quicklace system. The lace is a thin black nylon cord with both free ends fastened at the toe end making a continuous loop. The lace passes up the shoe through four sets of lace guides to the top where it passes through a small plastic friction clamp and out by about 8 cms where the nylon loop returns through the friction clamp. To tighten the lace you simply pull on the loop and push the friction clamp down towards the shoe and the lace is held firm. To loosen you pull lightly on the clamp which rises up the loop and the lace is loosened. Like one of the other reviewers I have a high instep and there is not quite enough free lace for the shoe to be loose enough for my foot to slide in easily. I need a shoe horn. The quicklace system certainly works, but for me, conventional laces would have been better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book spoiled by a printing error., 9 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a well written and useful book with some very good painting and preparation tips and clear step by step instructions. My complaint is that, in my copy at least, page 35 is a duplicate of page 34 (except for the footer). The real page 35 has been left out completely. I returned the book for a replacement but the replacement copy has the same problem. This is a print run issue and probably affects many more books. If you buy this book, check pages 34 and 35. Given the high price the book should be perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good value Air Compressor, 23 Oct. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I find this compressor an infinite improvement on my previous CSMA offering. It is quick, and easy to set the required air pressure. It is well built and the supplied padded case protects the plastic controls from damage while in the car boot. It reads about 1psi high which is no problem. Unlike some other reviewers I havn't found any problem in connecting or disconnecting the valve connector. I find it easy to disconnect without losing more than a whiff of pressure. Draws about 10 amps which should be no problem for a well charged car battery. Well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent instructional manual., 10 Sept. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I am relatively new to photo editing software, but as Lightroom 6 has such good reviews, I thought I would buy an instructional manual first, just to see what it is all about. This is an excellent book, expensive but well written, clear, and very well organised, certainly superior to some other photographic manuals that I have read. The problem I find is the amount of information in the book. A bit like trying to learn to fly the space shuttle from reading the owner's manual, do I really need something this elaborate and will I wind up in the drink if I take off. I will persevere and complete the book and then come to a decision about Lightroom, but about the book, I can't fault it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good value jacket, 8 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a very good value jacket, it is smart, lightweight and reaches to about mid thigh level, made of a denim-like material. The zip at jacket top left is just for show, there is no pocket, but there is a useful inside pocket on the left and two slanting side pockets. The garment care instructions come in six languages but unfortunately not English . I would not want to risk any shrinkage by machine washing so will probably dry clean, unless I can find someone to translate the care instructions. I am normally UK medium (chest 40"), but took the advice of other reviewers and ordered Asian XXXL and it fits perfectly with room for a lightweight pullover underneath if necessary. Well worth the money. (Are Asian men really that thin?)

2.0 out of 5 stars Excellent special effects, pity about the script and plot., 26 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For superb special effects and photography, this film is stunning. Unfortunately it is badly let down by a banal script and very poor plot, and I did get the feeling that George Clooney's heart just was not in the making of this film. Even when he had to say "good-bye" in space to Sandra Bullock he might have been saying good-bye to his next door neighbour after giving him some tips on how to repair his garden fence. The script just did not match what might be expected from two highly trained astronauts. A savvy twelve year old could have written it and probably done a better job. With some imagination the plot could have been made much more engaging. For me, good sci-fi has to have action and script that at least seem plausible, possible and appropriate in the particular setting. There are just too many one in a billion chances here. Sandra Bullock spends some time in the latter part of the film propelling herself around the outside of a Chinese space station with a hand held CO2 fire extinguisher and in a Russian space suit without any observable oxygen supply. In the midst of all the destruction the Chinese re-entry module (which she somehow manages to operate) survives and delivers her to earth into some shallow water and about five minutes swim from shore. I found Apollo 13 and Alien much more engaging.

As a platform for showing off special effects technology, this film is the one. But if you like getting absorbed and involved in a film, then this is not the one to watch. I felt disappointed after all the hype.
