5.0 out of 5 stars Replete - more like repeat repeat repeat, 24 July 2012
This review is from: Replete (MP3 Download)
A wonderful album...Chailo Sim have the same swagger as the late criminally ignored Manchester band "Alfie"...vocals reminiscent of Lee from the said band...Replete is finally filling the void left behind but in their own way and a good way it is...keep up the good work. I urge you all to buy it...makes my morning commute a whole lot easier.

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful frenzy, 1 Nov. 2010
This review is from: Before Today (Audio CD)
what a frenzy this album is...the opening saxophone reminiscent of UB4O when they were actually good....zappa mixed with EARLY prince...mashed up with Hall and oats...joy division "REVOLUTIONS A LIE" ....one of the best basslines you will ever hear on the track "Bright Lit Blue Skies"....instrumentals, taken from the Film Beat Street that actually never made the Beat Street Soundtrack....Velvet underground Tranny inspired lyrics...jungle chants....L'estat even sounds like the underated Manchester band ALFIE.....Is it a cover album...You think you have heard it before.... but you havent . Im in love.

5.0 out of 5 stars if only it were the 80's this album would be huge, 14 Sept. 2010
This review is from: 20ten (Audio CD)
yes we have all heard Sign o the times and Purple Rain the classic 80's Prince we all love and adore-...but you know what Prince will never make an exceptional album like those again. We need to get over it and just enjoy what he brings to the table right now. You are asking the impossible...its almost like yourself asking to lose your virginity again...it just aint going to happen...you just have to enjoy the experiences that follow. I am a Prince fan from a young age so i know what im talking about...this album is certainly a lot better than Graffiti Bridge and the dross that was the Diamond and Pearls album. Have you actually given this album a chance? Over the last 3 albums he certainly has got back on form ..Planet Earth had its moments - MPL Sound and Lotus Flower was 75% complete and this new album is dead on it...tracks Like "Lavaux" and "Beginning Endlessly" are fine fine tunes and the "Sea of Everything" is everything that Prince offers in a ballad just as good as Adore from Sign o the times...a bold statement i know...and you know what i love about this album the most is that my 3 year old daughter is now a Prince fan because of the upbeat bubblegum pop that is "Everybody Loves me".....go on give it another try at least 3 listens will suffice

5.0 out of 5 stars Funkadelic for the naughties, 21 Aug. 2009
This review is from: Fits (Audio CD)
Who says second albums are tricky - this album is better than the first and Workout holiday was a pretty fine album. If you have ever heard Standing on the Verge of Getting it on .by Funkadelic..then you will know the madness this album has in abundance ..the Chilipeppers aint got sh+t on this mob...this fries your brain. Mirrored and Revered has one of the best grooves i have ever heard in my middle aged life...go check em out live - they will rip your face off. There's not enough stars in space to give this album...i suppose that means i liked it.

4.0 out of 5 stars it has its flaws but..., 11 May 2009
that Brendan fella on this board or is it George Galloway in disguise ???was watching a completly different film to me im sure. The point of the film was to basically say we are all as bad as one another - not that the Americans are superior. You need to sit down and watch it again.
It took me a while to get around to watching this movie as i had a whole bunch of other movies to get through. I must admit that i was sceptical about this release due to a few bad reviews.
I'll tell you now that i am not one for shoot em up action films but i can say this was a far sight better than the recently released "Body of Lies". The film is a bit slow to start with but does eventually take off. I disagree with another reviewer on this board who states that you just dont care for the characters... i did especially the Saudi copper.
The ending shoot out is a bit far fetched but a very good action sequence, the problem is i just don't believe FBI agents are that hardcore..it would have been more believable if it was the marines. Anyway this subject and the foreign policy and religious violence will never stop.. its been going on since the crusaders. The film has its flaws but is not biased in anyway.
The soundtrack by Danny Elfman is fantastic i initially thought is was by Texan band "Explosions in the Sky" which i suppose would have been more appropriate due to the films underlying message about the dreaded black stuff "Oil"
The bluray PQ is top quality as is the HD master audio.

5.0 out of 5 stars The second coming, 7 May 2009
This review is from: Lotusflow3r (Audio CD)
Ive been a fan for 25 years and i can honestly say the new Lotus and MPL sound cd is the best he has put out since Lovesexy. These albums far out class even Diamonds & Pearls and the symbol album and the very mediocre and irritating 'Most beautiful girl in the world', one of his biggest hits, where i feel he started to lose it. 'Come' in the midnineties had its moments but i generally was'nt impressed by 90's Prince other than 'I Hate U which was a great track. I am into the more edgier Prince - i love his early beats - the Linn drum machine in all its glory - the voice manipulation- the screeches- the moans and the sighs to me they are Prince's trademark, i also have a love for his guitar playing and although we heard moments on his previous album Planet Earth, on Lotus Flower we have it bigtime. 'Wall of Berlin' has'nt been off my stereo- that tune has a serious geeeettttaaahhh workout....i thought i had gone to heaven. The same for the song Dreamer. '77 Beverley Park sounds like it should be the soundtrack for an Italian gangster movie and 'Love Like Jazz' could have been put on the middle of the Parade album in 1986.
MPL sound has beats that will rip your face off - we have claps that remind us of the intro to Sign o the Times - we have jiggs that remind us of the track "Delirious" we also hear 'Shockadelica' voice manipulation.. its a vast collection of old school purple beats and i am loving it. What do people expect...you are never going to get a "Doves Cry or a Purple Rain again. I personally think the album tracks and b-sides far outweighed his singles anyway..My favourite Prince albums are Dirty Mind, 1999 and Sign o the Times so this will give you a heads up on the style of Prince i love. The R'N'B and Rap stuff he was spewing out just does'nt do it for me. After listening to Planet Earth , Lotus Flower & MPL Sound i can honestly say this is the Second Coming and its just what i need at this time of my life...when i hear them old school prurple sounds it takes me back to a time when i had no responsibilities, i was young and having fun..this man is like medicine for my soul. Thanks Prince for repaying all the faith i put in you and rewarding my patience. I thought you was gone for good. The purple one is truly back
