4.0 out of 5 stars Useful brightly coloured wallets for repeat use., 30 April 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
These brightly coloured elasticated wallets are well made and have the advantage of a removal card slot on the front so that you can mark and use them on repeated numbers of projects. I find them very useful and only remove the fifth star as I think they are a bit over priced. Otherwise recommendable.

Shakespeare's First Folio: Four Centuries of an Iconic Book
by Emma Smith
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £13.33

5.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing and engaging study of Shakespeare's First Folios, 25 April 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a fascinating exploration of Shakespearian First Folios, which traces their owners, when they were bought, how they were annotated and their subsequent sale into various collections from America to Japan. There is so much of interest here and Emma Smith is an erudite and fascinating guide. It is a treasure trove of information and anyone with an interest in Shakespeare First Folios and indeed in the bard himself will be sure to find many things of interest within. I enjoyed this book very much and can heartily recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent programme if a bit over complex in design., 13 April 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is an excellent editing package which works very well. I found , with all the many extras the programme encapsulates, that navigating simple tasks was quite difficult. So many choices were available for special effects etc that it was complicated to understand, for me anyway. Expert hands who are used to this kind of interface will no doubt sail through the many variables on offer, but the beginner may find it hard going.

5.0 out of 5 stars Richly drawn characters in an exciting victorian fantasy, 4 April 2016
This review is from: Smoke (Hardcover)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I thoroughly enjoyed this new novel by Dan Vyleta. Set in an alternative version of Victorian England sin is visible in the form of smoke and soot and London a veritable cesspit of the stuff. How to combat the smoke is central to this diverting tale of rich and poor, haves and have nots, and the principal characters, 2 teenage schoolboys and the daughter of a noble are richly drawn by the author. The idea of sin being made physically manifest is an excellent one, and the author weaves his tale expertly and sometimes bloodily to an exciting and satisfying conclusion. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well made, very useful set of packing bags, 16 Mar. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This well made set of four mesh packing bags are very useful, particularly if, like me you travel a lot. The bags are suitable for shoes, shirt/ tshirts, smalls etc and enable and because of their size, fit very well into a cabin bag. The size of the bags encourages you to take what you need and no more and I am well pleased with them.

Menagerie: The History of Exotic Animals in England
Menagerie: The History of Exotic Animals in England
by Caroline Grigson
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £20.29

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and erudite history of a neglected but very interesting subject, 16 Mar. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I thoroughly enjoyed this colorful history of exotic animals in Britain. As an art lover I have seen many pictures from the Elizabethan age through to today where exotic animals are present but was unaware of the interesting history behind how they got to Britain and how they were kept etc etc. Caroline Grigson proves an invaluable guide through the history of how Royalty and others, took to keeping exotic animals for sport, for exhibition and sometimes just as pets. There is much of interest here and it is a jolly good read. Anyone interested in the subject can do no better than to procure this highly entertaining and original volume.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful cleaner with superb suction power on carpet and laminate, 16 Mar. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a first rate cleaner. The diagramatic instructions are not very clear, but having mastered how to put it together,I tried it round the house with first rate results. On carpet you can see the carpet rise to the powerful suction of the machine and one sweep of an area is sufficient to clean the surface properly. On laminate it is similarly effective. This is a real step forward from my previous cleaner and with its reducing allergen power it is a first rate quality product which I can heartily recommend

Rexel ActiVita Strip+ Daylight Lamp with Clock, Date and Temperature LCD display
Rexel ActiVita Strip+ Daylight Lamp with Clock, Date and Temperature LCD display
Offered by NORMANS OFFICE
Price: £61.32

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful well designed desk light., 11 Mar. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a great desk light. It has 3 different light states with various dimmer levels. I use it as a bedside light and the dimmed warm glow is ideal for reading. The lcd display is clear and easily readable. usb soket for charging on the side. The lamp also gives the temperature but sometimes it seems to register a higher temperature than it actually is, not wuite sure why. Main bugbear is that the on/off and dimmer touch settings are very difficult to make out - particularly annoying when you try to switch on in the dark, even with the display llluminated. Also it does not remember the previous lighting state, which is annoying when you switch on and get this white light. These are fairly minor quibbles but should be mentioned. Otherwise the light works really well and with its angled arm and slim look it is an attractive and useful item.

Russell Hobbs Textures Plastic Kettle 21270, 1.7 L, 3000 W - White
Price: £19.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent kettle with some useful features., 4 Mar. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is an excellent kettle. It has some ergonomic features which I like very much. The sput ensures a steady even flow. inside the kettle there are 3 red markers for 1, 2 and 3 cups so that you don't have to boil anymore than you actually need. The push button to lift the lid works really well and finally it boils very quickly. This is a super kettle which is so much better than my previous one. Recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars Elgin Marbles and other artifacts, should they be returned? Very well written argument giving a balanced contemporary view., 29 Feb. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
An excellent book which explores the history of how western museums acquired various artefacts which are now the subject of demands for their return from their countries of origin. Tiffany Jenkins argues cogently that our museums are not there to serve narrow idealogical purposes of cultural identity. There is much to ponder in this extremely well written book and whatever your own view, you will find much of interest to discover both historically and socially within.
