Sod Abroad: Why you'd be mad to leave the comfort of your own home
Sod Abroad: Why you'd be mad to leave the comfort of your own home
by Michael Moran
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars SOLO TRIUMPH, 21 Jun. 2008
We all pretend to love travel but once you have read Moran's sparkling little volume you will stay at home and do something more interesting instead and improve your mind, body and bank-balance. SOD ABROAD is funnier than Grumpy Old Men, wiser than Melvyn Bragg and less expensive than a Ryan Air sandwich. I loved it and you will love it - in fact we will probably have to fight a duel for who loves this book the most. BUY IT NOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars MOUTH-WATERING ANTICIPATION, 12 Aug. 2006
This should be a total treat - Silvena's last book SUPERGRUB made me severely readdress my limited repertoire of dishes and now that Silvena is returning to her own geographical territory in Eastern Europe this should be even more of a must-have. I can't wait and this feels like a lot of Christmas present problems have already been solved......

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BOY IS BACK IN TOWN, 15 Mar. 2005
This review is from: Straight (Hardcover)
This is everthing one could ever hope for - brilliantly written with experienced rock journo Paul Gorman - and is a further chapter in the life of one of the world's most inspirational and colourful creative personalities. As wicked as ever but always with a sparkle in his eye - STRAIGHT is a worthy successor to TAKE IT LIKE A MAN. You won't be disappointed - this is a terrific rollercoaster of a book.

5.0 out of 5 stars PERFECT COMBINATION PERFECT BOOK, 11 Oct. 2004
Newcomer on the scene Silvena Rowe has put together a mouth-watering selection of really tempting alternatives to standard dinner-party fayre. Once you've read this book there are NO EXCUSES for serving chicken in a white wine sauce or just a lasagne - go for gold and don't break the bank. The joy of this book is that alongside each fabulous menu (which is all cleverly priced and with easy to follow instructions) there is an informed and informative wine masterclass from Malcolm Gluck himself.
Silvena and Malcolm - we salute you.

5.0 out of 5 stars BETTER THAN LAST YEAR, 31 Aug. 2004
I am Benrik's agent and have just received a finished copy of this year's diary. I gave it to Benrik's biggest fan and harshest critic - my son Jack - he pronounced it 'really cool and better than last year'. I have to concur - it really is amazing. When you have bought it buy their other book COUPLES.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS THE REAL THING - HEAR THE NOISE, 20 Sept. 2001
This review is from: Rainbow Singer (Paperback)
This is a cult classic - Kerr's creation is a speed garage journey to oblivion and back. Buy it, read it and revel in the teenage angst and taut prose.
