2.0 out of 5 stars Wait!, 29 July 2014
Some funny moments but nowhere as good as the Tv show. Like I said there are some laugh out loud moments but mostly bad jokes recycled humour and stupid situations. Wait until this is cheap!

3.0 out of 5 stars Some funny moments but the sun is going down., 5 Jun. 2014
This review is from: Benidorm - Series 6 [DVD] (DVD)
Having watched every series of Benidorm since the series debut in 2007, I have enjoyed every series thoroughly. Series 4 onwards took a little while to warm to but I still love series 4 and like series 5 although it was beginning to jump the shark then. Back to series 6, the show is really beginning to decline. There is something about this series that seems to be missing. There is no warmth to it and the characters are becoming parodies of themselves. There are still some funny moments. I do have mixed opinions about the new family, as the Garvey/Dyke rivalry was a tad hit and miss, in my opinion. Kenneth is no longer funny, just over the top, crude and vulgar. Originally loud and camp to counter Gavin's prude snobbishness, he is now just there as an awful parody of an awful stereotype. Even Madge has lost some of her humour. Her cutting, two face persona is now over the top and just simply unbelievable. She is nothing more than a loud nasty bully with an aggressive demeanor who seems to be as hurtful as possible to every other character in the show. The Swingers are still quite funny but it is more of the same recycled innuendos. Les/Lesley had lost the comedy value entirely now. He/she was only intended as a one off episode character in my opinion. There are still some laughs to be had but the comedy value is rapidly deteriorating. I hope Series 7 is the last.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Holy grail of television!, 15 Aug. 2013
This series is one of the best piece of television ever produced in my opinion. The first series is my favourite, and the second has a feel of a bigger broader sequel than a continuation. Very very good also but do prefer Series 1. The characters are very well developed and the movie references are forever present. Many people moan that it is not as funny as the League of Gentlemen, however it is not meant to be. The comedy is fantastic and dark, but the show is a mystery- drama-comedy-horror, and succeeds in blending all genres together. It keeps you gripped with its twists and cliffhanger but is re-watchable over and over. Fantastic!

1.0 out of 5 stars About as funny as AIDs, 15 Aug. 2013
Seriously, saw this on Christmas Day . 2 years of waiting and this is all they could produce? Lazily written, too much "over the top" acting and repetition. A parody of the original royle family. What a shame. Originally funny because everyone could find someone they knew within the royle family, now the characters seem to be slow, repetitive and Gormless. all in all this is Unfunny and a great letdown.

The League Of Gentlemen - Series 3 (2002) [DVD]
The League Of Gentlemen - Series 3 (2002) [DVD]
Dvd ~ Mark Gatiss

5.0 out of 5 stars Most compelling league series, 10 May 2013
Previous League of Gentlemen series were exceptional. Dark, surreal and unique. The only way to maintain the quality and keep the show fresh was the direction chosen here. Whilst not as funny in some respects, the episodes are much more gripping in terms of character development and storytelling. Whilst series 1 and 2 had a recurring narrative theme throughout (New road in series 1, nosebleed epidemic in series 2), this has a much more climactic 'big event' that leaves you gripped and guessing how each characte will be somehow linked to this event. People who don't like this series obviously don't understand that the league needed to change format. Rather than staying safe and having another series of the same old laughter track and theatrical characters, the league braved it and tried something new... And it worked. Very much so. Highly recommended, but if your a fan of series 1/2 give this a chance, for the new format to grow on you. Best episodes - 1,4,5 and of course 6 - which is one of the finest pieces of television ever created
