5.0 out of 5 stars A great look at Anglo-Saxon England in transition., 9 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I believe this is the 15th book in the series and the charaters and plot lines are still interesting and challenging.Ms.Clare obviously puts a lot of research into her novels and you are always left with good historical information regarding Englands transition from a predominantly Anglo-saxon/Viking culture

4.0 out of 5 stars You can hear Beethoven's Fidelio with Ries's own contributions, 9 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
i really enjoy Ries's music. His piano concertos, soanatas and chamber music are all excellent contributions to the literature. His vocal works have good but not great moments. On my first listening to Die Rauberbraut I was a bit disappointed. However on my 2nd and 3rd listening I realized that they were some very good moments musically it was the libretto that was weak and somewhat ineffectual
I would recommend this 2 box set.It is a rarity in the opera genre and some of the musical interludes and ballet music are Ries at his finest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book and excellent customer service, 22 Feb. 2011
Corby's new series has an excellent introduction with "Pericles"
Ancient greece was brought to life, the characters had depth and the plot was intricate and I'm assuming a tremendous amount of historical research went into the work.I'm looking forward to the next installment

5.0 out of 5 stars Frazer is a master story teller, 25 Sept. 2009
Once again Margaret Frazer has created an excellent mystery that brings to life medieval customs and everyday life. Her story is well plotted with enough twists and turns to keep you thinking

Empire of Dragons
Empire of Dragons

4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting mixture, 1 July 2009
This review is from: Empire of Dragons (Hardcover)
I enjoy Manfredi's historical fiction. This novel combines the empires of Rome and China and their totally different world views. A very different and novel approach to a plot

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Sequel, 1 July 2009
This review is from: The Secret Speech (Hardcover)
An excellent sequel to his first novel. The pace was fast, the plot takes many twists and turns and as in the previous novel an excellent historical overview of post-Syalinist Russia
