3.0 out of 5 stars Use as a corsage rather than headpiece, 8 Dec. 2016

This isn't suitable for your hair as clip is not big enough. However I wore it as a corsage for my jacket for which matched my dress for a wedding. It then complimented my outfit and finished it off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Read - Highly Recommend - Another Triumph, 7 Dec. 2016
Mac Parrish is the main protoagnist in Roy E Stoyworthy's new novel Pennies in Pound. Set in London's Underworld. It moves from Mac's early life as teenage delinquent, and life from a broken home set against domestic violence to him wanting to be top dog over the city he loves, London.

The story moves at a fast pace and is filled with violent scenes you would expect to see in films such as the Long Good Friday. Mac plays himself against two main villains to get to the top, after at first being a patsy for one and doing a spell in prison and then becoming a bit of muscle with a glock and a twisted sense of humour for the other, but all the time never taking his eye of the ball or his main aim which is to beat both these villains Benny the Mouse and Stick Crowley to get to the top. With scenes from the Old Kent Road, Camberwell, London Eye, Soho, Docklands plus an East End boozer called the Pomfret, the imagery within the book is full of menace and violence like any underworld gangster thriller; yet there is a lot of dark humour, suspense and twisted irony along the way. For women who love Martina Cole this book you will love. For men who enjoy the Godfather or books of that ilk, this is a book for you.

The characters in this book are excellently drawn, are fully rounded and are an excellent cast that support the story. I particularly liked the character of Ruby and felt this character could even have had a book of her own, as I would have loved to have known more about her. There are many twists and turns within the story (and with the characters) and Roy Stolworthy manages to keep the suspense going right until the end. I often wondered what went on in this author's mind as I read due to the imaginative story telling, with some steamy sex scenes plus a donkey sanctuary scheme that will have you saying like me - this author is a born storyteller. However it's the ending that will get you.The ending being one of the best that you can get in a book and it does leave you extremely satisfied.

Overall Pennies in a Pound is an excellent read. The title is interesting. I particularly loved Roy E Stolworthy's use of language. He uses some of the most original similies and metaphors I have ever come across, yet it only serves to paint fantastic images and scenes. This is the third Roy E Stolworthy book that I have read and like all of his books, once started I simply could not put it down until I had reached the end. To me that is the sign of a good story and a good book. So on that basis I will say Roy E Stolworthy has triumphed again. A great read. Highly recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant series but for the last episode, 16 Oct. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Extremely well acted and good show. I have followed all the ripper street series and found it to be a really good peice of drama and well acted. I enjoyed being able to watch these episodes back to back and the series was one of the better of the ripper street series. However, there is a huge but. And that but is the final episode. Whoever wrote that needs shooting! It was a cop out of an ending to a stellar series. It flashed backwards and forwards between time leaving the viewer confused.Major characters completely changed their whole personas in that one episode. When writing an ending the viewer needs to feel satisisfied that it's the natural conclusion and be happy with the ending that's reached. The ending in this was contrived and just awful. They would have had five stars but for that ending.Shame on the writers for giving such a brilliant series such a dreadful final episode when it deserved so much more!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Historical Read by a Fantastic Writer, 22 Aug. 2016
This review is from: Child of the Phoenix (Paperback)
If you love history you will love this book. This book totally has it all. Based on one of Barbara's own ancestors Child of the Phoenix is one of my all time favourite stories. It's a fantastic read and one I can return to again and again and never get bored of. Eleyne is strong woman and a fierce and totally fantastic heroine. You completely feel for her. It has all the elements of a great and classic story and would make a fantastic film. I love all of Barbara's books but overall this is my overall favourite of all time.
