Rapesco Zero-40 Heavy Duty Long Handled 2 Hole Punch, 40 sheet Capacity - Silver
Rapesco Zero-40 Heavy Duty Long Handled 2 Hole Punch, 40 sheet Capacity - Silver
Price: £19.83

4.0 out of 5 stars Rapesco Zero-40 Heavy Duty Hole Punch, 25 July 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The Zero-40 hole punch, will punch holes in up to 40 sheets of paper (up to 4mm), with 6mm holes that are 80mm apart. It doesn't look like any standard hole punch - perhaps because it can punch through so much paper in one go. I don't think it's that attractive to look at and it will take up quite a lot of room on your desk - so more the sort of thing you'd get out when you needed to use it. It has a hidden lock-down switch - you can only see it when you push the handle of the punch down, which is a nice little design touch. The confetti tray is hard plastic (not rubberized) this slides open and shut and takes a little bit of force to move.

So far there have been no issues with jamming. If you were using it to punch through lots of large documents you are probably going to find it tiring - it's a heavy duty punch, not a less effort one. The paper guide is metal (rather than the usual plastic) and you read it through a hole in the centre of the punch and not at the edge. You do have to be careful how you insert the guide as you can mis-thread it.

Overall this is a pretty robust piece of kit, more suited for an office of work environment where you'll be doing a lot of heavy duty hole punching.

Rapesco X5-25ps Less Effort Stapler - Powder Blue
Rapesco X5-25ps Less Effort Stapler - Powder Blue
Price: £9.38

4.0 out of 5 stars Rapesco X5-25ps Less Effort Stapler - Powder Blue, 24 July 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This stapler as well as being a very pretty pale blue colour, will staple up to 25 sheets, takes 24/6mm and 26/6mm staples, has a full metal inner chassis and apparently takes 60% less effort to use than other comparable staplers. You'd expect with it being 60% less effort that this would be noticeable when you use it - and it is! You definitely use less effort to get the staple through, to the point where when you first use it, you find yourself wanting to staple things to appreciate the difference. (The novelty does wear off). But this would be a great stapler for anyone who has weakness in their hands or wrists.

There is a staple supply indicator - basically a hole in the side of the magazine which lets you see when the staples are close to running out. To refill the stapler you pull up on the handle, the top of the magazine pulls back and you drop the new staples in. To close the magazine you just push the handle back into position.

This won't take up that much room on your desk, dimensions are (length 12cm, width 3cm, height 8cm). The stapling section of mine doesn't seem to completely close (as in the picture on the product page) but it works perfectly fine.

Overall - this stapler is great if you do a lot of stapling of small documents/booklets, especially if you have problems with your hands or wrists, ideal for home/office use and it looks good too.

Animal Querkles: A puzzling colour-by-numbers book
Animal Querkles: A puzzling colour-by-numbers book
by Thomas Pavitte
Edition: Paperback
Price: £4.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Animal Querkles Colour-by-Numbers, 24 July 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a colour by numbers book for those who are looking for something a little different on the adult colouring book front. Rather than having free rein over which colours to use, Querkles use a restricted palette of 5 shades - you can choose to cross hatch in the same tone, use the same colour but vary the shade or use different colours going from dark to light. Each Querkle picture is made up of a series of circles. Areas within the circles and where the circles overlap are numbered from 1 - 5, with 1 being the darkest shade you should use, and 5 being the lightest. (Any segments that aren't numbered should be left blank). Often you can't tell what you're working on until you've finished colouring, though there is a page of 20 thumbnail pictures showing you what the finished drawings should look like if you don't want to be surprised and want to make sure your colour palette is appropriate).

All the completed pages can be detached from the book and mounted, or detached and worked on away from the book. At A3 size this pad is harder to curl up with (as you watch tv in the evening) than an A4 pad.

The first two pages are instructions and tips, for example - it is recommended to start with a single colour and use cross-hatching to vary the intensity of your shading until you've got a feel for it - this is great if you've only got a pencil and don't own any colours. You can still get stuck in straight away.

I have to be honest this colouring craze had pretty much passed me by, but what appealed to me about this book was the puzzle-like aspect of it. I started out cross-hatching and it's obviously a long time since I coloured anything in as I was struggling to stay in the lines. But this IS fun and relaxing. I'm torn between being glad there is a page that shows you what the finished drawings could look like and not being glad. Part of me would like the pictures to be completely mysterious, but the other part of me really wants to use an appropriate colour scheme. The only little annoyance is that even though the numbers on the Querkles do vary in tone (1 is the boldest, 5 is the faintest), they will still be visible through most pale colours. Though if you're cross-hatching you can kind of incorporate them into the design and hide them,

Overall - Love this, very relaxing way to wind down in the evenings.

Post-it 76mm x 76mm Notes Cube - Neon Pink Rainbow (325 Sheets)
Post-it 76mm x 76mm Notes Cube - Neon Pink Rainbow (325 Sheets)
Price: £3.63

4.0 out of 5 stars Post-it 76mm x 76mm Notes Cube - Neon Pink Rainbow, 23 July 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This "cube" is 325 sheets of 76mm x 76mm Post-its in a variety of colours - three lots of bright yellow interleaved with pink, orange, dark pink and neon green. (I do find it harder to read writing on the dark pink sheets).

It's a great block to have next to your phone for taking messages - either at home or at work - and should last you quite a while. I find them really useful and am always leaving reminders for myself stuck to my desk. These notes do have a slight chemical smell when you first unwrap them, but it dissipates quite quickly. These aren't the super sticky post-its but you should still be able to remove and reapply them a few times if necessary.

The current price is 3.63 (for a 325 sheet cube), it's worth noting that Post-it cubes do come in other sizes (400 and 450 sheets) and with the way prices fluctuate on Amazon, sometimes those will be cheaper than this one. So before buying it's worth doing a little price comparison to make sure you're getting the most for your money. These may be slightly more expensive than the non-branded versions but they do seem to last longer and stand up better to being removed, reapplied and removed again.

Post-it 630-6PK 76mm x 76mm Ruled Notes Pad - Canary Yellow (Pack of 6, 100 Sheets Per Pad)
Post-it 630-6PK 76mm x 76mm Ruled Notes Pad - Canary Yellow (Pack of 6, 100 Sheets Per Pad)

4.0 out of 5 stars Post-it 76mmx76mm Ruled Note Pads - Canary Yellow, 23 July 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
These Post-it notes come in a pack of 6, each pad is 76mm x 76mm and there are 100 sheets per pad - basically your standard square Post-it pad in traditional canary yellow, except these are ruled. I'm not sure why you'd want a more formal appearing Post-it, but if ever you did, it's available.

The current price for 6 works out at just over 1.50 per pad. They do cost more than other generic versions of the product, but I've found that in general this is one case where the brand leader is the best. Even though these aren't the newer super-sticky notes, you can still remove and reapply them a few times before the sticky edge dies.

They don't have a strong chemical smell when you open the packet (unlike some other Post-its), this is a big bonus. I think these would probably be most useful for revision / as a study aid, with the lines making sure you'll be able to read your notes after you've made them.

Overall - good as standard Post-it notes, but unless you've a desperate yen for a ruled Post-it, I'd stick with the plain, as they give you more freedom to fill the whole sheet with writing (if need be).

Bourjois Little Round Pot Nude Edition Eyeshadow, Generose 02
Bourjois Little Round Pot Nude Edition Eyeshadow, Generose 02
Price: £6.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Bourgeois Little Round Pot Nude Edition - Generose, 22 July 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I love this, I've not used these Little Round Pots before but I'm impressed. The little pot contains a single eyeshadow, slightly domed in shape and about an inch in diameter - so quite a bit of eyeshadow to use. The mirror inside the pot gives a really crisp and slightly magnified reflection. This has a real quality feel and look, it has a nice weight to it and the magnetic closure closes with a satisfying snap.

Generose is a beautiful shade for summer, light, pink and shimmery. It applies easily, blends well and doesn't accumulate in skin creases. If you apply it dry, it's quite a subtle shimmer, which you can gradually build up. If you apply it wet, you get the same shade but a more intense colour.

This is just the right size to slip inside your handbag, though if you don't like applying shadow using your fingertips you'll also have to carry a brush / applicator as there isn't one in the pot. (That's the only negative).

Overall, I love this. Beautiful shade that applies well. I'll definitely be checking out other shades in the collection.

Rapesco 19 mm Mini Foldback Paper Clips with 75 sheet Capacity - Assorted Colours, Pack of 10
Rapesco 19 mm Mini Foldback Paper Clips with 75 sheet Capacity - Assorted Colours, Pack of 10
Price: £3.00

4.0 out of 5 stars Rapesco 19mm Mini Foldback Paper Clips (pack of 10), 22 July 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
19mm mini foldback paper clips that come in a pack of ten. Great for when a standard paper clip isn't going to be strong enough to get the job done.
They seem well made and at current prices work out at 30p per clip.

The 10 clips come in 5 different colours - I'm not sure if the colour sent is random - I received five bright "happy" colours - pink, orange, blue, green and yellow (these are different to the ones on the product page). So a small way of cheering up your work space.

Although the description says they will hold up to 75 sheets of paper, this is pushing it, you'd be better off getting a larger clip if you plan on holding large amounts of documents together. They do come loose in a plastic bag, so once you've opened them they're going to be escaping, unless you have a little pot/tub to keep them in.

Useful things to have in the home and office.

Maybelline Vivid Matte Lipstick Number 45, Possessed Plum
Maybelline Vivid Matte Lipstick Number 45, Possessed Plum
Price: £6.99

3.0 out of 5 stars Maybelline Vivid Matte Lipstick - Possessed Plum, 21 July 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I wanted to like this more than I did, (I usually love Maybelline products so I was hopeful) and colour-wise I think it was one of the better matte lipsticks I've tried.

This comes in a very smart bottle, which had a nice weight to it and it has a screw neck, so the top is not going to easily come loose and leak all over your bag.The lipstick had a pleasant scent, that wasn't overpowering and the colour when applied wasn't too bad, it's much more of a wintery colour though, kind of a crushed elderberry purple.

However, the sponge applicator was not the best shaped I've seen, it was quite skinny and difficult to tell which way round it should go. I don't think the lipstick applied that well - not helped by the shape of the applicator. Once applied it felt okay and it didn't dry out my lips too much, like some matte lipsticks have in the past. For me - the colour on my monitor didn't match the colour I received. The monitor is quite a pale purple and in the bottle it looks quite dark. Obviously some monitors will have better colour resolution than others but it's something to bear in mind, especially if you're buying the colour for the first time. The colour does bleed so you'd want to consider using a lip pencil with it. I didn't find the colour lasted that well, so you'll need to reapply it throughout the day/evening.

Overall - not too bad though.

Rapesco 720 4-Hole Metal Punch - Pink
Rapesco 720 4-Hole Metal Punch - Pink
Price: £11.16

3.0 out of 5 stars Rapesco 720 4-Hole Metal Punch - Pink, 20 July 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This 4-hole metal punch will punch up to 22 pages at a time (though to save unnecessary jams best to stick to fewer sheets) with four 6mm holes, and it's an attractive pale pink colour. I wouldn't call this a heavy duty punch (although being mainly steel construction it is quite a heavy bit of kit) as 22 sheets of paper at a push is not heavy duty. It has the seemingly standard hole punch features of an adjustable paper guide and a locking device for safety and storage. It also has a flip open confetti tray (actually two flip open confetti trays) and a personalisation window (actually two personalisation windows). This doubling up of features on the base of the hole punch makes it look like two separate two hole punches that have been welded together rather than something that has been designed for purpose.

The flip open confetti trays initially seem like a good idea - you don't have to take the entire base off to empty them - but the plastic base is scored to create the opening, and it feels that after prolonged use the plastic will split along here, meaning you'll need a new hole punch. The personalisation windows are basically a paper label behind a plastic tab, so you can put your name on your stationery equipment and claim it for your own. In this case you can do it twice. I don't think it would really deter the office stationery thief ("borrower") but at least with this punch they'll have to remove two labels rather than one. And unless I'm using it wrongly, the guide that's supplied with the punch is just the standard A4 guide you'd get with any punch - it's not set up for four holes, though you can work out where to set it, so you get your four holes where you want them.

Pricewise - the pastel pink and pastel blue colour variants are currently the same price - 11.16. The black version is slightly more expensive at 12.60. If you're not fussed about colour it's worth going for a pastel.

Overall - you only really need this punch if you've got a four-ring binder that you want to put paperwork in. If you don't, then you'd be better off sticking with a standard two-hole punch.
