Post-it Index Medium Plastic Dispenser - Bright Blue (Pack of 50)
Post-it Index Medium Plastic Dispenser - Bright Blue (Pack of 50)
Price: £3.36

5.0 out of 5 stars Post-It Index Flags - Bright Blue, 11 July 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
These Post-it Index Flags come in a pack of 50 and each flag measures 25.4mm x 43.2mm. The packet acts as a dispenser - the hanging part of the packet detaches from the part that holds the index tabs, so you can keep the dispenser part and discard the rest. These index tabs (as well as bright blue) come in a large variety of colours - purple, orange, pink, red, yellow, green - so you can use them to colour code subjects if you wish.

They are very useful, and can be applied, removed and reapplied over and over. So although they may cost more than similar products from other brands, they do last longer. They are great for highlighting specific pages, using as tabs on index cards or suspended files, or in ring binders. I've found them useful for marking pages in cookery books. You can write on the flags - this is good if you're using them for indexing - but I prefer to use them as page markers.

Be aware that the price does seem to vary according to colour (on the day of writing this review the yellow pack is £1.60 and the orange pack is £3.99), so unless you're desperate to use a specific colour it's worth shopping around to see which is the cheapest.

Another very useful item from the Post-it brand, that you didn't know you needed until they made it.

Burt's Bees Balms Gift Set
Burt's Bees Balms Gift Set
Price: £9.74

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Lip Balm Set, 10 July 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I am a huge fan of Burt's Bees Lip Balms, and this is lovely set of four which comes in a nice gift box. The gift box is designed to look like a little drawer and has a ribbon tag for you to pull it open. It's well made out of thick card and has a quality feel to it.

There are four different lip balms in the set - Beeswax Lip Balm with Vitamin E and Peppermint, Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil, Hydrating Lip Balm with Coconut and Pear, and Vanilla Bean Lip Balm. I have to be honest, I couldn't really explain the difference between Replenishing and Hydrating, but they all make my lips feel great. All the lip balms come with a seal around the cap, so you know they haven't been previously opened. Each lip balm has a different coloured cap/label so you can easily identify them, once you're used to which colour goes with which balm. On the side of the gift box it says "Uncap Flavour", but I thought all the lip balms had quite subtle scents unlike some other current lip balms which have very fruity smells. These are lip balms and you do have to reapply them throughout the day. I always have one in my handbag so I can apply it whenever my lips feel dry.

The Peppermint is probably my least favourite, I've used this before and have to be in the mood to wear it, as the peppermint oil makes your lips tingle. The Coconut and Pear was lovely, you can smell the coconut but not to the point where it's overpowering. The Pomegranate has a fruity scent and is the only lip balm which is tinted pink. The Vanilla has a very subtle smell of Vanilla, if you didn't know what it was you probably wouldn't be able to identify it. I could have done with this one being a little more strongly scented.

The current cost of the gift set is 12.99, which works out at just under 3.25 a balm. So they are at the higher end of the lip balm market, but I do think that they are a lovely product and are worth it.

This is a great selection for someone to try Burt's Bees products, my only disappointment is that they haven't included the Honey Lip Balm which is my favourite. This would make a lovely present for anyone who is a fan of Burt's Bees lip balms, or for anyone who likes lip balms in general.

Anne Klein Women's Quartz Watch with Rose Gold Dial Analogue Display and Pink Ceramic Bracelet AK/N1018PMLP
Anne Klein Women's Quartz Watch with Rose Gold Dial Analogue Display and Pink Ceramic Bracelet AK/N1018PMLP
Price: £59.43

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The watch comes in a smart black gift box, with the Anne Klein logo on it. The interior of the box is white, and the watch sits on a faux white leather pillow. When you take the watch out of the box, it has a nice heavy quality feel to it, it doesn't feel cheap. The ceramic band is a very pale pink, which almost looks like it's made of shell. This effect is emphasised by the pale pink mother of pearl dial.

There is a double clasp (clasp extender) in a rose gold coloured metal, meaning you can easily remove one of the clasps to make the band smaller. However, because the clasps are larger than normal links you get quite a big reduction in bracelet size. If you want a finer adjustment you'll need to take it to a jeweller's to get a link removed (if you don't feel confident enough to do it yourself). There are diagrams in the instruction booklet on how to extend the clasp and also how to remove links. With the second clasp taken out the band was still slightly too big for me, but I have slender wrists (~15 cm). It is wearable with the second clasp removed though it does slide a little on my wrist. Be careful when reattaching the second clasp, make sure it's facing the right way round.

I thought the contrast between the pale pink of the band, and the rose gold tone metal of the clasp and watch face worked well. The time is marked by 3 gold tone marks at the 3,6 and 9 position, 12 o'clock is marked by a diamond. Though this is a very tiny diamond. The watch has no date function, but I don't mind that. And it isn't water resistant either, so maybe best to take it off when you're doing the washing up. It seems to keep reasonable time, so far no problems with it gaining or losing minutes.

Overall, an elegant looking watch, perhaps slightly more suited to evening wear. It would make a lovely gift.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bosch Quigo Cross Line Laser with MM02 Mount, 5 July 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is quite a useful piece of kit and is reasonably simple to use - you put the two AAA batteries (supplied with the laser level) into the battery compartment and pull up the slide and a red "cross" is projected onto the wall. It does take a little setting up though - it's self-levelling range is plus or minus four degrees, which is quite tight. If it manages to self-level you get a steady laser cross, if it can't self-level you'll get a flashing laser cross instead, and may want to think about adjusting it's position.

This version comes with an MM02 mount which allows you to clamp it to different objects, and an adapter plate which makes it easier to align the measuring tool to a reference point (it lets you slide the laser back and forth a short distance). The instruction book shows you which surfaces you can attach the adapter plate to. As well as the mount it can also be used with a tripod, if you have one.

If you've not used a laser before you need to read the instruction booklet as there is lots of safety information and do's and don'ts to be taken in. (For instance, don't leave the batteries in, if you're not going to be using it). I think it's one of those pieces of kit, that the more you use it, the simpler it becomes, until you get to the point where you wonder how you managed to do anything without it.

Do pay attention when you unpack it, as I've found it impossible to get it back into the box without bits of the mount sticking up. Overall - a useful addition to the home DIY'ers tool kit.

Fei Liu Fine Jewellery Acorn Single Pendant on a Chain of 43cm
Fei Liu Fine Jewellery Acorn Single Pendant on a Chain of 43cm
Price: £65.00

4.0 out of 5 stars Simply Elegant, 4 July 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I have to admit I wasn't that impressed with the gift box, it's almost putty grey in colour, with Fei in pink font on the lid of the box, not really that attractive. But, my opinion changed when I opened the box - the simple silver and pearl pendant sits on pale purple plush and looks stunning. The plainness of the box works to the pendants advantage, you're not expecting anything much and then you see something lovely. The pendant has a nice weight to it and hangs well, it doesn't just look like a quality item, it feels like one too.

When I lifted the pendant out of the box, I was disappointed that the chain (which is very delicate) was twisted around itself, but I managed to untangle it without getting any kinks in the chain. Be warned, this does have a short chain (only 43 cm, just over 16 inches), so if you have a larger neck you may feel it doesn't sit right. I'm wearing it using the full length of the extender and the pendant sits just between my collar bones. This is shorter than I'd usually wear a pendant, but because it's quite delicate I think it works well.

This would make a lovely gift - as a first piece of grown up jewellery, or as a present for someone who doesn't like fussy or ostentatious necklaces. Simply beautiful.
