Our six year old and three year old Grand-daughters were spellbound by this DVD and their attention never waivered throughout. They could relate easily to the Characters as this authentic animation with voice-over literally bought their Beatrix Potter story books to life. The portrayal of a "real life" Beatrix before and after each episode was a lovely touch. A really top production and many thanks to Amazon UK for having it available.

Another "Quality British Drama"- who else can make this type of programme? Its been many years since a Period Piece of this standard has been on our television screens. A story of a family from Britain's "Old Aristocracy" whose lifestyle remained unchanged for generations. They are about to embark a whole new Era with the advent of World War I which will change the family's direction forever. Their former self-absorbed existence is about to give way to the levelling effects of the War as it slowly begins the dismantling of the British Class system. The Matriach of the family played by Maggie Smith represents everything from the Old Order which is about to be undone. On the surface her three over-indulged grand-daughters are the ones who have the most to lose as their new world unfolds about them; or will they perhaps be the ones who have the most to gain if they embrace the changes in Society which will overtake them? Bring on Series 2 so we can all find out!!!

The fourth series in this brilliant production following the everyday lives of villagers and townspeople at the beginning of the 20th Century still manages to hold the viewer's interest as much as ever. Like the first three series this last one draws you into the lives of the subjects and you often find yourself watching two episodes at a sitting, just so you can find out what happens next. Quality portrayals by natural and believable actors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Erroll le Cain's "The Twelve Dancing Princesses", 23 Jan. 2011
"The Twelve Dancing Princesses" is a wonderful time-honoured story which exists in many beautifully illustrated versions. This particular version is all the more spell-binding because of Errol le Cain's imaginative and very detailed illustrations. I have two grand-daughters living in Japan who have been unable to obtain copies of this story in that country. We grew up knowing it; so did our children. We wanted our grand-daughters to know the tale of "The Twelve Dancing Princesses" so ultimately this book is being forwarded on to them. Dealing with Amazon who were asked to locate the book and Books Found Fast who supplied it was a straight-forward transaction which went smoothly. Congratulations to all involved for the speed and efficiency with which this book was located and despatched to New Zealand on the other side of the World.
