4.0 out of 5 stars Largely liked but had some silly design shortfalls, 3 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this camera largely due to the fact that I bought a Sanyo C40 about 8 years ago and found that to be a fantastic camera, easily the best I had ever owned. This was bought as an upgrade to HD video and a faster, better result I hoped. The VPC-CG21 does take very good pictures and the HD video is very good indeed and far better at low light than the C40. The really silly points in the new design that shouldnt have happened are:-
There is no power socket built-in, you have to take out the battery to charge it in a separate charger which is a chore.
The memory card slot isnt as easy to access as it should be.
There isnt a base fitting for a wrist strap (you could add one to the top one used for the lens cap)
It doesnt come with a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable so you have to buy one
The lens cap is just silly, its a shape that only goes on in one position and the lanyard cord that attaches it to the camera body is dressed to the other side of the camera making it very fiddly to use. They should have kept to a round cap design like the C40. I can see they have tried to 'jazz-up' the design but this is really annoying to use and not a step forward.
Features and image quality are great the only downside are the ergonomic and operational issues outlined.
This is a LOT of camera for the money now as its been super-ceded so if you want great results you shouldnt go wrong with this camera.

From Genesis To Revelation (Deluxe Edition)

5.0 out of 5 stars Early Genesis from 1969, 5 April 2012
A long time Genesis fan I was pleased to learn of the release of this early work on CD. The story I heard was that only 650 copies of this album were sold in 1969. No doubt this was partly down to the fact that they were new and largely unknown, the other that a lot of shops filed this 'Genesis to revelation' under their religous section thanks to the albums title. Its an very interesting album to hear, Peter Gabriel sounds very different on some tracks whilst on others he is very early 70's sounding. There is a short section where a snippet of 'Twilight alehouse' is very recognisable. An album that grows on you, certainly well worth going for.

5.0 out of 5 stars iStream wonder, 3 Jan. 2012
Bought this as a Christmas present for my wife who loves it. If you're considering buying don't hesitate, its a fantastic radio. Make sure you go for the iStream version (they have a DAB & FM only model)if you have a wireless router in the home or place of use. The number of web stations available world-wide make it a real pleasure to use. I originally bought this as DAB reception of Radio 2 in our area (Ash Vale near Guildford) was predicted to be a little iffy. I need not have worried as DAB works very well but you need the telescopic aerial extended to be reliable. When using wiFi however I didnt have to raise the aerial at all so its more convenient. The plug top AC mains adaptor is recommended as they say the current consumption on wiFi is higher than DAB or FM (understandable). We used it on both but not long enough on batteries (4 x D cell) to find out how long it would last. The phono output (3.5mm jack) was a nice feature as we fed it into the HiFi amp for our new years party and it sounded really good. Stereo of course when hooked up on line out. (the radio has one good loudspeaker) The sound quality is very good and the equalizer function allows you to set it for jazz, speech, rock etc. or you can set up your own 'profile' of bass & treble, very nice. The top mounted USB port is a nice feature allowing you to play pre-loaded files. I tried this out of interest and the navigation through to the file was superb. It ran beautifully on the MP3 I had loaded.
The quality of construction is very good and I can highly recommend this superb radio. If you can go for the iStream version its going to open up a world wide reception of thousands of 'stations' and so much more interesting than just DAB and FM. Listening to stations in Australia or the USA with perfect reception takes some getting used to, it opens up a new listening experience.
