Newcomdigi Ice Bags Hot and Cold Packs for Pain Relief Reusable Therapy Sports Injury First Aid Pack of 3(6 inch, 9 inch, 11 inch)
Newcomdigi Ice Bags Hot and Cold Packs for Pain Relief Reusable Therapy Sports Injury First Aid Pack of 3(6 inch, 9 inch, 11 inch)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great set of different sized cooling packs to relieve sports injuries and save the frozen peas., 25 Aug. 2016
This is a set of three different sized ice packs that are a great alternative to a bag of frozen peas.

They each have a large screw top opening that can easily be filled with cold water or ice cubes. The packs have two layers, an inner waterproof layer and an outer fabric layer that goes against the skin. They are very pliable and will shape themselves to follow the contours of the injured part of your body. They are really effective at cooling and relieving pain and swelling.

When they’re empty that squash down flat and so they can easily be stored in a kit bag or first aid box.

4.0 out of 5 stars For a quick look-see at what 3D and VR is all about, this will do fine., 22 Aug. 2016
If you want to experience 3d and VR on the cheap you can buy a cardboard viewer like this, or for a little more a plastic viewer. Whichever you choose the viewer’s job is to hold your phone so you view the screen through two lenses and see slightly different pictures with each eye.
Your choice is to either buy a plastic phone holder, or a cardboard one.

This is just a piece of cardboard, two lenses and a strap. However if you load your phone with the appropriate apps or films, it becomes a 3D viewer and even a 3D 360 degree viewer, placing you right in the heart of the action.

All the clever work is done by your phone, your eyes and your brain to turn two similar side by side pictures into a 3D image in your head. There are lots of side-by-side videos out there that can simply be loaded onto your phone and viewed without needing an app. If you want to experience VR, where you can swivel your head and look around a scene as if you were there, you need to load an app. There are lots out there, many of them free, depending on your phone operating system. The quality of the effect depends on the material being viewed and the quality of your phone and to a lesser extent the quality of your viewer.

If you just want to give 3D and VR a quick go so you’ve seen it and then move on, this viewer might be just the job. If you want to spend some time getting into 3D and VR I think you’ll soon regret not having bought something a bit better for around 2 to 3 times the price.

PROS
• It’s cheap
• It works sort of
• It doesn’t need to clutter a cupboard when you’ve grown bored of 3D and VR – you just recycle it.
CONS
• It’s uncomfortable – you’ve just got cardboard pressed against your face.
• Has no adjustments so doesn’t work brilliantly – for example to be in focus for me the phone had to be half to one centimetre further away that the cardboard wanted it to be. You can’t adjust focus or the distance between your pupils.

Of the thousands and thousands of VR headsets that have been bought, I suspect that the majority will spend most of their lives at the back of cupboards, unused and waiting to be discarded. For most of us after the thrill of seeing 3D we soon get bored and move on, hence the lack of 3D TVs even after years of effort. So there is a place for this headset, uncomfortable and deficient as it is. It lets you give 3d VR a go with your green credentials intact.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost brilliant but why isn’t it waterproof rather than just water resistant., 22 Aug. 2016
This is a cycle mountable water resistant case for keeping your phone, music player or SatNav accessible while you ride.
There are three parts:-
• The water resistant pouch
• A cycle mounting clip
• A quick release bracket that lets you quickly remove the pouch from your bike, whilst leaving the mounting clip attached to your bike. It also lets you quickly switch the pouch from landscape to portrait mode.

The pouch is large and will accommodate even large smartphones. I attached it to the top tube, since handlebars are already cluttered with lights and bell, but it can fit onto handlebars if you wish.

I really feel that this is an opportunity missed. There are relatively inexpensive, truly waterproof pouches out there, and if one of them had been combined with this cycle mounting bracket it would make a great device. However combining a pouch that’s only water resistant really misses the point. The end of this pouch makes no attempt to be waterproof. It’s a Velcro flap that folds over. Rain will get in. Who wants to risk their phone on a wet day, or once it starts raining.

I was going to give 3 stars, but the case doesn’t pretend to be waterproof, so it does what it says. Would I use it? No. I’m giving it 4 stars because it does what it sets out to, but I think it should set out to be waterproof.

Wireless Earbuds Bluetooth 4.1 Runner Earphones Sweatproof for Sports & running
Wireless Earbuds Bluetooth 4.1 Runner Earphones Sweatproof for Sports & running

4.0 out of 5 stars Pairing is easy and pretty automatic, 22 Aug. 2016
On receiving these headphones the first thing you need to do is charge them. There’s no discrete LED to let you know they are charging, instead a bright LED lights up half the control module. That sets the scene for a pair of headphones that are perfectly adequate and perform surprisingly well, but unlikely to set your pulse racing. At the price it’s perhaps unfair to expect anything else.

The earpieces are designed with a semi-ridged ear-hook that wraps around your ear. There are several different sizes of earpiece cover and once you arrive at the correct size the earpieces are held fairly securely in place.

The earpieces are connected by a thin flexible cable that rests on your neck and is barely noticeable once you get used to it. Part way along the cable there is a small control box with the usual controls for on/off, fwd/rev, call handling etc. The control box also has a micro-USB socket for charging using the supplied short length of cable. Unfortunately the socket is not protected from rain or sweat. I never understand why sports headphones are left with the power socket exposed.

Pairing is easy and pretty automatic. There are human voice confirmations such as ‘Power On’, ‘Pairing’, ‘Connected’, etc. The headphones appeared as ‘Ohyeah’ on my tablet.

Sound quality is rather batter than I expected with the low price of these headphones. I find it is certainly perfectly adequate for sports use which is what these are designed for, and not too bad for general listening. It’s not particularly loud and there’s a lack of Bass, but nothing that makes tehm worse than many other similar headphones at higher prices.

They have a cheap feel to the, but after all are cheap. The sound quality is better than I expected but why have they left the USB port exposed to water damage. For that I have to deduct a star from what otherwise are a surprisingly good pair of headphones for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Multipurpose pedicure / manicure machine with good attachments, 21 Aug. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a really useful rechargeable battery powered manicure and pedicure machine. It comes nicely boxed so would make a good gift. In the box are the pedicure machine with protective cover, two rollers (for hard skin and callus removal) and a set of five different shaped manicure tools, plus a micro-USB charging lead and instruction sheet.

The two rollers have different sized grit. Note one end has of the roller has a square stud, the other a round spring loaded one. The round stud goes to the end that has the release button.

The machine has a single control button which selects on/off and speed1/speed2. There’s a button which releases the roller for changing or removal.

The five manicure tools fit into the machine once the roller has been removed and are:-
• Buffing tool – buffs nails to a natural finish
• Shaping tool – smooths nail surfaces
• Cuticle Pusher – keeps cuticles neat and clean
• Small Cuticle Pusher – as above
• Fine shaping tool – shapes and contours nails.

In the set you’ll find what looks like a third roller, that’s actually smooth. To use the manicure tools you first insert this smooth roller into the machine, then add your chosen manicure tool pointing outwards from the machine – see photos.

I like the fact that there are no batteries to buy and that it can be charged from any USB port. It seems fairly powerful and works well

5.0 out of 5 stars Nicely designed windproof cycling gilet, 19 Aug. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a well-designed cycling gilet that will provide some protection from the wind for your body core. It’s designed with a full length zip to make it easier to get on and off and also allows the top to be opened up for cooling as desired.

Overall it’s made of a polyester material which is not stretch and protects from the wind. This material is used on the front and the back of the gilet where wind protection is most needed The side panels are made of a stretchy perforated material which provides a good tight fit and also helps regulate your temperature and allows your body to breathe.

There’s a small collar that can be raised to provide protection and works well when used with a neck warmer. The arms holes are lightly elasticated to help provide a good fit and the bottom of the gilet has an anti-slip strip designed into the Santic name. This prevents the gilet from riding up. The Santic name is also emblazoned across the back and sides of the gilet and more discretely on the front, so they’re keen to let you know whose kit you’re wearing..

At the back there are three handy open pockets for carrying cycling essentials. Sewn into the gilet is a label on which you’re invited to write your name, blood group and emergency phone number.

It’s very lightweight and when not being worn can be scrunched up and carried in the back pocket of a cycling shirt.

A note on sizing: I’d probably usually go for a large size, but used the sizing chart and ordered an XX-Large in Asian sizing. It fits me pretty much perfectly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good little device but arrives without instructions so trial and error needed to use it., 19 Aug. 2016
This small device 6 x 3 x 1.5 cm approx. that can measure the voltage and current being supplied to a device and calculate the mAh transferred. It has a short lead that you connect to the USB power supply, you then connect your charging cable from the meter to the device you are charging. The meter has a full size and a micro-USB socket for this. In effect you insert the meter into the charging cable.

There’s a small display that shows voltage, amperage, mAh and the device number. The meter comes with no instructions at all, so the following is the result of some trial and error and my best guess at how the meter operates.

The meter can be used to store readings for up to ten devices. This doesn’t mean it can measure 10 devices simultaneously, but you can store readings for the last ten devices connected.

The small pushbutton allows you to select the device number, double-click to enter selection mode and then press to sequence through the 10 devices. A long click will reset the measurement.

It’s a handy little device that lets you check the capacity of batteries for example and also allows you to compare the performance of chargers and cables. It’s surprising to discover that seemingly identical cables can perform quite differently for example.

The lack of instructions is a big let-down however. A simple sheet of paper is all that it would take so I’m deducting a star from what otherwise is quite a useful little device.

5.0 out of 5 stars 60 days supply of Turmeric Curcumin, 19 Aug. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Yes it’s the ingredient found in curries that gives them a characteristic yellow colour. Curcumin is taken from the root of the turmeric plant. The claims for its beneficial effects are wide-ranging, from arthritis to heartburn, jaundice to high cholesterol and Alzheimer’s to headaches.

You receive a bottle of 120 capsules with a daily dose of 2 capsules. Two capsules deliver 1200 mg of turmeric and 200 mg of curcumin. There is no established recommended daily dose level.

The bottle is brown coloured to protect the contents from the effects of sunlight and the bottle is fitted with a screw top with no additional security device to restrict access. The capsules have a cellulose ‘plastic’ coating to make them easy to swallow and are a mustard colour – yes turmeric is the colouring agent used to colour mustard.

If you hold the capsule in your mouth for a few seconds you begin to get the taste, so I recommend swallowing them fairly quickly.

As a frequent sufferer of migraine I’ve tried all sorts of things to help control and relieve them. Fortunately I now take Triptans to relieve attacks but am still keen to try ways of avoiding them all together. Clearly I’m in no position to conduct clinical trials, but the other claimed benefits for Turmeric Curcumin are reason enough to give them a go. I’ll update the review if prolonged use has either positive or negative effects.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pack of two sports towels that leave plenty of room in your backpack., 19 Aug. 2016
These are great for back packing and camping as they take up hardly any room at all, yet are surprisingly effective at drying you which they achieve in part by brushing the water from your body and in part by absorbing it.

They come in a waterproof drawstring bag that they can be stored in. You get two towels, one grey and one purple. They’re made of a microfiber material which collects and rubs away water and is very quick to dry. The towels are well finished with nicely stitched edges to prevent fraying.

Compared to lugging regular towels in a backpack, these area revelation and leave you room to carry the other essentials for your hike or trip.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sophisticated CO sensor and alarm with memory features and end of useful life indicator., 18 Aug. 2016
Note there are reviews for two devices on this page. This review is for the CO only sensor and alarm.

In the box you receive the CO sensor, a ceiling mounting plate, instruction booklet and fixing screws. The ceiling mounting plate is fastened with two screws and the CO detector simply twists into place and can be easily removed to change the batteries.

The sensor has a single operating button that tests operation of the alarm. A green LED pulses to indicate power is good, there’s also an amber fault light and a red alarm light surrounding the test button. A small LCD display displays the concentration of CO in parts per million when the test button is pressed.

The alarm is powered by three AA batteries that are not supplied. CO is an invisible killer being colourless, odourless and tasteless and having a detector that can alert you to its presence can be a lifesaver. If the alarm is triggered it can be silenced by pressing the test button. If however the dangerous CO level persists the alarm will soon retrigger.

The alarm also has a memory finction, so if triggered whilst you are away, it will store the reading which can be retrieved on your return. CO sensors have a limited lifespan and the alarm will alert you when the alarm has reached the ned of its useful life and should be replaced.

The instructions are comprehensive and provide detailed guidance on the siting and operation of the alarm and what to do if CO presence is detected. The sensor is a well-designed and sophisticated piece of safety equipment that all homes should have.

Note this is a CO sensor only and will not be triggered by the presence of smoke so should be used in combination with appropriate smoke alarms.
