2.0 out of 5 stars Best of Rats ......but only up to 1980, 7 Nov. 2013
Apart from the two new tracks this compilation only concentrates on tracks and singles from the 1977 to 1980 period.
As a result their two other albums from the 1980s V Deep (1982) and In the Long Grass (1984)are criminally ignored which means no superb singles such as "Never in a million Years", "House on Fire", "Drag me Down" and "Dave.

Asa suggested by another reviwer there is a better "Best of" cd out there which covers all of the bands active years.

Anyone expecting the two new tracks to be up to the standard of Mondays, Rat Trap of Dave will be disappointed. I have heard them live as well and it pains me to say they are absolute garbage. What they were thinking when they recorded this I do not know.

If your new to the Rats buy "in the long Grass" or the 2006 "Best of" and avoid this one

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book, 27 Aug. 2013
This annual is nearly worth buying for the beutifully illustrated cover and 50s style
matt feel cover. You can see from the quality of the contents that it has been lovingly
put together unlike 90% of the other "make a quick buck" annuals.

A very enjoyable read and would make a great christmas present.

Highly well recommended.

The Sacred Diary of Adrian Plass: Adrian Plass and the Church Weekend
The Sacred Diary of Adrian Plass: Adrian Plass and the Church Weekend
by Adrian Plass
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable read but falls short, 16 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was delighted when Adrian Plass brought back his Scared Diary again. Ive
read all the others and was looking forward to his latest offering.

There are some great laugh out loud moments and as always Adrian can tell a tale
like no other christian writer. The church weekend setting gives plenty of scope
for funny situations.
On the downside it just wasnt as strong as previous books and there was not enough time to get
to know the characters, in my opinion the first half of the book was the best it tended
to wane a bit at the last.

That said it is still a very enjoyable read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Move on Ray and let us have some new music, 10 Jan. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: See My Friends (Audio CD)
Before I start I would add that Ive been a Kinks fan for years so it
does go against the grain for me to be so negative in my rating.

This album is basically a group of admittingly well know singers massaging Ray's ego to
the max.In seems that these days Ray is very content to sit on past laurels. The whole excercise is pointless and embarrassing.

Ray do youself a favour and get back with Dave and start making some new music.

5.0 out of 5 stars A giant of a book, 9 Jan. 2011
The first reviewer of this book P.Gravatt has already articlated so well
all that is good about this book there is little for me to add except to whole heartily agree that is a wonderful book that oozes class. Franks drawings are beautifully reproduced and the author has skilfully provided a fantastic read.
Anyone remotely interested in british comics or who ,,just love good art should buy this you, will not be disappointed

5.0 out of 5 stars A nostaglia fest, 11 Dec. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I loved this book so much I read it all on one day.

My love for comics meant that after I had finished reading my
Cor!,Tiger,Buster,Dandy ect I would borrow my big sisters comics
and would devour them with the same enthusiasm.

I started off reading Bessie Bunter in June and then Toots in Bunty but
before I knew it I was reading the Four Marys and other strips because they
were such a darn good read.I would never let my mates know that I was reading girls
comics but I suspect they were doing the same.It was the early 70s and all day
kids programmes on telly and computer games were non existent Reading played a
big part in a kids life.

Anyway back to book.Is it the most authorative
book ever wriiten on girls comics? No!
Is it a great read? Absolutely. Susan is a great author and her
style of a cosy chat with the reader(whether intentional or not) makes
for a pleasurable reading experience.
The author shares her own comic reading days throughout the book and displays
a real fondness for her subject.

At times I felt some of the subjects jumped back and forward a bit but this is a very minor gripe

I would highly recommend this book, I have bought loads of great books over the past
few years and this is up there with my favourites.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read, 11 Dec. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I would highly recommend this book.I have purchased other
books by Daniel and I love his easy read to style. He gives the reader
a nice balance of nostaglia and facts and informtion. I wasnt born when
Eagle was launched but the author gives the reader a real feel of
the occasion and times.

With lovely glossy illustations of Eagle and Dan Dare, this would make the ideal
present for anyone remotely interested in comics.

I have only one gripe, I would have called the book "The story of Eagle and Dan Dare"
