5.0 out of 5 stars Great screen protector, 4 Oct. 2015

A good screen protector is essential for any touch screen device and have to say this is one of the best. Easy to apply and no problem to get rid of any air bubbles. Once in place it feels very secure and gives the user confidence that it will do it's job and do it well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal as a first games console, 22 May 2014

This review is from: Nintendo Wii Mini Red (Console)
Purchased as a sixth birthday present for our eldest son (and to replace an old Wii that had given up the ghost a few years back!).

The Wii Mini works spot on using the same principle as the original Wii but with a better more compact design. Works well and we have one happy son.

This album blew my socks off. I hadn't heard much JBT but was advised to and I am so glad I did. From start to finish it captures the energy and talent of John Butler and his band live and sets a high benchmark for other albums to aim for. The only thing better is seeing JBT live in the flesh - probably the best live act I have ever seen.

When it comes to monarchs of stature and repute there are few that can match his illustrious majesty King Henry VIII. Read in his own words how to proceed in life (ideally with bacon and cake to hand) and never look back.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great concept, but..., 2 Jan. 2014
The Airfix Quickbuild range is a great idea allowing younger children to quickly make up models of planes without the need for glue/time/patience. Using the familiar Lego style method of joining the parts gives an end product to play with very quickly and using the camouflage to hide join lines is clever.

My youngest son got the Messerschmitt 109 and the Spitfire for Christmas and whilst the latter is generally good all round, in my mind the 109 suffers from a few flaws. Firstly, as with the Spitfire, the propeller comes off far too easy so be prepared for regular reattachment and as others have commented it is a shame the markings are not printed on as would appear to be the case on the packaging. Having stickers over join lines is a bit limiting. However, my main bugbear is that the wingtips (particularly the port one) come off way to easy which leads to other parts of the wing falling off as well. I'm not sure what the Airfix consumer testing is during development but it could do with being a bit more robust!!!

Having said that I'll be interested to see what else Airfix come up with in this range (a Lancaster? :) ).

5.0 out of 5 stars The first album was good. The second is even better., 14 Oct. 2013
This review is from: Back to Forever (Audio CD)
I purchased the first Lissie album on a whim a couple of years back and didn't regret it as it received regular repeated plays. I was therefore looking forward to new material from Lissie. I'll admit first single "Shameless" didn't quite click but follow-up "Further Away (Romance Police)" is a great song and just sounds so right and is a better indicator of what to expect from the album as a whole.

Where "Back to Forever" seems to benefit most is from the understanding and energy that has developed between Lissie and her band during time on the road promoting "Catching a Tiger". The songs are more vibrant as a result with hooks a plenty.

This is a very good second album which puts down a marker for an artist who is here to stay and with a voice like hers that is only a good thing. Get a copy and enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great match of Airfix and "Lego", 14 Oct. 2013
This range of models seems perfect for children who are maybe too young to have the patience and/or ability to construct a traditional style Airfix kit.

The model goes together very nicely and offers a nice robust toy. We haven't had the tail problems mentioned by a previous reviewer though I am getting fed up with being asked to find/replace the fuel tanks!!!

Another thought is that it would nice if the markings were printed on the plastic rather than being in the form of stickers as these won't withstand any dismantling/rebuilding.

It is an interesting concept and I hope Airfix take it further. A Lancaster or a Vulcan in this range would be quite something!

3.0 out of 5 stars The excitement and expectancy of Bonfire Night and then it rains..., 8 Oct. 2013
The singles that preceded the album, in particular "Falling" and "Don't Save Me", are fantastic songs with hooks and music that stand repeated listening. Unfortunately, the rest of the album doesn't reach the same heights and is in all honesty a bit dull. It's a shame as I first found Haim via the BBC Live Lounge (if you haven't seen this then get on to YouTube especially for the Fleetwood Mac "Oh Well" cover) and this session captures the energy and vibrancy that Haim undoubtedly possess but seems to have been lost somewhere in the recording process.

A shame as I was looking forward to this record but the end product hasn't delivered though I will persevere a few more times in case it grows on me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, 29 Aug. 2013
This review is from: Studio Zoo (Audio CD)
In a world of mass-produced chart filler and "twerking", Newton Faulkner continues to be a breath of fresh air with his fourth album Studio Zoo possibly being his best yet. From the opening notes of "Where to Start" this album carries you through with the excellent fluidity of Newton's guitar work to the fore across all 13 songs (17 if you have the deluxe version).

Get a copy (and one for a friend whilst you're at it) and then sit back and enjoy.
