3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 25 July 2009
As a big fan of both Goldsworthy and Late Empire History I was looking forward to this. Sadly I should have saved my money. Goldsworthy hardly gets to the subject matter in hand till the last third of the book, the rest is unwanted padding. He should stick to what he knows best Republican Rome or Military History. Read Peter Heather if you want a real insight into this fascinating period. You will learn nothing new from Goldsworthy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finest album of the late 60s, 20 Dec. 2004
Those buyers who find much to admire in the Beatles, Beach Boys, Beefheart, Zappa and other groups that have pushed the production envelope should immediately purchase this album. Full of songs of the highest quality, produced to a level that Spector, George Martin or Brian Wilson would have been proud of.
One of the great unsung classics waiting for you to discover. Be it the simple acoustic arrangement of guitar and timpani on "Natures Way" or the full on Soul of "Mr Skin" this album oozes class as genres such as rock, folk, soul and jazz are fused together to produce a sublime funky, rocking, masterpiece

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Old School cuts, 1 May 2004
Yet another superb collection from the Sessions people.
Smooth grooves from Tone Loc, Def Jef and Spoonie Gee mixed with harder numbers from KRS-One, Ultramagnetics etc. An excellent compilation of premier cuts from the Golden Age of Hip Hop. Worth buying alone for JVC Force's Strong Island.
When the stores are full of tired Old School compilations do yourself a favour and buy this instead. Great Tunes from back in the day before gangsta came along and made Rap the boring genre it sadly is today.
