It works fine but has a horrible smell - cherries? Almonds? Whatever, it's not what I want my hair to smell of.

The Night Visitor: The stunning new thriller from the bestselling author
The Night Visitor: The stunning new thriller from the bestselling author
by Lucy Atkins
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £5.00

2.0 out of 5 stars Based on this I wouldn't read another by this author, 29 Aug. 2017
It started off well, but as it progressed the flimsiness of the plot becomes apparent. Hard to believe that someone so purportedly intelligent as historian Professor Olivia Sweetman could be so naive. Vivian was just a two- dimensional caricature of a baddie. And what the relevance of her 'night visitor' was to the plot was never explained. The ending was abrupt and unsatisfactory. And the book would have benefited from some more robust editing. This is the only book of Lucy Atkins I've read and based on this I wouldn't bother reading another one.

Too Marvellous For Words
Too Marvellous For Words
by Julie Welch
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £7.94

1.0 out of 5 stars Of no interest unless you were at the school yourself, 29 Aug. 2017
Be aware that unless you went to Felixstowe this book will be of absolutely no interest to you. Having gone to a similar establishment I thought it might be an amusing, possibly nostalgic, read, but it is much too specific; more an Old Girls' reunion - 'do you remember old so and so?' than a a general account of girls' boarding schools of the era. Not nostalgic (for me, at least) and not at all funny. Repetitive and surprisingly badly written (did you actually do any Grammar there, Julie Welch?) for a journalist and author. I ended up skim-reading and concluding it was a load of tosh.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too much effort to care, 1 Aug. 2017
Lost interest after 30 pages. Too many characters jumping in and out, forwards and backwards in time and then this weird sort of witchcraft subplot. Didn't care WHAT happened to the characters so gave up. There are too many well-written and enjoyable books to read to waste your time on this.

1.0 out of 5 stars A disappointment, 3 July 2016
A slight monograph or essay really. Not very informative - would have liked much more detail and better references. Illustrations were quite good but often badly placed and with little reference to the text. Altogether too superficial - and far too many exclamation marks, indicating the work of an enthusiastic amateur. Described in the blurb as a freelance writer, Ms Dowding is clearly not a historian - I'm not
sure she is even a writer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect can, 11 May 2016

Perfect watering can - easy to fill, light to carry, pours at a good angle and is made of very strong high grade plastic. Finally, the colour makes it easy to see where you've left it! A good price for the expensive Haws brand.
