4.0 out of 5 stars Great simple android phone, 12 Nov. 2013
Prior to buying the LG L3II phone, I read a lot of reviews on several speciality websites refering on how weak the processing power is and how low res the screen is.

To be quite honest, if you want an android phone to play games, those sites are correct.

Now, if you require a phone that works, well... as a phone, but that also allows you to have your email, your contacts syncronized, your music and maybe some useful apps such as a GPS navigator and evernote, then this is the phone to buy.
It does have some limited storage, but as long as you plug in a microSD card to carry all those MP3s and photos with you, it'll suit you fine.

Unlike hi end android phones, this one won't break your budget, won't be running out of battery power every day and will fit any pocket.

Yes, forget about gaming and forget about taking great photos. Still, it's fairly solid and good looking and if you, like me, already have a bunch of gaming platforms such as a laptop and a tablet, this becomes the ideal companion. And for that matter also works great as a portable wifi hotspot if you need one.

For the price tag it comes with, I'll point 3 downsides you may consider prior to buying:
1 - It's fairly hard to type on the on screen keyboard if you have large hands as the screen is small.
2 - The camera could have some sort of focusing (it doesn't seem to have) as it could take better pictures even with the small resolution.
3 - The phone doesn't come with any led / flash, so you can't use it as an emergency lantern and no flash for night pictures (the daytime ones are bad enough anyway... so maybe not much point here).

I'll also consider some upsides for that matter too:
1 - It's cheap.
2 - Fits small pockets.
3 - It's a very decent smartphone if you don't want to be a gamer or a photographer with it.
4 - Connectivity (as in 3G / Wifi / tethering) as good as any hi end phone that I've tried.
5 - Sound quality in calls and music, both on native speaker and decent headphones actually better than a Galaxy S2 or S3.
6 - LG software package is decent and not too bloaty when compared to Samsung or Sony.
7 - Above average battery life for a smartphone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good enough for me, 14 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The watch looks way more expensive than it's price tag would tell. It's very solid and a good Rolex replica.

In terms of accuracy, mine lags behind about 1 minute per week since i have it (Christmas). Altought that's acceptable for me, I also read that automatic clocks need about a couple of months to "settle down", so it might be early to reach a conclusion.

Bottom line, for a 100€ automatic watch, i'm very happy about it.

This camera's simply the best modern SLR film camera ever made. If you're into film, go for it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good (while it doesn't brake...), 21 Oct. 2010
The lens doesn't feel like a pro lens, it's very light, small, and has a poor diaphragm aperture.

On the other hand, if you have a light camera, such as the 450D or similar, the lens will fit just right making it a very lightweight but balanced kit.

The image stabilizer (IS) does make it up more than satisfactory for the lack of a bigger diaphragm aperture, and the image quality is superb even when compared to expensive lens.

It's a budget lens, but don't be fooled by the price tag, it's a very nice lens and an excellent companion to your beginner to amateur Canon camera.

EDIT: Altought I judged positevely the lens at first, some time later it broke without any effort. Since the warranty had expired, the lens repair (some fragile electric strip that controls the auto-focus was damaged) was actually as expensive as buying a new lens. With this in mind I lowered my evaluation from 5 to 3 stars regarding Canon's not-so-helpful service after warranty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent practice mute, 21 Oct. 2010
I highly recommend it. It doesn't distort the pitch more than any straight mute would, air flows freely and comes with earphones so that you can listen to yourself playing with a fairly decent sound (for practice purposes).

In terms of practicing without bothering your neighbors, this is probably the best you'll find.

Slide-O-Mix Trombone Lubricant
Slide-O-Mix Trombone Lubricant
Price: £9.00

5.0 out of 5 stars The best slide lubricant money can buy, 21 Oct. 2010
After years trying several lubricant products for trombone slide, this is simply the best around for miles ahead.

Make sure you have a water sprayer in hand to dilute it a bit after application, and you'll never need to use any other lubricant for your trombone. The slide will simply loose all attrition.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not recommended, 21 Oct. 2010
The only positive aspect about this practice mute is that it doesn't disturb others, as it is intended to.

Other than that, the mute overly obstructs air flow, distorts intonation and creates a very displeasing inner resonance on your upper torso while practicing. The Dennis Wick practice mute overall steals all trombone playing pleasure you might have otherwise.

Elminster: Making of a Mage (Forgotten Realms)
Elminster: Making of a Mage (Forgotten Realms)

2.0 out of 5 stars Hard to get to last page, 20 Oct. 2010
This book may report the early steps of the best known mage in the Forgotten Realms setting, written by a great game designer... but the reading is just tedious.

So, making it short, if you're a Forgotten Realms fan, it might have historic value for you and it's worth reading, even as only a starting point to a series of adventures. If you're not seriously into Forgotten Realms, I do not recommend it at all.

Dragons of Autumn Twilight (Dragonlance: Chronicles)
Dragons of Autumn Twilight (Dragonlance: Chronicles)
by Margaret Weis
Edition: Mass Market Paperback
Price: £5.99

5.0 out of 5 stars The beginning, 19 Oct. 2010
This book, along with the chronicles trilogy, was the one that invited me to fantasy book reading.

It's very easy to read and, in my opinion, the kind of fantasy book that I would recommend to anyone who doesn't know where to begin in the fantasy universe, and feels intimidated by Tolkien. There is some mild violence, but nothing that surpasses what we see everyday on TV, so I also consider it a good reading and fantasy welcome card for a young teenager.

Although the writing is simple, the story is very deep and compelling, and the characters are everything but superficial. Character development is so rich that you'll vividly remember every character for years.

Weis and Hickman's masterpiece, I highly recommend the Dragonlance Chronicles.

5.0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece, 19 Oct. 2010
Unfortunately for me, my copy of this book has been read so many times that the pages are starting to fall.
Also unfortunately, it's out of print, although you can buy a print-on-demand copy of "the gothic war" omnibus at the black library (it's also listed as unavailable at Amazon).

I consider this book to be the ultimate warhammer 40K masterpiece, and, if you're even only mildly interested in sci-fi, war or terror novels, you'll likely be reading this book over and over just as I do.
