Paint Runner Roller (Old Version)
Paint Runner Roller (Old Version)

3.0 out of 5 stars Just not what I wanted!, 12 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Item arrived in very good time; and was well packaged, no damage at all to the packaging. However, the roller was not right for the job I wanted it for. I didn't keep it in case I needed it for some other paint project but the quality was poor. Also, there were no details of how to acquire replacement sleeves, etc., and I just could not be bothered trying to search for same. The product did not merit its price tag.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good book, 19 Sept. 2009
This review is from: The Art of Halo (Hardcover)
I enjoyed this book, the opening sections in my opinion are the best as I was looking for art based on the armour, characters and weapons. You get that well in the first about third of the book, with sections on allies, enemies, weapons and also vehicles. The vehicles section isn't the best, it shows a very tiny picture of a Human Frigate while the rest are mostly things cut from the game. The last huge bit of the book is based on scenery and mission layouts basically, which is why I rated this as 4 instead of 5. Too much scenery art compared to the rest of the sections.

1.0 out of 5 stars A truly terrible game., 10 Aug. 2009
This review is from: Killzone 2 (PS3) (Video Game)
Following a long line of PS3 titles that were pushed into the spotlight by Playstation fanboys as reasons to get the console, this game failed to deliever on anything. A dull FPS with a terrible storyline, terrible characters and a terrible gameplay system.

This game aims to be challenging by having its guns be 'realistic' by giving them generally bad aim. This is a wrong assumption, in the future guns will get better, while in this game accuracy could be compared only to WW1 guns or muskets. This game's bad weapon system just made it irritating, not difficult.

The characters in this are awful, most characters are bad but you can generally accept it but your 'squad leader' really takes the award. The stereotypical black soldier constantly rattles off swear words while trying to be the inspiring leader. Your commander rushes into a hostage situation, shoots your own teammate dead but is not disciplined and your character only seems annoyed for a few minutes. Later in the game because a fellow squad leader insults his dead friend he beats him to death. He actually kills another marine just for saying 'the brass f**ked up' which was entirely true. No one says anything, even though he does it in the other leader's base surrounded by his men.

This game is mind-numbingly bad, it might have been playable if you played as the 'bad guys' but thats not the case. Instead of playing the down trodded Helghast that were rejected from their home world, you play the generic Americans who just want to kill the Helghast for no apparant reason.

Your side, the ISA, invade Helghast because the Helghast invaded your planet and stole a single nuke. So instead of staying in space with your fleet that have entire air domination and nuking their single city from orbit, you fly your ships into the atmosphere and land your soldiers in open topped dropships. Unsurprisingly your men are slaughtered and basically every job imaginable is handed to your squad, where in your squad you are handed every job while the rest 'hold the area'.

This game can't get any more generic, its a hard call between which of these games are worse, with Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 fighting for the top spot.

If there are any kids or parents reading these reviews to try and decide what console to get, seriously, go with the Xbox 360 or the Wii. I have all three consoles and the PS3 just sits in the corner, every game that was meant to push the PS3 to the front of the gaming world have died in the water. After playing this game I'm heavily contemplating selling my PS3, so please folks, don't by this game. Spend your money on a good FPS, one that won't be forgotten in a years time.

1.0 out of 5 stars As fun as the original....(Single player review only), 31 Dec. 2008
This review is from: Resistance 2 (PS3) (Video Game)
I played the original when i first got my PS3 and immediately regretted it, the original was dull with poor combat scenes and terrible AI with your allies and enemies.

The sequel is really no great improvement, the combat is only a little better but with a host of 'new' enemies it isn't mixed up much. All of the enemies are basically the same and act the same, the only thing that is really any different is the 'zombie' creature that just runs at you and acts as only an annoyance, adding little else.

The AI is terrible, the enemy do not react properly, since the enemy don't seem to recognise your allies as targets. A prime example of this was in Chicago where you and 3 elite soldiers are moving through the allies but see the 'zombies' coming and make a line to hold them. I stood at the back firing into the horde and was surprised to see every single zombie passing my team and rushing me only, even when i fell back through the level being chased the enemy never once attacked my allies. This happens with every enemy in every level and quickly becomes boring, especially when you like to play the game in the hardest difficult as i do. The terrible AI also affects your allies too, a lot of the time with large battles my allies would bug up and just stand there, holding their guns and staring at the enemy as they attack me and only move again once all enemies were dead or i moved on.

The characters are dull and none draw your attention in, I found myself caring more for basic nameless soldiers that you met along the way because the main characters were just so terrible. I couldn't attach myself to them at all for many reason apart from their boringness, but one of the biggest things is, the makers of the game decided that having you play as a normal human with other humans was too much to ask, it seems that in this game every human you see is a hybrid of human and chimera which have become immune to the virus, being called 'Sentinels'. This means that you only fight with the super humans, so there isn't any of the charm of humanity being the underdogs fighting against an alien foe. Though for some reason, though your character is 'immune' he isn't, he needs to be injected with inhibitors every few days or something to stay alive and this plays an 'important part' (since at the end your character turns and becomes truly infected.) It is stupid, your character at many times could have taken the inhibitor but chooses not to despite it only being an inject he decided it would 'take too long'. It was a terrible addition to the game which was only put in as a plot point, and they didn't even do it well enough. They could have said 'No we don't have any inhibitors' but instead they made sure you knew it was there but your character was too lazy too take them.

The storyline itself is quite poor, despite it being quite original in setting it isn't fun to playout. It isn't connected much with the original, only a few 'intel' sheets found along the way that give slight hints towards the fate of England. The ending to the game gives way for a third game but the ending is so stupid it doesn't make the third look like it could possibly be good. (SPOILER) The ending hinting that Earth has been teleported to 'Chimera space' which means it is basically impossible for humanity to survive since they were slaughtered by only the basic hybrid force on earth, if they are about to encounter the true Chimera it means they are screwed. (SPOILER END)

I will not review the multiplayer because i have no intention to play it and i am well aware i will recieve a lot of negative marks for this review since the fans of this game will be offended by this review. But i still need to say it, this game is not worth buying in truth, the mixture of poor combat, terrible AI and a bad storyline adds up to a bad game.

Not for anyone but fans of the original game.

EDIT:
Just now i have had a quick look over the reviews here that gave this game 5 stars (a far too high review in my opinion) most gave it this for it's multiplayer while also criticising the single player game. I still have no intention on playing the multiplayer though, so be sure everyone knows this review is based only on the single player game.

3.0 out of 5 stars If only it had the budget...., 8 Oct. 2008
The movie is the true sequel to the original, the second one not even worth a mention compared to this. It is a great movie but badly funded, if only they hadn't made the second and put the combinded cost of it and this one together they would've made a truly great movie.

The combat is good, closer to the animated series than the original move though, but that isn't a bad thing in the slightest. The characters and Federation advertisements are as cheesy as ever but that just adds to the movie in my opinion.

My only real concern in this (except for the budget) is the ending is FAR away from the original. With the overly christian ending with lies like 'God does exist and he wants us to win' thing angered me. Up until then i enjoyed the movie's approach to religion (which would go down the pan if aliens did appear on day), it showed it as stupid and pointless in a war, but at the end every character who disliked religion suddenly becomes christian. The religious messages are forced down your throat, with the 'lord's prayer' being said at least 5 times in the final 15 minutes and the cross being shown countless times. It killed the ending off the movie for me because it is as far away from the original as possible, with the only real survivor of the crash on the bug planet being the whiny christian girl who keeps asking 'God will save us' and then when someone said he was part of a different religion she wanted to kill him for 'blastphomey'(sp?). I don't get if the movie was REALLY pro-christian, or if it is taking secret digs at the overly religious, all i know is it killed the ending off the movie and pushed it down to a 3 stars from me.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (PS3)
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (PS3)

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun but repetitive, 7 Oct. 2008
This game is a revolution in systems, bringing in several new systems that were created for this game and will most likely go on to be used in a lot of games. The systems are great but they need touching up, one such system makes your enemy more realistic by making them want to try and survive if you pick them up by having them grab onto ledges and other people, but for me, this seemed useless, playing the full game this happened to me about twice. The other system makes materials appear more realistic and act like they would in real life, but this like the first wasn't very much of a shock for me. Only certain objects can be affected in this way and the majority aren't even affected, so they seemed to put too much time into these two systems instead of actual gameplay.

The gameplay is fun for the first while, but there is only so much you can do with the limited number of forcepowers you have, and the enemy all act the same that you end up just oneshotting everyone. The enemy in the first levels of difficulty aren't hard, it takes ALOT to kill you, but most of the harder enemy use missiles on you that track you and one hit disrupts any force power you're using, and they fire them so often they just become an annoyance that just wastes time for you.

The graphics are good, but nowadays few games don't have good graphics, so it gets few marks for that. In truth the majority of this games point come from its good storyline that ties in effortlessly with the movies and books. It is FUN though, for a while, though a lot of the fights get similar, and since you kill off all the enemy with quick time events it does get a bit dull fighting them.

I would reccommend this for all star wars fans and people who enjoy action games but for anyone else it would be too repetitive to be fun. If you do want to get it though, try to get a preowned version, i regret paying this amount of money for a game that is this short. The game is broken down into levels that feel long but are actually quite short, especially one level which you can complete in like 10 minutes.

You either like it or hate it, that's just what it comes down to.

1.0 out of 5 stars I agree with the other reviewer..., 7 Oct. 2008
This review is from: Lost in Austen [DVD] [2008] (DVD)
I have to admit, i agree fully with the other reviewer who gave it 1 star, you'll either love it or hate it. I was one of those people that watched it a few times but i facepalmed more then laughed at most of the attempted jokes. I found the situation stupid so that was a bad start for me. I know a lot of people who like it but that is their opinion and this is mine, so i have as much right to give this one star as they have to give it five.

I didn't enjoy the jokes, the situation or most of the characters, finding them more annoying and dull then funny. Not sure how to classify who would enjoy this, some people who read the book probably will enjoy the twist in the situation while some might think it boring and stale in the modern world. Quite simply jokes so anyone who likes basic humour would enjoy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Movie, 9 Sept. 2008
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A good disney movie, not as much as 'sequel' to the original though, it is actually based during the original when the two were still 'kids'. It doesn't have the charm of the original's animation and is quite obvious throughout but i still enjoyed it. The addition of several 'CGI' objects made the animation look a lot more sloppy though but only in certain parts.

The storyline isn't comparable to the original, it is about the two going to a fair one day and meeting a pack of singing dogs and Copper discovers he can sing but has to pretend to be a stray to join. Its a classic new-disney storyline, having to choose between your friends and family, and something glamorous (in this case fame). Situation is still enjoyable but since most people have seen the original it is obvious how it ends.

The singing sections are in truth, the major highlight of this movie, with a cast of great country music stars to back up the storyline. Reba McEntire has attempted to break into acting with this voice acting role and i believe it is very successful. Her voice acting is great as is her singing, which is refreshing that the voice actor also does the singing.

A problem is that many of the favourite characters aren't included. Todd and Copper hold the main spotlight, backed up by their owners. Chief makes the occasional RARE occassion, not doing much except adding to the storyline. That is all of the original characters, which was disappointing but didn't ruin it for me. Another thing is the canine characters are somewhat more anthromorphic than they were, more human-like than animals but that doesn't take away from the story or charm much, just seems odd.

Great for the whole family, doesn't hold the seriousness of the original so don't expect it to change your life, just a great movie. Just sit back and relax and enjoy it with your family.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Movie, 9 Sept. 2008
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A great family movie, even comparing this to the original keeps it in a favourable light. The movie has likable characters in it, keeping the Tramp quite a lot in the spot light as it is based around his son, the only one of the pups that resembles him in every way. Lady however plays a secondary role, not having as much screen time as desired but still has decent imput.

Predictable storyline, Scamp dislikes the rules of the house and thinks no one understands his desires to be a 'wild dog' (not knowing The Tramp himself was a wild dog) so he runs away and joins a pack of dogs, meeting with 'Angel' and falling in love. Has to make a choice between his new friends and his family at home. Its an obvious disney storyline but still an enjoyable.

The song sections are good, as expected from a Disney flick, you can nearly guess the lyrics of some of them before they come though, so similar to other disney movies. The animation style is good however, not as 'classic' as the style in the original but still very likable.

The characters, songs and humour will keep kids happy and any fan of the original should give this a look in, I enjoyed it an i'm certain you will too.

Bought this book when I was getting my first puppy, the book was packed full of information on how to successfully train and socialise your new pup, including useful info on how to keep your pup happy and healthy. Even has information on harmful things for dogs, like certain foods and plants, before i got this I had no idea that Onions and Grapes were poisonous to dogs.

The information is so relevant and useful that i even found myself using many of the techniques on my older dog, finding them all great with helping to train him again.
