5.0 out of 5 stars At last a decent remake!, 26 Feb. 2012

Soi the truth is I loved the original back in the 80's and thought oh no not another remnake! However sitting down watching it after only about 5-10 minutes started to thoroughly enjoy it. The story revolves around a boy called Charlie who having not believed that his neighbour is a vampire after all his friend's effort goes and hires a con artist by the name of Peter Vincent. Peter Vincent is reluctant to help until Charlie's girlfriend gets takeny by the vampire and an amazing round of vampire bashing follows. Colin Farrell plays the vampire amazing and David Tennant is so good as Peter Vincent it is untrue. The 3d effects are also great and a real good tongue in cheek vampire movie.

1.0 out of 5 stars Uninspiring, 22 Feb. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I think the main problem with this film is that it was made by Guilermo Del Toro and after such amazing films such as Pans Labyrintyh and The Orphanage you expect so much more.
A complete by the numbers cliche horror story with details that add nothing to the story and everything already done before. Only really 2 deaths that I can think of. Dull without any saving grace.

3.0 out of 5 stars Unsettling, 15 Feb. 2012
This review is from: Red State [DVD] (DVD)
Oh my goodness this film was so over depressing and made you think about who were the good guys and who the bad guys. One moment you are sickened by one side and then the other. This has so many questions about religion and morality it doesnt bear thinking about. From a simple start with 3 kids wanting some adult time with a lady seen on the internet then turning into some torture film followed by a crazy shoot out. The casting is amazing but I can only watch this one once as it really did my head in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cried With Laughter amazingly original film., 9 Jan. 2012
I loved this film so much and to think I bought it on a whim. Almost every genre is catered for here action with zombies and evil Indianna Jones type villains, mad scientists humorous mummies, pink panther style comedy and a twinkle of romance. It is a film that I will watch time and time again as you are sad when it finishes. The film starts off with an Indianna Jones type escape to escaping pterodyctyls stupid police and outrageous big game hunters. I could not recommend this amazing film highly enough. A miracle of a film.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Movie why is it not available in uk?, 3 Jan. 2012

Well I am a great James Bond fan and found it rather sad when it was announced that there would be no more back catalogue Bond movies made. Imagine the surprise when low and behold Amazon was advertising not 1 but 3 back catalogue Bond films so I ordered Never Say Never Again which unfortunately for some reason only works on Region A/1 players come on are we going to have the same old region issues with dvd and it is an English film about an English spy so why cant you get the film in England? Anyway am awaiting Golden Gun to come through. When I did get Licence To Kill it amazingly worked even though the title was in some foreign language! The film itself is very hard much more similar to the Daniel Craig style than the Brosnan. The women especially Lowell is great and Davi is an incredible villain. Lots of action involving water ski-ing behind a plane and the opening sequence lassooing a private plane with a winch cable is fun. Keep making the back catalogues whichever region B2 country you are!

4.0 out of 5 stars Better Than I thought it would be, 22 Sept. 2011
This review is from: Morning Glory [DVD] (DVD)
After hearing the terrible reviews from the cinema I was not expecting much from this film but how wrong. The cast is fantastic even the people you have never heard of and the story although not much of one involving an executive producer trying to win round an anchorman played by Ford to stop being so grumpy. The magic of this film however is in the last 20 minutes where you finally realise where the film is going and have a laugh at the cast as they clearly enjoy themselves sky diving, judo fighting and cooking weird and wonderful food. Although I would not pay to see this at the cinema for light entertainment it is fab.

4.0 out of 5 stars In one way clever in another too simple, 17 Aug. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Great idea for an original film based on a guy who repeats 8 minutes of passengers last minutes on a doomed train. The deep tech part with where is the hero supposed to be and what state is he in is a great part of the story but the actual capture of the villain of the piece seems to have been a secondary thought as it is a bit of an anti climax. Still a very good film and keeps you guessing to th end.

1.0 out of 5 stars So Predictable, 16 Aug. 2011
This review is from: Taboo (Reilly Steel 1) (Paperback)
Wow this book has to be the most predictable books I have ever read if you have not guessed the killer by the middle of the book well you have not read enough thrillers.
The crime scenes are hollow and cannot really imagine them at all its a shame I was expecting so much more,
The book revolves around a GFU forensic officer from America coming to Ireland to solve some brutal cases based on everyones taboos such as souicide or assisted souicide and incest and all sorts of other unsavoury acts, the book never really introduces you to the criminal wether clever or not until the end and then the ending is very lame.

A fantastic film from the start although not as much action as Taken this is still a great film in its own right. From a missing brief case to assassins and bombs crazy car chases and great fight scenes this has it all.

The film revolves around Martin Harris who mistakenly leaves his briefcase at the airport and on his return to get it hits his head and finds that his wife and people around him dont believe who he says he is. Without giving too much away he meets the cab driver who saved his life after the car crash and together they piece together a well thought out story with loads of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your toes. Although the basic story has been done a few times back with Tom Berenger in I think it was Betrayed this is still an excellent movie.
