4.0 out of 5 stars Another Solid Effort and Finally on Blu-Ray, 1 July 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Another good season review from the club and nice to see a Blu-Ray version. Every goal from every game in HD with a decent amount of interviews (could maybe have had a few more players but a small gripe).

Nice featurettes on Rooney's record and Zlatan's goals in the main feature and the full League Cup final - shame the full fa cup final didnt make last year's or the Europa League this one.

For a 5 star still need to stop taking short cuts on the commentary. Firstly all the PL games that were on BT use the international feed commentators. A deal was obviously struck with BT for the Europa League commentary (bar oddly the feyenoord h and fenerbache a games) so do the same for the league. Finally second rate MUTV commentary is used on a couple of facup games that were on the BBC so get a deal done for the right commentary in (and maybe also do a deal for the MOTD comms for 3pm games) in future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Close but no BT Sport/BBC cigar and give us a Blu-Ray!, 12 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A fourth straight dvd back in the usual format after the abysmal 2010/1 effort. However the producers are STILL not forking out for the proper broadcast commentary for games that were on BT Sport (apart from the Newcastle away game which is included) A minor gripe you might say given the small number of games that appear on that channel but it would be easy to remedy. With BT continuing to expand their coverage, this needs sorting for next season.

It also appears there was some scrimping with the FA Cup with Mutv's awful commentary appearing for the cup games (there is no commentary for the first Cambridge game). With the BBC having the cup now, their coverage needs including. Using Mutv's substandard commentators just adds to the whole feeling of the cup being devalued which is all too commonplace now.

Its arguable BBC match of the day commentary should be used for the non broadcast PL games too or at least shared as was historically the case.

Otherwise a high quality production but come on stop being stingy. MUTV should be nowhere near this.

Finally why no Blu-ray when every single game is now in HD?

3.0 out of 5 stars Awful Season, decent review, 21 Jun. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Not sure many united fans will have rushed to buy this but the presentation is decent again after the awful mutv 2010/1 review. Still scrimping not buying in Itv champions league coverage (not that that will be a problem next season) so you get the Bayern home game for example with sky's highlights commentators or the BT league footage and it's a bit light on interviews with only Giggs Carrick Mata and a badly dubbed De Gea featured.

Worth the buy to complete a collection, for some good individual goals and a thankful reminder the ginger one has gone but can't see it standing up to repeat viewing!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nearly there but still scrimping on ITV/ESPN footage, 16 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The review is once again back in an acceptable format following last seasons return to normality. Goals are all there and shown properly with replays.

However a minor gripe remains from last season in that footage of fa cup games uses some random commentary which is not that from espn or itv as broadcast. This is also the case with league games that were on espn (reading 4-3 springs to mind and champions league games that were on itv. It can't be that much more expensive to sort this out.

Whilst we exited the cup and CL early it isn't a huge issue but say we'd won the cup or gone further in Europe you'd want the associated broadcast footage. From next season BT replace ESPN and have a pick of much better games which should be reproduced properly and not on the cheap.

Get it sorted and how about getting some of the major season reviews past on DVD? 92/3, 93/4, 95/6. Plenty would buy them as they would a reworked 2010/1 version to replace the bombo mess.

1.0 out of 5 stars No recomissioned 2010-2011 review included?, 26 April 2012

So United acknowledge by hamming up the use of Sky and BBC footage in the description (how about ITV for the CL/FA Cup and C5 for the Europa or do we have to put up with MUTV dirge for those) that last year's review was rubbish. In that case given it was a hugely significant season why haven't they re-released it with this year's review as a gesture of goodwill to those who forked out for last year's abomination?

1.0 out of 5 stars Appalling, DO NOT BUY IF YOU'RE A PURIST OF THESE REVIEWS, 14 Jun. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For reason's beknown only to United they have undone years of stirling work by Paul Doherty International and 2 Entertain in producing excellent season reviews with this.

This awful effort produced by another company includes frankly awful MUTV commentary in place of the as broadcast/extended highlights footage broadcast by Sky/ITV/BBC/ESPN which formed the backbone of each of the previous 18 Premiership era reviews.

The footage frequently cuts away to unusual camera angles mid scene rather than showing each goal/highlight broadcast from the usual camera view in its entirity and omits decent replays.

I appeciate this might not be such an issue for some people but this has ruined my enjoyment of a DVD chartering one of United's most poignant title wins. I want to remember games properly with the often iconic commentaries of the likes of Martin Tyler not monotone rubbish interspersed by occasional Pat Crerand gibberish. I want to see each goal from the camera view it was broadcast with close ups/slow mos reserved for replays if required.

I gave up after West Ham (h) a game that took place in August and will only revisit in the event of extreme boredom. Utter utter rubbish, presumably altered to make/save the Glazers a few more quid.

The only good thing about this is it's got more special features than usual and it's cheaper. For me that's a shoddy trade off.

In the event anyone from the production company reads this. I emplore you to right this wrong from next season.

Funny how every negative review has 100% useful feedback. Anyone would think the company making the dvd had set up lots of people put those 5 star reviews on just to confuse people.

2.0 out of 5 stars Could have done better, 11 Oct. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I found this something of a disappointment given the commentary is not that used in the BBC broadcast with John Motson and Trevor Brooking. This is the same with the other United cup wins I have purchased of 1990 1996 1999 and 2004.

A naff cost cutting exercise which for me takes away a good deal of nostalgia from what should be a top dvd.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Vintage but worth a look, 11 Jun. 2006
So it's that time of year to sit back and enjoy the best of another hectic season at Manchester United. There are some great games and goals featured on this DVD and it has plenty of interviews.

Criticisms

- Gary Nevilles celebrations against Liverpool are strangely omitted

- Nothing from Ronaldo or the injured players (Smith,Scholes,Heinze,Ole) which would have been nice

So thats not bad at all. I personally found Alex Ferguson's droning on about having a young team tiresome (VDS, Neville, Rio, Heinze,Scholes,Giggs,Ruud) and his claims that United finished the season the well gloss over the pathetic showings against Chelsea and Boro. However that is not so much a fault of the DVD.

If you like United then this is a must buy, if anything you can show the grankids how good Rooney was this season.

1.0 out of 5 stars A step too far, 12 Jan. 2006
Where as Series 3 of teachers showed the series could take the loss of Simon,Susan Jenny, the loss of Kurt & Brian not to mention the original school took too many any links with the first series and doomed this to failure
The show was forced to become dependant on Bob, his slapstick toupe and tired stereotype Thai bride. The lack of explanation as to the death of Kurt, Brian and Matt (who was just beginning to find his feet in series 3) showed a lack of thought. Had they upset the creators of the show perhaps? The cemetry scene in the first episode hints at a degree of bitterness.
Gone was the cool drama and clever laughs to be replaced by cheap and easy humour. If this had been series 1 nobody would remember Teachers
